- The title complex, {[N(CH3)4]2[Cd(SCN)2S]}n, was prepared by self-assembling from the reaction of a methanol/water (volume ratio, 1/1) solution containing cadmium(II) thiocyanate with equivalent amount of tetramethylammonium thiocyanate. The result of single X-ray determination for the complex reveals that a novel polymeric cadmium(II) complex bridged by sulfur and thiocyanato ions was obtained, which formed a two-dimensional (2D) structure.

- A new method for fast and precise analysis of circle-to-circle amplification (C2CA) products by microchip electrophoresis has been developed. Stable C2CA products were produced by applying a new enzymatic step to C2CA. Detection was carried out within 55s with RSD of migration time of 3.6% (it = 6) enabling reproducibility and high speed. A real sample of bacterial pathogen (V. Cholerae) at single nucleotide level was detected successfully based on this method.

- Lipid compositions with the ability to self-assemble into biocompatible nano- and mesostructured functional materials have many potential uses in modem medicine. By using two-component lipid systems, it is possible to tune the structure formation and related functional properties, e.g., the encapsulation and extended release of small molecules and peptides, by simply varying the ratio of the lipid building blocks. This is shown in detail for the binary phosphatidylcholine and diglyceride lipid systems, which are currently being used in multiple programs for the development of novel pharmaceuticals and marketed products.

- The combination of the fundamental measure theory (FMT) and the weighted correlation approach (WCA) within the framework of the density functional theory, i.e., the FMT/ WCA approach, is applied to study the swelling pressure of Nabentonite at different salt conditions. Good agreement between the FMT/WCA simulations and the results from both experiments and a Donnan-equilibrium-based DLVO model suggests that the hydration repulsion between charged surfaces can be well accounted by the ionion correlations effect.

- Temperature-dependent EPR spectra of nitrogen monoxide (NO) introduced into sodium ion-exchanged A-type (Na-A) zeolite demonstrated that two types of NO monoradical and one NO-NO radical pair were formed on the zeolites and that the thermally less stable NO monoradical was converted into the thermally stable one upon warming from 30 K to 100 K.

- In large-scale and high yields hollow palladium nanospheres with different scales were fabricated by template-free approach in one step at room temperature. The hollow nanospheres were found to form from the aggregation of small palladium nanoparticles.
