  • Concurrent dual-band power amplifier model modification using dual two-tone test
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: 46th European Microwave Conference (EUMC) 2016. - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). - 9782874870439 - 9781509015146 ; , s. 186-189
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A dual two-tone technique for the characterization of memory effects in concurrent dual-band transmitters is revisited to modify a 2D-DPD model for the linearization of concurrent dual-band transmitters. By taking into account the individual nonlinear memory effects of the self- and cross-kernels, a new 2D modified digital pre-distortion (2D-MDPD) model is proposed, which not only supersedes the linearization performance but also reduces the computational complexity compared to the 2D-DP Dmodel in terms of a number of floating point operations (FLOPs). Experimental results show an improvement of 1.7 dBin normalized mean square error (NMSE) and a 58% reduction in the number of FLOPs.

  • Structured Digital Predistorter Model Derivation Based on Iterative Learning Control
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: 2016 46th European Microwave Conference. - 2325-0305. - 9782874870439 ; , s. 178-181
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A novel approach to derive model structures for digital predistorters based on iterative learning control (ILC) is presented. ILC is a technique used to identify the optimal PA input signal/predistorted signal that drives a PA to a desired output response. The ILC concept is used to derive an analytical expression of the predistorted signal and to identify basis functions for predistorter models. The proposed approach is used to derive a predistorter model structure from the memory polynomial model. Experimental results show that the predistorter model derived with the proposed approach can obtain better linearity performance than conventional models used in digital predistortion.

  • A transmission line model for co-designed slot-coupled dielectric resonator antennas
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: European Microwave Week 2016: "Microwaves Everywhere", EuMW 2016 - Conference Proceedings; 46th European Microwave Conference, EuMC 2016. - 9782874870439 ; , s. 333-336
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Co-design of monolithically-integrated millimetre-wave front-ends and antennas is alleviated by accurate device models. In this paper, a novel transmission line model for slotcoupled dielectric resonator antennas is proposed and verified. It describes distributed interaction between the coupling-structure and the radiating dielectric body of the antenna. This model thereby provides a simplistic and intuitive description of the main radiation mechanism. It fits with excellently to numerical full-wave simulation results, both in terms of input characteristics and radiation efficiency. Furthermore, the radiated signal fidelity predicted by the model is found in line with experimental results from a co-designed millimetre-wave wavelet transmitter. This antenna model promise further development into a generic scalable model that will reduce the need for iterative simulations.

  • Time domain microwave imaging system for biomedical applications
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: European Microwave Week 2016: "Microwaves Everywhere", EuMW 2016 - Conference Proceedings; 46th European Microwave Conference, EuMC 2016. - 9782874870439 ; , s. 679-682
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A time domain microwave imaging system for biomedical applications was developed using off-the-shelf components. Two different types of signals: a pulse and a pseudo random sequence, were employed as stimulus signal. The system's measurement accuracy and imaging functionality were investigated when these two different stimulus signals were used respectively. The results show that the system has a higher dynamic range when the pseudo random sequence was used. An imaging test also indicates the advantage, although not significant, to using the pseudo random sequence than the pulse.
