  • 3-D band-stop FSS for X-band and Ku-band
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: 2017 Progress In Electromagnetics Research Symposium - Fall (PIERS - FALL). - : Electromagnetics Academy. - 9781538612118 - 9781538612125 ; , s. 671-675
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A 3-D Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) with band-stop characteristics for X-band and Ku-band is proposed. A 3-D FSS unit cell is constructed by analyzing two 2-D FSS's. The size of the 3-D FSS unit cell is 5 mm × 5 mm wherein two layers of FR4 substrate with respective widths of 0.762 mm and 0.5 mm are used. Dual stop bands are obtained with this FSS unit cell around 10 GHz and 17.4 GHz; where a wide stop-band of 5.2 GHz is obtained. The parametric study carried out on the proposed design in terms change in nature of substrate, alternate use of different substrates and variation in angle of incidence. The 3-D FSS shows its band rejection property X-band and Ku-band respectively. Ansoft HFSS commercial EM solver software is used to carry out the simulation work.

  • Performance analysis of 2 × 2 MIMO antenna with meta-material for ultra-wideband applications
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: 2017 Progress In Electromagnetics Research Symposium - Fall (PIERS - FALL). - : Electromagnetics Academy. - 9781538612118 - 9781538612125 ; , s. 593-597
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A 2 × 2 MIMO antenna based on meta-material is designed and analyzed for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications. The antenna is designed on 1.6 mm thick FR4 substrate having small dimensions of 40 mm × 40 mm. The leaf shape antenna structure with Full Ground (FG) is chosen which provides three wide bands from 0.1 GHz to 1.2 GHz, 1.2 GHz to 6.3 GHz and 6.5 GHz to 15.3 GHz. The composition of ground is varied from FG to Partial Ground (PG) to eventually PG with meta-material (PG with MM). The effect of PG with MM layer on the leaf structure shows that the return losses become smoother in nature with merging of first two bands into one, i.e., 0.1 GHz to 6.2 GHz. The structure designed provides good amount of isolation between four antenna elements. The compact size of antenna provides applications in portable UWB, X-band and Ku-band. © 2018 Electromagnetics Academy. All rights reserved.

  • Maximum-sensitivity method for minimizing uncertainty in the measurements of permittivity of a cylindrical dielectric sample in a rectangular waveguide
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: 2017 Progress In Electromagnetics Research Symposium - Fall (PIERS - FALL). - : Electromagnetics Academy. - 9781538612118 - 9781538612125 ; , s. 570-578
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A novel and efficient methodology is proposed for reducing measurement uncertainty associated with the dielectric constant of low-loss materials. The experimental setup consists of two H-plane cylindrical rods located in a rectangular waveguide. One of the rods has the unknown dielectric constant to be extracted, while the other dielectric rod whose dielectric constant is known in advance and serves as a tool for altering the shape of the dependence of the absolute value of the reflection coefficient on the dielectric constant in such a way that the resulting curve exhibits more rapid variations in the range of possible values of the dielectric constant of the post being characterized. The distance between the rods, radius of the optimizing rod, and position offset of the optimizing post serve as optimization parameters to be adjusted so that measurement uncertainty could be reduced which is confirmed by the results of numerical modeling. However, in the vicinity of the resonances, the method cannot be applied. © 2018 Electromagnetics Academy. All rights reserved.

  • Planning and processing of measurements in a waveguide aimed at determination of permittivity of dielectric inclusion
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: 2017 Progress In Electromagnetics Research Symposium - Fall (PIERS - FALL). - : Electromagnetics Academy. - 9781538612118 - 9781538612125 ; , s. 1866-1871
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The methods are developed for reconstructing permittivity of the inclusion in a rectangular waveguide with perfectly conducting walls by comparing the results of multifrequency measurements of the principal waveguide mode transmission coefficient with the data obtained from numerical solution to Maxwell's equations. Optimal schemes for experimentation and processing of the obtained data are proposed on the basis of comparison of experimental data with closed-form solutions for cases of empty waveguide and the waveguide containing a uniform diaphragm.

  • Numerical method for electromagnetic wave propagation problem in a cylindrical anisotropic inhomogeneous waveguide with longitudinal magnetization
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: 2017 Progress In Electromagnetics Research Symposium - Fall (PIERS - FALL). - : Electromagnetics Academy. - 9781538612118 - 9781538612125 ; , s. 299-305
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The propagation of monochromatic electromagnetic waves in a cylindrical anisotropic inhomogeneous waveguide with longitudinal magnetization is considered. The physical problem is reduced to solving a transmission eigenvalue problem for a system of ordinary differential equations. Spectral parameters of the problem are propagation constants of the waveguide. Numerical results are obtained using a modification of the projecting methods. The comparison with known exact solutions (for particular values of parameters) are made. © 2018 Electromagnetics Academy. All rights reserved.

  • A Simulation Study of the Effect of Ionospheric Vertical Gradients on the Neutral Bending Angle Error for GNSS Radio Occultation
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Progress in Electromagnetics Research Symposium. - : IEEE. - 9781538612118 ; , s. 1540-1545
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Radio Occultation based on Global Navigation Satellite System signals (GNSS RO) is an increasingly important remote sensing technique. Its measurements are used to derive parameter of the Earth's atmosphere, e.g., pressure, temperature and humidity, with good accuracy. The systematic residual error present on the data processing is related to ionospheric conditions, such as the distribution of electrons and the resultant vertical gradient. This study investigates the relationship between these parameters and the residual ionospheric error (RIE) on the retrieved bending angle in the stratosphere. Chapman function combined to sinusoidal perturbations are used to model electron density profiles and compared to RO retrievals of the ionosphere to perform the investigation. The results confirmed that the major ionospheric influence on the retrieval error is related to the F-layer electron density peak, whereas small-scale vertical structures play a minor role.
