  • Dendrotelmata (water-filled tree holes) as fungal hotspots - a long term study
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Cryptogamie Mycologie. - : ADAC-CRYPTOGAMIE. - 0181-1584 .- 1776-100X. ; 38:1, s. 55-66
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Water-filled tree holes (dendrotelmata) are mostly ephemeral micro-ecosystems characterized by high level of heterotrophic microbial activity sustained by allochthonous organic matter. In this paper, description of a five-year long observation of fungal consortia in a Norway maple tree-hole is presented. Overall, 139 fungal taxa were detected. Among them, Excipularia fusispora, Ellisembia leptospora, Rebentischia unicaudata, Tricladium castaneicola, Thielavia terricola and Alternaria spp. occurred most frequently. Our observations suggest that even an individual dendrotelma represents an exceptional microhabitat, forming a hot-spot for microfungi due to its role as a natural spore trap and its (temporarily) aquatic environment. Our results show that this aquatic micro-ecosystem supports highly diverse mycobiota with continuous temporal dynamics, with an important fraction of sporadic taxa.

  • Lectotypification of Typhula graminum and description of T-berthieri sp nov.
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Cryptogamie Mycologie. - 0181-1584 .- 1776-100X. ; 29:2, s. 145-155
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Two syntypes of T graminum were examined, one of which is designated as lectotype and is described in detail. The synonymy between T graminum and T. incarnata, as currently supported, seems doubtful. The white basidiomata and the presence of conidiomata with sympodulospores on the sclerotia were not reported by Berthier and Remsberg, who studied the original material of T graminum, nor for T. incarnata. A review of the history of T graminum is made and the synonymy is fully discussed. T. berthieri sp. nov. is proposed for T. graminum sensu Berthier. Berthier (1976) used the name T. graminum for a species growing on Molinia and with striate epidermoid layer, and therefore excluding the type of T. graminum. The holotype and an isotype are selected amongst the collections cited by Berthier. All the materials agree with Berthier's description, except for the presence of scarce clamps and for a cuticle of up to 8 mu m thick in old sclerotia, two characteristics not mentioned by Berthier.

  • Cantharellus fistulosus sp nov from Tanzania
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Cryptogamie Mycologie. - 0181-1584 .- 1776-100X. ; 29:2, s. 129-135
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Cantharellus fistulosus sp. nov from Tanzania is described as a close relative to C. schmitzii from tropical miombo woodland dominated by tree species in Brachystegia, Julbernardia and Isoberlinia. The species is characterised by having a hollow, smooth stipe and a pink hymenium that contrasts with the yellowish brown stipe and cap surface.

  • Third world list of cetrarioid lichens - in a new databased form, with amended phylogenetic and type information
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Cryptogamie Mycologie. - 0181-1584. ; 34:1, s. 79-94
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The third, updated electronic version of the world list of cetrarioid lichens (http://esamba.bo.bg.ut.ee/checklist/cetrarioid/home.php) contains more than 570 names representing 149 accepted species. It is based on a FileMaker powered database, allowing users to view data in different sets and to perform searches. The list presents new information about the phylogenetic status of accepted taxa, and about the type materials for most of the names. A concise list of the cetrarioid lichens displayed below includes all the currently accepted 25 genera and 149 species which are now or have earlier been considered to be cetrarioid; taxa belonging to the monophyletic cetrarioid core group (17 genera and 101 species) are pointed out. A new combination Nephromopsis sikkimensis is proposed and some nomenclatural details discussed.

  • An annotated checklist and bibliography of lichens and lichenicolous fungi of Libya
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Cryptogamie Mycologie. - 0181-1584. ; 31, s. 67-95
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • All literature about lichens and lichenicolous fungi in Libya is presented. A checklist compiled from literature up to 1950 includes 151 taxa. Based on field work in 1982 and 1983 conducted by A. Anderberg and G. Thor, an additional 54 species new to Libya were collected of 46 are reported here as new. Acarospora nodulosa, Arthonia calcicola. A. pruinata. Arthrosporum populorum, Aspicilia cheresina. Caloplaca cerinelloides, C. haematites, C. marmorata, C. oasis. C. polycarpoides, C. tenuata, C. ulcerosa, Candelariella reflexa, C. senior, Catillaria detractula, Cladonia firma, C. foliacea. Clypeococcum epicrassum. Collema coccophorum, canescens. Fulgensia subbracteata, Intralichen lichenicola, Lecania cyrtella, L. turicensis, Lecanora argentata, L. hagenii, L. horiza, Lecidella laureri, Lichenoconium lecanorae, Milospium graphideorum, Ochrolechia turneri, Physcia abscendens. P. biziana, Physciona grisea, Placopyrenium trachyticum, Pyrrhospora quernea, Rinodina oleae, R. pyrina. Sagiolechia protuberans, Sphaerellothecium parietinarium, Stigmidium tabacinae. Toninia subfuscae, Xanthoria calcicola, X. mediterranea, Xanthoriicola physciae and Zwackhiomyces coepulonus. Given the large territory, the geological heterogeneity, the long coastline, the presence of up to 900 m high mountains near the coast, the at least seminatural lichen habitats still present, the high percentage of species new to Libya in the collections made in 1982 and 1983 (54 out of 87 = 62%) as well as field experience suggest that a realistic estimate of the total number of Libyan lichens and lichenicolous fungi exceeds 1,000 species.
