  • Get Serious about the Ridiculous : Manifesto for the Critique of Exaggeration
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Logoi.ph – Rivista di filosofia, Journal of Philosophy. - 2420-9775. ; 8:19:2, s. 307-315
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This theoretical exposition proposes the critique of exaggeration as the approach to any philosophy that deals with the so-called existential themes. It provides the example of exaggeration in thinking beyond being in contrast to the question of being without exaggeration. Finally, it proposes the critique of exaggeration as a philosophical attitude that resists the temptation to seriously engage in rational evaluation of what we clearly and distinctly recognize as ridiculous. The strength of this philosophical attitude is laughter.

  • Ambivalent Wisdom a Fruit of Reading
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Logoi.ph. - 2420-9775. ; 1:2, s. 169-184
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • It can be said that literary texts do not have any obligation to reality, and that literature destabilises our relation to normal use of words and to established perspectives. Literature is in relation with something that cannot be explained or conceptualised. In this respect literature is close to religion. I argue that many of these characteristics of literature apply to philosophical writing too. Concurrently, I argue that also literature indeed is connected to reality and indeed wants to say something about our world. I contend that philosophy can benefit from a deeper understanding of the parallels and similarities between philosophical writing and literature.

  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Logoi.ph – Rivista di filosofia, Journal of Philosophy. - 2420-9775. ; 1:2, s. 169-184

Literature stands in relation to something that cannot be explained or conceptualised, and in this respect it is close to religion. I argue that many of these characteristics of literature are also features of philosophical writing. I concurrently argue that literature is nonetheless connected to reality, and that it aims to say something about our world. I contend that philosophy can benefit from a deeper understanding of the close parallels and similarities between philosophical writing and literature.

  • Evil or the Lack of Meaning
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Logoi.ph – Rivista di filosofia, Journal of Philosophy. - 2420-9775. ; IV:11, s. 34-48
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • I argue that Paul Ricœur displaces and decentres established theodicies; the issue of evil is perceived as a practical rather than a speculative matter. It is the view of evil as a productive aporia, which suggests that evil provokes action and obliges human beings to take a stand ethically and politically. Hence, the topic of evil is not necessarily about putting together a jigsaw puzzle. The central problem of evil has less to do with logic than with resignation, inertia, despair and meaninglessness.

  • Les théories de la conspiration, l'herméneutique et Ricœur — quelques facettes de l'existence humaine
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Logoi.ph – Rivista di filosofia, Journal of Philosophy. - 2420-9775. ; IX:23, s. 284-301
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Populism invokes the authority of the people against an élite. Often that entails a rejection of the authority of experts and their criteria for a valid discourse. This tension surfaces in conflicts around conspiracy theories and here is suggested that this tension is seen as a conflict between two interpretations of reality, of particular phenomena or history. The question is what role the philosophical hermeneutics articulated by Paul Ricœur can play when reflecting on the formation of history, narration, documents and archives. Crucial factors are the historian and what is legitimately included in a story.

  • Read My Lips : Post-truth Political Discourses, Authenticity and Subtle Violence
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Logoi.ph – Rivista di filosofia, Journal of Philosophy. - 2420-9775. ; VII:18, s. 36-57
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Post-truth political discourses, exemplified by Trump’s rhetoric, are not primarily based on facts. What appears to be important when the electorate evaluates these discourses is whether the politicians who are speaking are genuine or authentic, not whether every word uttered is ‘true’. Therefore, critical evaluations of populist political discourses should begin by asking questions about what kind of authenticity and genuineness that operates in these discourses, and about whether they have problematic elements, such as violence. This piece investigates this issue, using Trump’s 2018 address to the United Nations as a point of reference.
