- By undertaking a structuralist influenced analysis of the vampire- and werewolf-tetralogy Underworld the author argues for the usefulness of the concept “revisionist mythology” and “anti-revisionist mythology” in the study of the history of religion in general and in the study of popular mythology in specific. These concepts point to dramaturgical, but also ethical and ideological, changes within the world of commercial pop-mythological artefacts. The article focuses on certain aesthetic aspects of the tetralogy that unveil counter-cultural traits that might be labelled socialist. The article ends with speculations about the causes for the strong revisionistic and anti-revisionistic trends that are taking place in contemporary, popular mythological subcultures.

Herrens Veje : A catalyst to reflect upon military chaplaincy and ecclesial issues in a Nordic context

- This article is based on an analysis of the first season of the Danish series Herrens Veje (The Way of the Lord; Price 2017). The series portrays the young, idealistic pastor and military chaplain August, who is deployed to a conflict zone with a military unit. He accompanies the unit on a patrol to win the trust of the soldiers. During the patrol, they engage in combat and August kills an innocent civilian woman. Upon return, the transition from military to civilian life proves to be increasingly challenging and troublesome. As the series proceeds, August’s mental health deteriorates and his suffering increases. In this article, August’s traumatic transition is analyzed by using four different conceptual perspectives that uncover the specifics of trauma and identity: PTSD, moral injury, spiritual injury and the combat trauma itself. We argue that several factors are portrayed in the series as unnecessarily complicating and worsening August's condition and life situation. Firstly, he is affected by a harmful theological understanding of mental health due to combat trauma, and secondly, by ecclesiological and folk church specifics such as a bureaucratic mindset and a focus on hierarchy and status. The implications of the analysis are discussed both on micro and macro levels. Our aim with analyzing trauma in fiction material is to demonstrate how fiction presents real life dilemmas and situations in concentrated, often dramatized ways. This makes such material useful for reflections on ‘actual’ military chaplaincy and ecclesiology.

- The 1994 genocide against the Tutsis in Rwanda have spawned over 150 feature films and feature-length documentaries, making it into the second most audio-visually recreated genocide after the Holocaust. Within this large body of historical films a subgenre have emerged with a distinctive Christian theme. This article explores these Christian themed documentary films about the Rwandan genocide and positions them within a film historical perspective as well as analyzes and contextualizes them as a subgenre of films about the Rwandan genocide within films about genocide in general. Of note are how memory and historiography are used, and the links between these films’ educational, religious, and commercial elements.

- Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe has over the centuries become one of the most mythologized characters of Western literature. In the most recent adaptation of this novel, the film Cast Away (directed by Robert Zemeckis), Defoe's treatment of Crusoe's spiritual awakening has been highlighted. Postmodern man, as represented by efficiency expert Chuck Noland, is faced with a search for Meaning similar to that which Defoe's "economic man" embarks upon when isolated from humanity 300 years earlier. This essay examines the way Cast Away deals with the ever present paradox of faith in a Divine Plan and belief in individualism and the free will.

Theoretical studies of hydrogen passivated substitutional magnesium acceptor in wurzite GaN

- Infrared measurements on wurzite GaN codoped with Mg and H reveal strong absorption at 3125 cm-1, Theorectical work provides strong evidence for the H being antibonding to N. We have performed an ab-initio study of Mg-H complexes in wurzite GaN, using the Local Density Approximation on a large H-terminated cluster MgHGa25N26H42. We have investigated the physical properties of three neutral configurations along the c direction. In all configurations Mg sits in a gallium substitutional site. H is then located in the Mg-N bond centre (BC), in the antibonding site on nitrogen side (ABN) or in the antibonding position on magnesium side (AB Mg). We found the lowest total energy configuration is hydrogen in the antibonding on the nitrogen site. The stretch mode in this configuration is calculated at 3277 cm-1 which agrees with experiment and previous LDA calculations and we predict an unreported infra red active wag mode at 1311 cm-1. The experimental isotopic shift with D is well reproduced. The BC and ABMg configurations are 0.5 and 3.7eV higher, producing local modes at 3645 and 2144cm-1, respectively. No wag modes appear for the BC and ABMg configurations.
