Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
- This article analyses discussions about "healthy eating" from qualitative interviews with 31 men in Sweden (22-88 years old), through a practice-theoretical approach. The aim is to explore how the men express facilitators and constraints to healthy eating in their everyday lives. The findings show how "healthiness" is understood both based on culturally shared understandings and embodied experiences, as opposed to factual deliberation, how procedures and social conventions are expressed as interfering with healthier priorities and how eating is interrelated with engagements with other practices, primarily related to fatherhood. It is particularly argued that fathering, theorised as a gendered "meta-practice" governing the men’s relationships with eating, is expressed as a window of opportunity for healthier eating.
