  • The mobile–stationary divide in ubiquitous computing environments : Lessons from the transport industry
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: Information systems management. - Boston, Mass. : Informa UK Limited. - 1058-0530 .- 1934-8703. ; 22:4, s. 65-79
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The emergence of ubiquitous computing offers new possibilities and opportunities for organizations attempting to improve their productivity and effectiveness. in particular, the promises of ubiquitous computing are attractive to organizations such as transport firms, in which coordination of diverse sets of mobile units is central to organizational performance. This article analyzes the use of ubiquitous transport systems in Swedish road haulage firms and discusses the opportunities and challenges for the early adopters. It pays specific attention to the mobile–stationary divide; that is, the set of challenges associated with integration of mobile and stationary people and systems into a seamless computing environment.

  • Does Engaging in Data Philanthropy Impact Business Value?
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Information Systems Management. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1058-0530 .- 1934-8703. ; 40:2, s. 112-126
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Data philanthropy (DP) is a new but much-lauded phenomenon. Extant DP research has been either conceptual, exploratory, and/or qualitative. The present study seeks to examine the business value of data philanthropy to the donor firm. We use an event study method to analyze stock performance of public firms associated with data philanthropy activities to determine if a link exists. We find significant relationships between abnormal returns and data openness and the number of collaboration participants.

  • Quantifying Success Factors for IT Projects-An Expert-Based Bayesian Model
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Information systems management. - : Taylor & Francis Group. - 1058-0530 .- 1934-8703. ; 31:1, s. 21-36
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Large investments are made annually to develop and maintain IT systems. Successful outcome of IT projects is therefore crucial for the economy. Yet, many IT projects fail completely or are delayed or over budget, or they end up with less functionality than planned. This article describes a Bayesian decision-support model. The model is based on expert elicited data from 51 experts. Using this model, the effect management decisions have upon projects can be estimated beforehand, thus providing decision support for the improvement of IT project performance.

  • User-Related Challenges of Self-Service Business Intelligence
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Information systems management. - : Taylor & Francis. - 1058-0530 .- 1934-8703. ; 38:4, s. 309-323
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Self-service Business Intelligence (SSBI) allows non-technical users to use Business Intelligence in a self-reliant manner without the support of technical users. Many organizations struggle to utilize the potential of SSBI and experience implementation challenges. This study aims to explore user-related SSBI challenges by conducting 30 qualitative interviews with 2 SSBI implementation projects. Analysis revealed challenges that can help practitioners to avoid unnecessary obstacles when implementing and using SSBI, and guide researchers in simplifying the implementation process.

  • Managing the Reliable Design of an Enterprise IT Network Infrastructure
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Information systems management. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1058-0530 .- 1934-8703. ; 27:3, s. 238-246
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Today's businesses are more and more dependent upon their information technology (IT) infrastructure. Therefore, the managers are aware of the huge costs associated with data loss (and recovery) and invest millions of dollars in special equipments in order to increase the reliability of their IT systems. Thus, the focus in this article is on the practical modalities of designing a reliable IT network infrastructure in an enterprise. In this direction an algorithm has been developed that is a hybrid between classic greedy and simulated annealing that search for the most reliable IT network infrastructure meeting the imposed budget cost constraints and the enterprise managers' decisions constraints. A key point of the proposed solution is the way in which the enterprise managers are involved in the estimation of the relative importance of their interconnections between their business's data centers. Furthermore, the algorithm presented in this article has been evaluated in the case of a retail enterprise for addressing the business's demands for a higher reliability of their IT network infrastructure.

  • The Effect of IT Governance Maturity on IT Governance Performance
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Information systems management. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1058-0530 .- 1934-8703. ; 27:1, s. 10-24
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • There are several best practice based frameworks that detail effective arrangements for the internal structure of an IT organization. Although it is reasonable that there is a correlation between the quality of the internal structure of an IT organization - labeled IT governance maturity, and the external impact of the same IT organization on the business - labeled IT governance performance, this has not been validated. The results, based on 35 case studies, confirm the hypotheses of a positive correlation between IT governance maturity and IT governance performance. Among IT processes described in 34 references, the internal structure of the IT organization, clearly defined organizational structures and relationships, mature quality management, and cost allocation show the strongest positive correlation to IT governance performance. The maturity of project management and service level management, as well as performance and capacity management, show almost no correlation to IT governance performance. The findings can be used to improve current frameworks for IT governance.
