  • An augmented-reality approach to co-located visual exploration of indoor climate data in real rooms
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: Indoor Air 2005: Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Indoor Air Quality and Climate. - 9787894948304 ; , s. 2860-2860
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • We live in two spaces, the visible space and the non-visible but otherwise sensed space. Both spaces must satisfy our needs and there is a relation between them. If parts of the room are too cold this will lead to a restriction of the use of the room. We cannot endure draft for any longer time. Draft caused by a ventilation supply frequently leads to blockage of the supply device, which in turn gives rise to a reduction of the ventilation rate. The final result may be a deterioration of the air quality. Therefore, to be able to guarantee the air quality it is necessary to make the invisible thermal climate visible. In this paper a novel method based on Augmented Reality for presenting die thermal climate is presented and discussed. The data, e.g. temperatures and velocities, are shown on a lightweight display. Several people can walk around in a real room and see on a screen where the hot and/or cold spots may appear. Different ventilation solutions could in that way be compared in a dialogue between different actors in the building process.

  • A concept for environmental management of chemicals in the building process
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: INDOOR AIR 2005. - 9787894948304 ; , s. 1048-1053
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This study was carried out within the frame of the "EcoEffect Environmental Assessment System for Buildings". The aim was to develop a coherent system to identify hazardous chemicals in new buildings. A survey of the Swedish building sector environmental management systems of chemicals was made and two case studies were carried out to analyze their outcomes in ongoing building projects. A concept for more efficient environmental management of building chemicals including routines for data collection and presentation of potential risks associated with them was suggested. To visualize these risks a hazardous profile was developed as a bar diagram with well-known effects. The bars are calculated amount and classification of chemical substances. Special attention has been given to heavy metals, carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic substances and organic substances that are persistent, bioaccumulating and toxic. Chemicals such as phthalates that are associated to allergic symptoms in indoor environment have been taken into account.

  • Long term ventilation variation in two naturally ventilated Stockholm dwellings
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: Indoor Air 2005. - 9787894948304 ; , s. 3239-3243
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Passive tracer gas measurements of ventilation were performed in a single-family house and in a flat in Stockholm during four consecutive winter seasons. Measured averages of ACH data are reported for 47 two-week periods for the two naturally ventilated dwellings. The variation of ventilation is discussed in terms of variation in the ventilation driving forces induced by inside-outside temperature differences. The detached house shows a slightly better correlation between ACH and indoor-outside temperature difference than the town flat. It is concluded that the correlations are not good enough for predictive use for either dwelling. Therefore it does not seem possible to “normalise” ventilation measurement data, obtained during one time period with a specific weather condition, to what would be expected during a period with “normal” weather conditions. A possible reason for the lack of good correlation between ACH and natural driving forces is a highly variable influence from occupant behaviour.
