  • Mathcad in Teaching Rotor and Structural Dynamics
  • 1997
  • Ingår i: International journal of engineering education. - : TEMPUS Publications. - 0949-149X. ; 13:6, s. 426-432
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper describes how Mathcad is used to deepen understanding of fundamental aspects in the field of rotor and structural dynamics in two of the undergraduate courses in the education programme of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on Product Development at the University of Karlskrona/Ronneby, Karlskrona, Sweden. Integrating this mathematical software has clearly given an improved interest for mathematics as well as mechanics among the students.

  • Method for Dynamic Automated Laser Measurement Applied on Lightweight Test Panels
  • 1999
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper describes an automated approach to modal testing utilizing a robot control to position a Laser Doppler Vibrometer (LVD) [1]. A programmed robotic system was used for the laser positioning. This kept the measurement set correctly identified with respect to the specimen geometry. The communication between the measurement program and the robot, the identification of the candidate robot system, and the mechanical design of the robot-vibrometer interface is described. For verification a sample measurement was performed and results are briefly presented.

  • Multidisciplinary Simulation of Active Control of Machine-Tool Vibration in Turning
  • 2000
  • Ingår i: System and Control:Theory and Applications. - Athens : World Scientific Engineering Society. ; , s. 61-64
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The increasing computer power in modern manufacturing machines has given the possibility to integrate advanced computer based control systems. In this work a simulation model for active control of machine-tool vibration in turning operations is described. The model contains both the mechanical structure and the control system. The simulation is done with and without active control. The structure vibration is suppressed by simulating actuators. The simulation is done to get a first indication of the potentials of a proposed new tool holder design and to test the usability of such multidisciplinary simulations as a supporting tool for product development. The results show that it is possible to simulate the total system. The vibrations of the tool holder tip could be decreased significantly by using reasonable forces. The software used was found to be very user friendly and to be able to perform such coupled simulations in this way during product development must be considered to be a great advantage.

  • Dynamic Automated Measurement on Light Weight Test Panels
  • 1999
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper describes an automated approach to modal testing utilizing a robot control to position a Laser Doppler Vibrometer (LDV) beam. The LDV measures the velocity response of test panels to a broad band force excitation. The implementation of the laser beam approach involves moving the beam once for each member of the velocity-force set. It is critical that the beam is positioned precisely, and the measurement set is correctly correlated to the specimen geometry. A programmed robotic system was used for the laser positioning and for keeping the measurement set correctly identified with respect to the specimen geometry. The result clearly shows the possibility to automate time consuming modal measurement of lightweight structures by utilizing a robot to control a LDV.

  • An investigation of household dogs as the source in a case of human bacteraemia caused by Staphylococcus pseudintermedius
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Infection Ecology & Epidemiology. - : Co-Action Publishing. - 2000-8686. ; 13:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Staphylococcus pseudintermedius is a commensal and an opportunistic pathogen in dogs, and is also an opportunistic pathogen in humans. Here we report about a case of bacteraemia with a fatal outcome in a 77-year-old co-morbid male likely caused by a S. pseudintermedius and the investigation into the possible transmission from the two dogs in the patient's household. The two dogs carried the same S. pseudintermedius strain, but this dog strain was unrelated to the strain from the patient. In contrast to the patient strain, the dog strain showed reduced susceptibility to several antibiotics and both dogs had received antibiotic treatment prior to sampling. So, it is conceivable that these treatments can have eliminated the patient's strain between the transmission event and the dog sampling. It is also worth noting that the patient strain was positive for the expA gene, which encodes an exfoliative toxin closely related to the S. aureus exfoliative toxin B. This toxin has been linked to canine pyoderma, but its effect on humans remains unknown. Transmission of S. pseudintermedius was confirmed in the household between the dogs. However, we could not verify that the dogs were the source for the S. pseudintermedius in the patient.
