- In this paper we propose an enhanced IPACT with limited service for multi-thread DBA in long-reach EPON. We evaluate our scheme by simulations in single-thread and double-thread cases and show that the DBA performance in terms of average delay and jitter can be significantly improved by the proposed algorithm.

- We propose and evaluate a Greedy Randomized Adaptive Search Procedure applied to minimize the number of power equalizers (GRASP-PE) needed to limit the propagation of high-power jamming attacks in WDM networks. Simulation results show that GRASP-PE significantly reduces the required number of power equalizers when compared to a greedy approach.

- We experimentally demonstrate silver nanowire based plasmonic devices at optical communication wavelength 1.55 μm. The plasmon propagation loss in a 300 nm diameter silver nanowire is measured to be 0.3 dB/μm. Two types of plasmonic functional devices based on the coupling between two silver nanowires, nano-couplers and nano-splitters, are realized.
