    • © 2015 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg Background: In the data report 2014, the German Maternal Convalescence Movement (Müttergenesungswerk) identified a possible discrimination against mothers with a low level of education in health convalescent treatment allocation. Objective: The question whether this discrimination is supported by data is investigated. Material and methods: Based on a special analysis of the microcensus (Statistisches Bundesamt), the percentage of the education level of all economically active mothers with a child under the age of 10 years is compared with the corresponding percentages of health convalescent treatment participants. Results: No discrimination against mothers with a low level of education in health convalescent treatment allocation was found in this data set.

  • Ingår i: Pravention und Gesundheitsforderung. - : Springer. - 1861-6755 .- 1861-6763. ; 5:4, s. 319-325
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Type 2 diabetes is a big challenge for public health. Successful concepts for the prevention of diabetes and strategies for addressing barriers and difficulties in prevention are urgently needed. Materials and methods: This article describes barriers and difficulties in the implementation of prevention initiatives and a communication model of how a successful implementation of primary prevention of diabetes could look like. A strategy for addressing barriers is introduced. Results: The authors describe different steps of a prevention programme and barriers. The central role of a prevention manager and concepts and experiences in the implementation of intervention programmes are explained. The article summarises solutions to overcome the barriers. Conclusion: Trained prevention managers can fulfil a key position in the implementation of an effective concept. Individual support, direct feedback and longer-term follow-up are key concepts.
