  • Ancillary findings assessed by ventilation/perfusion tomography. Impact and clinical outcome in patients with suspected pulmonary embolism.
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Nuklearmedizin. - 0029-5566. ; 54:5, s. 223-230
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Ventilation/perfusion tomography (V/P SPECT) is a recommended method for diagnosing and follow-up of pulmonary embolism (PE). Moreover, it is possible to recognize other pathologies in addition to PE, such as pneumonia, COPD and left heart failure (LHF). The objective of this prospective study was to identify frequency of ancillary findings among patients with suspected PE. Patients, material, method: 331 consecutive patients with suspected PE were examined and classified with V/P SPECT. Patients were followed up clinically and by means of other laboratory tests.

  • Quality control and testing of 99Tc(m) macroaggregated albumin
  • 1976
  • Ingår i: Nuklearmedizin. - 0029-5566. ; 15:2, s. 80-85
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • (99m)Tc labelled macroaggregated albumin particles prepared from a commercial 'kit' have been tested in detail. With the introduction of the method of gel chromatography column scanning it became possible to make fast and simple quantitative measurements of the radiochemical purity. This was found to be the only reliable method for quantitative determination of non aggregated (99m)Tc labelled albumin. The measuring results of the kit in question have shown a labelling efficiency of about 97-99%. In addition to a few percent of (99m)Tc pertechnetate less than 0.5% of disturbing radioactivity was found. The labelling was stable for at least 5-6 h. About 80% of the particles are in the size range of 10-80 μm. A rough estimation of the number of particles in the solution resulted in 0.4 x 106 per mg of MAA. The dynamic studies of lung uptake and elimination of (99m)Tc MAA in man resulted in a biological half time in the lungs of about 1-2 h. The radiation absorbed dose to the lungs per mCi administered (99m)Tc MAA was estimated as 0.1 rad. Less than 1% of the radioactivity accumulated in liver, spleen or kidneys during the first 25 minutes after injection.

  • Evaluation of 18F-FDG uptake in lung parenchyma compensating for tissue fraction : Comparison between non-enhanced low dose CT and intravenous contrast-enhanced diagnostic CT
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Nuklearmedizin. - : Georg Thieme Verlag KG. - 0029-5566 .- 2567-6407. ; 59:1, s. 20-25
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • AIM: To determine how the presence of intravenous (IV) contrast-enhanced CT influences SUV measurements corrected for both attenuation and tissue fraction. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Eighteen patients with different malignancies, free from lung disorders, lung cancer or metastasis, were prospectively recruited when referred for staging with combined 18F-FDG-PET/CT examination. A non-enhanced low-dose CT over the chest was immediately followed by a whole-body IV contrast-enhanced diagnostic CT and finally the PET acquisition. PET data were reconstructed with attenuation correction based on the two CT data sets. The lungs were segmented in the CT images and lung density was measured. Uptake of 18F-FDG in lung parenchyma was recorded using both non-enhanced and IV contrast-enhanced CT as well as with and without compensation for lung aeration. A comparison of SUV values of corrected and uncorrected PET images was performed. RESULTS: There was no significant difference between low dose PET/CT and IV contrast-enhanced PET/CT when removing the impact of air fraction (p = 0.093 for the right lung and p = 0.085 for the left lung). When tissue fraction was not corrected for, there was a significant difference between low dose PET/CT and IV contrast enhanced PET/CT used for attenuation correction (p = 0.006 for the right lung and p = 0.015 for the left lung). CONCLUSION: There was only a marginal effect on the assessement of SUV in the lung tissue when using IV contrast enhanced CT for attenuation correction when the air fraction was accounted for.

  • Tomographic scintigraphy using a pinhole collimator and a rotating gamma camera
  • 1990
  • Ingår i: Nuklearmedizin. - 0029-5566. ; 29:2, s. 47-50
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • When a pinhole collimator is to be used for tomographic studies the standard SPECT software has to be modified so as to avoid serious image distortion outside the axis of rotation. The MTF measured at the axis of rotation shows that the better resolution of the pinhole collimator as compared with that of a parallel-hole collimator improves the tomographic image. The low sensitivity of the pinhole collimator excludes the use of an aperture smaller than 6 mm for patient tomographic studies where the activity which may be administered is restricted.

  • Study of the X-+/-(5568) state with semileptonic decays of the B-s(0) meson
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Physical Review D. - : AMER PHYSICAL SOC. - 2470-0010 .- 2470-0029. ; 97:9
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present a study of the X-+/-(5568) using semileptonic decays of the B-s(0) meson using the full run II integrated luminosity of 10.4 fb(-1) in proton-antiproton collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV collected with the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We report evidence for a narrow structure, X-+/-(5568), in the decay sequence X-+/-(5568) -> B-s(0) pi(+/-) where B-s(0)-> mu(-/+) (DsX)-X-+/-, D-s(+/-)-> phi pi(+/-)which is consistent with the previous measurement by the DO Collaboration in the hadronic decay mode, X-+/-(5568) -> B-s(0)pi(+/-) where B-s(0 )-> J/psi phi. The mass and width of this state are measured using a combined fit of the hadronic and semileptonic data, yielding m = 5566.9(-3.1)(+3.2)(stat)(-1.2)(+0.6)(syst) MeV/c(2), Gamma = 18.6(-6.1)(+7.9)(stat)(-3.8)(+3.5) (syst) McV/c(2) with a significance of 6.7 sigma.
