  • Required changes in emission standards for high-frequency noise in power systems
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Energy Technology and Policy. - 1472-8923. ; 4:1-2, s. 19-36
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper discusses some recent developments that make the existing standards on the emission of high-frequency noise in power systems need to be reconsidered. It is shown that it is possible for an equipment to remain below the emission limits while at the same time the disturbance level increases beyond what was intended by the standard document. Further, the change from analog to digital communication and the use of communication via the power system, make that the permitted disturbance levels need to be reconsidered. This paper also contains an example of measured high-frequency noise and proposes a framework for re-coordination of emission and immunity levels.

  • Diffusion of innovative heating systems in detached homes in Sweden
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Energy Technology and Policy. - 1472-8923. ; 6:4, s. 343-367
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Swedish homeowners' perception of Innovative Heating Systems (IHSs) was studied through a questionnaire survey. Most of the respondents were satisfied with their existing heating systems and were not planning to install a new one. They considered economic factors and functional reliability the most important factors in the choice of a heating system. Hence, economic policy instruments appear to be efficient in inducing homeowners to install an IHS. Installers were the most important source of information. The perceived advantages of pellet boilers were fewer than those of heat pumps and therefore, they were diffusing slower than heat pumps in Sweden.

  • Experience Curves for Wind Power
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Energy Technology and Policy. - 1472-8923. ; 2:1-2, s. 15-32
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The objective of this study was to improve the understanding of the use of different experience curves in energy analysis. The study was based on the application of experience curves to wind power systems, but the approach is generic and can be used in other energy technologies. In the study, experience curves for wind power were developed, and it has been demonstrated that different types of experience curves can be developed for one and the same technology. Depending on the system boundaries used, the market perspective used, the time frame, the manufacturers included and the size of the turbines included, the progress ratios of the curves ranged from 83% to 117%, indicating a cost reduction of 0–17% per doubling of produced or installed capacity. We discuss the interpretation of these curves and the most appropriate experience curve for use in energy analysis.

  • The development of the experience curve concept and its application in energy policy assessment
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Energy Technology and Policy. - 1472-8923. ; 2:1-2, s. 3-14
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper presents some of the results of the project, EXTOOL, Experience Curves: A Tool for Energy Policy Programmes Assessment, funded by the European Commission. The objective of the project was to analyse the experience curve as a tool for the assessment of energy policy measures. This is of special interest, since the use of experience curves for the assessment of energy policy measures requires development of the established experience curve methodology, which in turn raises several questions that have been addressed and analysed in this project. The analysis is based on case studies of wind power, an area in which there is considerable experience in technology development, deployment and policy measures. The results show that experience curves can be used to assess energy policy programmes; however, several limitations have been identified. Due to this, the author recommends complementary methods for the assessment of energy programmes.
