  • Application of Evolutionary Algorithm in Elasticity
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Applied Mechanics and Materials. - 1660-9336 .- 1662-7482. ; 816, s. 363-368
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This article introduces evolutionary algorithms and their utilization in mechanicalengineering. First part of this work describes evolutionary algorithms and their characteristics. Themain body of evolutionary algorithms, the selection methods for parents and the types ofreproduction are explained in the next part of this article. Termination conditions are also discussed. Finally, the application of evolutionary algorithms to a problem in mechanical engineering isdescribed. Thereby, the material parameters for a Bodner-Partom model describing viscoelastoplasticmaterial behavior are determined by fitting data from experiments on Aluminum testsamples under tension load.

  • Dust generation within the vicinity of Malmberget mine, Sweden
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Applied Mechanics and Materials. - 1660-9336 .- 1662-7482. ; 90-93, s. 752-759
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Mining activities are usually associated with environmental impacts, particularly that of air pollution by fugitive dust. Malmberget mine is one of the most important iron mines in Sweden and the dust problem has been noticed by the inhabitants for a long time. Dust collectors had been installed to measure the dust fallout around the mining site. In this research the dust fallout recorded during the period August 2006 till July 2010 were analyzed. Generally speaking the amount of dust fallout was decreasing year by year due to some implemented dust control methods. Mining activities produced more dust during summer than winter. The peak value was 265g/100m2/30d appeared in May 2007, and the lowest dust fallout was 25g/100m2/30d happened in August 2009. Dust was determined to be originated from the open pit area and the industrial center area. Truck transportation on the haul roads, wind erosion of stockpiles and exposed areas were the main activities that caused dust generation.

  • An Influence of a Shape of a Flaw on a Value of Stress on Beams
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Applied Mechanics and Materials. - : Trans Tech Publications. - 1660-9336 .- 1662-7482. ; 837, s. 230-233
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The main topic of this paper is finite element analysis of 4-point loaded glulam beams which contain different types of flaws. There were modeled four types of beams. First type was the beam without a flaw, second was the beam with a central crack in the middle of span located at the bottom edge of the beam, third model of beams contained also the central crack but this crack was located 20 mm above the edge and the last model contained a hole in the middle of the span as simulation of a knot. These models were performed and analyzed in ANSYS. Task was considered as two dimensional. There were compared values of stress in different types of beam's models.

  • Research on the permeability of ink in offset paper
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Applied Mechanics and Materials. - 1660-9336 .- 1662-7482. ; 469, s. 313-317
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • First, the study chooses ten kinds of offset paper. By using a dynamic penetration analyzer (HVL-PDA) and water as test fluid, the dynamic absorption characteristics of the ten kinds of offset paper are measured. At the same time, proofs of offset printing patterns of these ten kinds of offset paper are made by using a printability tester. Then the depths of ink penetration in ten kinds of offset paper are measured by the Three-dimensional video microscopy system and the study analyzes the effect of paper dynamic absorption property on penetration depth of ink. The results of the analyses show that the penetration depth of ink is closely related to dynamic liquid absorption, thus the permeability of ink in offset paper can be predicted from the dynamic liquid absorption of offset paper.

  • Bin packing solution for automated packaging application
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Applied Mechanics and Materials. - : Trans Tech Publications. - 1660-9336 .- 1662-7482. - 9783037853115 ; 143-144, s. 279-283
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper introduces the implementation of a new heuristic recursive algorithm for bin packing solution used in automated packaging application. The theoretical method proposed in this paper is successfully implemented on a real ABB robot arm with some important improvements such as added rotation flexibility and removing an added product from the structure. The computational results on a class of benchmark problems have shown that this algorithm not only finds shorter height than the known meta-heuristic ones, but also runs in shorter time. The average running time is very suitable for such kind of automated packaging application.
