  • Probabilistic Scheduling and Adaptive Relaying for WirelessHART Networks
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: 20th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation ETFA'15. - 9781467379304
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper deals with a way to probabilistically guarantee reliable packet delivery in WirelessHART based networks suitable for industrial control systems. We propose a new scheduling scheme, called Iterative Probabilistic Scheduling with Adaptive Relaying (IPS-AR), which consists of a static part (IPS) and a dynamic part (AR). IPS takes into account the channel characteristics and exploits relaying to achieve a minimum reliability threshold as requested by the supported industrial application. In the AR part, each relay node decides the packet to be sent based on online assessment of both the number of consecutive errors experienced by previous packets belonging to the same flow, as well as the number of copies of the packet currently available at the other relay nodes. This enables IPS-AR to achieve the desired reliability level while using the available re-sources in terms of time and bandwidth more efficiently.

  • Integrating Response-time Analysis for Heterogeneous Networks with Rubus Analysis Framework : Challenges and Preliminary Solutions
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: 2015 IEEE 20th Conference on Emerging Technologies & Factory Automation (ETFA 2015). - 9781467379304
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper we discuss the challenges that are faced when the state-of-the-art research results are transferred to a model-based tool chain for the industrial use. These challenges are often overlooked when the research results are implemented in an academic environment. In particular, we discuss various challenges regarding the implementation and integration of the response-time analysis for heterogeneous networks, comprising of CAN and Ethernet AVB, as a plug-in for the Rubus Analysis Framework. Rubus tool suite is used for the model- and component-based development of software for vehicular real-time systems by several international companies. We also discuss preliminary solutions to deal with the challenges.

  • Automation of Front End Loaders : Self Leveling Task
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: 20th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA 2015). Luxembourg City, 08 - 11 September 2015. - 9781467379304 ; , s. 1-7
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Due to some limitations of mechanical solution for automation of front end loaders, specifically self-leveling task, we investigate here the sensor-based solution. We present a model of ront end loaders and the comparison of different controllers to realize this task. The best performance is observed from the controller comprising linear terms, compensation of input nonlinearity known as dead zone, and compensation of disturbances from its estimation.

  • Towards Trustworthiness Assessment of Industrial Heterogeneous Networks
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: 20th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation ETFA'15. - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. - 9781467379304
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In industrial plants, there is a mix of devices with different security features and capabilities. If there is a mix of devices with various degree of security levels, then this will create independent islands in a network with similar levels of security features. However, the industrial plant is interconnected for the purpose of reducing cost of monitoring with a centralized control center. Therefore, the different islands also need to communicate with each other to improve the asset management efficiency in a plant. In this work we aim to focus on the trustworthiness assessment of devices in industrial plant networks in term of node value. We study the behavior of industrial plant networks when devices with various degrees of security features communicate. We aim to identify network properties which influence the overall network behavior. From the study, we have found that the communication path, the order of different communication paths and the number of specific types of nodes affect the final trustworthiness of devices in the network.
