  • Nomenclatural changes in Cucumis (Cucurbitaceae) :
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Novon. - 1055-3177 .- 1945-6174. ; 17:2, s. 176-178
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Recent studies show that the genus Cucumis L. in its current sense is paraphyletic, with Cucumella Chiovenda, Dicaelospermum C. B. Clarke, Mukia Arnott, Myrmecosicyos C. Jeffrey, and Oreosyce Hooker f. nested within it. A proposal to expand Cucumis to include these nested genera has therefore been made. In this paper the nomenclatural changes that are needed to accommodate the currently recognized taxa of the nested genera in Cucumis are made. The following new combinations and new names are proposed: Cucumis aetheocarpus (C. Jeffrey) Ghebretinsae & Thulin, C. bryoniifolius (Merxmüller) Ghebretinsae & Thulin, C. cinereus (Cogniaux) Ghebretinsae & Thulin, C. clavipetiolatus (J. H. Kirkbride) Ghebretinsae & Thulin, C. engleri (Gilg) Ghebretinsae & Thulin, C. gracilis (W. S. Kurz) Ghebretinsae & Thulin, the new name C. indicus Ghebretinsae & Thulin, C. javanicus (Miquel) Ghebretinsae & Thulin, C. kelleri (Cogniaux) Ghebretinsae & Thulin, the new name C. kirkbridei Ghebretinsae & Thulin, C. leiospermus (Wight & Arnott) Ghebretinsae & Thulin, C. messorius (C. Jeffrey) Ghebretinsae & Thulin, C. reticulatus (A. Fernandes & R. Fernandes) Ghebretinsae & Thulin, C. ritchiei (C. B. Clarke) Ghebretinsae & Thulin, and C. silentvalleyi (Manilal, T. Sabu & P. J. Mathew) Ghebretinsae & Thulin.

  • New species of Sphaeradenia (Cyclanthaceae) from Costa Rica and Ecuador
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Novon. - 1055-3177. ; 17:2, s. 156-159
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Two new species of Sphaeradenia Harling (Cyelanthaceae), S. rostellata R Eriksson from Costa Rica and S. marcescens R. Eriksson from Ecuador, are described and Illustrated. Sphaeradenia rostellata is distinguished from the closely related S. praetermissa R. Eriksson and S. occidentalis R. Eriksson by the widely separated, uncinate stigmas. Sphaeradenia marcescens differ from the supposedly closely related S. pallida R. Eriksson by the persisting staminate flowers.

  • Three new species of Corydalis (Fumariaceae) from northwestern Sichuan China
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Novon. - : Missouri Botanical Garden Press. - 1055-3177 .- 1945-6174. ; 18:3, s. 330-335
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The jiuding Ridge (Sichuan, China) has been explored during the past several years by a team from chengdu Institute of Biology. Chinese Academy of Sciences, and three undescribed species of Corydalis DC. (Fumariaceae) have been revealed and are apparently endemic to this mountain. The new species were observed in forest (C. capitata X.F. Cao, Liden & Y.W. Wang), and alpine rocky limestone areas (C. schistostigma X.F. Cao, Liden, Y.W. Wang & Y.L. Peng). The two first species have their closest relatives in the Wolong-Balangshan District in the Wolong-Balangshan District (Wenchuan. Sichuan). Corydalis aeaeae differs from C. panada Liden & Y.W. Wang in its small size, few-flowered racemes, and broadly obtuse outer petals with low, short erests. Corydalis capitata differs from the C. flexuosa Franchet complex in the capitate racemes, small flowers with deeply serrate petals, and the peculiar, thin, strictly ecect lateral branches. corydalis schistostinma is unique in the C. curviflora Maximowicz ex Hemsley group, in the deeply cleft stigma and very forward-projecting crests to the inner petals, and possibly has iits affinities more to the north and northwest in the Hengduan Mountains.

  • Three new species of South American Randia (Gardenieae, Rubiaceae).
  • 2000
  • Ingår i: Novon. - 1055-3177. ; 10:3, s. 201-208
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Three new species of South American Randia (Rubiaceae, Gardenieae) are described and illustrated: Randia wigginsii Standley ex Gustafsson from montane tropical forests in Ecuador and Northern Peru is mainly recognized by its tomentose to velutinous corolla tube and the lanate-velutinous pedicels and fruits. The possible features of beeing unarmed and having single male flowers are discussed. Randia pubistyla Gustafsson from lowland tropical dry forests in Western Ecuador and Colombia is recognized by its puberulous style, the tomentose to puberulous fruits that usually are crowned by a calyx with reflexed lobes, and by the small thorns. Randia longifolia Gustafsson from lowland tropical humid forests in Western Ecuador is mainly recognized by its relatively large, glabrous corolla, the linear calyx lobes and by the reticulate finer vasculature on the abaxial surface of the leaves. The affinities for each species are discussed.

    • Following the results of a recent phylogenetic study showing that the genus Jacquinia is paraphyletic, the following new combinations in the genus Bonellia are made (all by Ståhl & Källersjö): B. albiflora (Lundell), B. brevifolia (Urban), B. flammea (Millspaugh ex Mez), B. frutescens (Miller), B. lippoldii (Lepper), B. longifolia (Standley), B. loeflingii (Carrasquel), B. macrocarpa (Cavanilles), B. macrocarpa (Cavanilles) Ståhl & Källersjö subsp. pungens (A. Gray), B. macrocarpa (Cavanilles) Ståhl & Källersjö subsp. panamensis (Lundell), B. montana (Ståhl), B. mucronata (Roemer & Schultes), B. nervosa (Presl), B. nitida (Ståhl), B. paludicula (Standley), B. pringlei (Bartlett), B. pauciflora (Ståhl & F. Axelrod), B. shaferi (Urban), B. seleriana (Urban & Loesner ex Mez), B. sprucei (Mez), B. stenophylla (Urban), and B. umbellata (A. DC). The genus Bonellia is distinguished from Jacquinia s. str. by its mostly orange flowers and alternate leaves, flattened seeds that are incompletely covered by placental tissue, and two-layered testa. A key to the genera of the Theophrastaceae is presented.
