  • Towards a test of the Weak Equivalence Principle of gravity using anti-hydrogen at CERN
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: 2016 Conference On Precision Electromagnetic Measurements (CPEM 2016). - 9781467391344
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The aim of the GBAR (Gravitational Behavior of Antimatter at Rest) experiment is to measure the free fall acceleration of an antihydrogen atom, in the terrestrial gravitational field at CERN and therefore test the Weak Equivalence Principle with antimatter. The aim is to measure the local gravity with a 1% uncertainty which can be reduced to few parts of 10(-3).

  • Comparison between GaAs and graphene QHR standards for resistance realisation at SP
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements (CPEM 2016). - 9781467391344
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report the first precision QHR measurements at SP using a graphene chip. We compare the results of a resistance calibration using GaAs based chips with the results using a graphene chip. The results agree within a few parts in 109 for calibrations of 100 Ω and 10 kΩ resistors. Consistency checks indicate that the uncertainty is lower with the graphene chip, and the noise level is slightly lower. The measurements with the graphene chip were performed exclusively at 4.2 K, which simplifies the calibration procedure considerably compared with GaAs chips.

  • International comparison of current transformer calibration systems up to 10 kA at 50 Hz frequency
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: 2016 Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements (CPEM 2016). - 9781467391344
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Current transformers (CTs) are precision devices that scale high currents down to values that can be easily handled by measurement equipment. To support CT applications in revenue metering, a comparison on AC current transformer calibration systems was performed among 15 European national metrology institutes using a precision CT as the travelling device. The first comparison results for the transformation ratios (4, 5, 6, 8, 10) kA/5 A of the travelling CT at nominal burden of 5 VA and 15 VA indicate good agreement between the participating laboratories. The main differences are found for phase displacement, at least partly caused by the instability of the traveling standard.

  • A comparison of the Josephson impedance bridges of PTB and SP
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: CPEM 2016 - Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements, Conference Digest. - 9781467391344
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Josephson impedance comparison bridges have been developed at PTB and SP. The bridges are based on programmable Josephson voltage standards. We report the first ever comparison of Josephson impedance bridges performed with 1:1 and 1:10 capacitance ratio measurements up to 2 kHz.

  • A low frequency Josephson impedance bridge
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: CPEM 2016 - Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements, Conference Digest. - 9781467391344
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We describe a low frequency Josephson impedance bridge and the measurement methods. The bridge is useable below 400 Hz and is based on two programmable Josephson voltage standards. Measurements of 1:1, 1:2 and 1:10 capacitance ratio have been performed and compared with ratio measurements of an inductive voltage divider bridge. © 2016 IEEE.

  • Fabrication of graphene quantum hall resistance standard in a cryogen-Table-Top system
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: 2016 Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements, CPEM 2016; The Westin OttawaOttawa; Canada; 10-15 July 2016. - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. - 9781467391344 ; , s. Art no 7540516-
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We have demonstrated quantum Hall resistance measurements with metrological accuracy in a relatively easy to use and compact cryogen-free system operating at a temperature of around 3.8 K and magnetic field below 5 T. This advance in technology is due to the unique properties of epitaxial graphene on silicon carbide (SiC) which lifts the stringent requirements for quantum hall effect seen in conventional semiconductors. This paper presents the processes involved in fabrication and characterization of metrologically viable epitaxial graphene samples.

  • Towards a cryogen-free table-top primary resistance standard
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: 2016 Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements (Cpem 2016). - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. - 9781467391344
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We demonstrate quantum Hall resistance measurements with metrological accuracy in a small cryogen-free system operating at a temperature of around 3.8 K and magnetic fields below 5 T. We use this system to investigate the optimisation of graphene/SiC devices for maximum breakdown current. In addition we report the first characterisation of a cryogen-free cryogenic current comparator which enables entirely cryogen-free primary resistance metrology.

  • Upgrade of accuracy and traceability the SP Sampling Wattmeter
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: 2016 Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements (CPEM 2016). - 9781467391344
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Digital Sampling Wattmeter of SP has been upgraded. New resistive shunts and dividers are built, with lower temperature coefficient and less power dependence. The aperture time of the samplers are increased. The calibration methods are also upgraded by use of more direct AC/DC calibration. The goal of 10 μW/W seems to be within reach.

  • Power quality propagation measurements in smart grids
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: 2016 Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements (CPEM 2016). - 9781467391344
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The importance of Power Quality (PQ) to the operation and management of electrical power networks is described. A discussion is given on the propagation of PQ phenomena. Preparations for a measurement campaign using multiple GPS synchronised digitisers and associated transducers on an island operating with high renewable penetration (Smart Grid) are described. Results from this campaign will be used to formulate models for PQ propagation that can be used to plan and manage future Smart Grids.
