  • Web Hypermedia Resources Reuse and Integration for On-Demand M-Learning
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Computer Science and Network Security. - : International Journal of Computer Science and Network Security. - 1738-7906. ; 21:1, s. 125-136
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The development of systems that can generate automatically instructional material is a challenging goal for the e-learning community. These systems pave the way towards large scale e-learning deployment as they produce instruction on-demand for users requesting to learn about any topic, anywhere and anytime. However, realizing such systems is possible with the availability of vast repositories of web information in different formats that can be searched, reused and integrated into information-rich environments for interactive learning. This paradigm of learning relieves instructors from the tedious authoring task, making them focusing more on the design and quality of instruction. This paper presents a mobile learning system (Mole) that supports the generation of instructional material in M-Learning (Mobile Learning) contexts, by reusing and integrating heterogeneous hypermedia web resources. Mole uses open hypermedia repositories to build a Learning Web and to generate learning objects including various hypermedia resources that are adapted to the user context. Learning is delivered through a nice graphical user interface allowing the user to navigate conveniently while building their own learning path. A test case scenario illustrating Mole is presented along with a system evaluation which shows that in 90% of the cases Mole was able to generate learning objects that are related to the user query.

  • Possible attacks on XML Web Services
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: IJCSNS International Journal of Computer Science and Network Security. - 1738-7906. ; 6:1, s. 154-170
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Web Services make it easy for organisations to participate in real time communication. The inevitable challenge facing organisations today is to implement adequate Web Services security. The attacks on Web Services might cause halt of the entire network communication or expose confidential information in an organisation. In this paper, we present, Web Services security and security concerns together with analysis of possible attacks on SOAP1 implementation of XML2 Web Services over HTTP3. We will discuss some important questions about Web Services vulnerabilities emphasized by a study based on investigation of security problems in XML Web Services, and interviews with security experts. The result of this study is presented as possible attacks on XML Web Services.

  • ICT Crime Cases Autopsy : Using the Adaptive Information Security Systems Model to Improve ICT Security
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: IJCSNS International Journal of Computer Science and Network Security. - : IJCSNS. ; 11:3, s. 114-123
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper presents an analysis of ICTcrimes using the adaptive informationsecurity systems model. There is a desire ofbeing able to identify potential ICT victimsso that measures could be taken to protectthem. We briefly describe the crime theories, the top ten crimes, and the desire to havecrime proofing products. We then describethe adaptive model for information securitysystems, and the architecture and the sociotechnicalsystem for analyzing ICT crimes. The analysis of the ICT crimes is presented. Finally, we present recommendations onhow to improve on how to improve ICTsecurity.

  • MagicNET : The Human Immune System and Network Security System
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Computer Science and Network Security. - 1738-7906. ; 9:1, s. 87-94
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Most of the current security systems do not provide adequate level of protection against ever-increasing threats. The main reason for their failure is the use of point solutions to protect hosts and reactive approach against intrusions. We studied human immune system, which survives under dynamic changing conditions and provides protection against biological viruses and bacteria. By taking immune system as an analogy, we propose an end-to-end network security system using mobile agents. Our solution not only overcomes limitations of traditional security solutions, but also enhances overall security by providing protection at each stage of the attack timeline. It functions in proactive and also reactive manner and has ability to learn and improve its strategies, equivalent to what human immune system does against viruses and bacteria.
