    • The emergence of sixth-generation (6G) networks has spurred the development of novel testbeds, including sub-THz networks, cell-free systems, and 6G simulators. To maximize the benefits of these systems, it is crucial to make the generated data publicly available and easily reusable by others. Although data sharing has become a common practice, a lack of standardization hinders data accessibility and interoperability. In this study, we propose the Dataset Storage Standard (DSS) to address these challenges by facilitating data exchange and enabling convenient processing script creation in a testbed-agnostic manner. DSS supports both experimental and simulated data, allowing researchers to employ the same processing scripts and tools across different datasets. Unlike existing standardization efforts such as SigMF and NI RF Data Recording API, DSS provides a broader scope by accommodating a common definition file for testbeds and is not limited to RF data storage. The dataset format utilizes a hierarchical structure, with a tensor representation for specific experiment scenarios. In summary, DSS offers a comprehensive and flexible framework for enhancing the FAIR principles (Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reusability) in 6G testbeds, promoting open and efficient data sharing in the research community.

    • Configuring reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) based on a practical RIS model is a fundamental problem in RIS-assisted wireless transmission. In this work, we propose a concept named optimal phasor (OP), a latent quantity that can considerably help the practical model-based RIS configuration. Under such a concept, we can design versatile algorithms that are applicable to different RIS models. As an example, we formulate the optimization problem of frequency selectivity reduction and develop an OP-based algorithm, allowing us to reach a remarkable performance based on the practical one-bit RIS model.

    • Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) are promising to improve energy efficiency and coverage for 6G [1]. In this paper, we aim to optimize the deployment of BSs and RISs for enhanced coverage in terms of received power. Specifically, an active RIS structure [2] with tuneable power amplification is applied, and a framework of mixed integer linear programming (MILP) is proposed for the optimization problems. Furthermore, an indoor scenario is simulated using ray tracing tools. Based on the simulated channels, we apply the proposed framework to enhance the indoor coverage for slightly-shadowed and heavily-shadowed cases, respectively. The main outcome of this paper is that deploying RISs in appropriate positions can reduce the number of deployed BSs significantly.

    • In this paper, we present the latest design of a magnetic field applicator designed to expose a dielectric body to electromagnetic microwave radiation by means of a magnetic near-field for microwave imaging purposes. Numerical simulations show that unwanted surface waves created from electric fringing fields of the applicator can be separated from the desired fields inside the breast due to their different polarizations. The applicator working principle is demonstrated in an experimental measurement setup with three different tissue-mimicking loads. A propagating electromagnetic wave is invoked directly inside the load based on its dielectric properties, leading to a decreasing reflection coefficient with increasing load permittivity, which could be verified in numerical simulations and experimental measurements.
