  • Absence of phase transition in a magnetic field in the Fe0.55Mn0.45TiO3 Ising spin glass
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials. - : Elsevier BV. - 0304-8853 .- 1873-4766. ; 310:2, s. 1494-1499
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present dynamical magnetic properties in the presence of a static bias field on the 3d Ising spin glass (SG) Fe0.55Mn0.45TiO3. It exhibits critical dynamics only in zero field, suggesting that there is no Almeida–Thouless line for Ising SGs. Instead a dynamical crossover scenario, based on the real-space droplet picture, can explain the in-field magnetic properties. We also interpret the glassy nature of the field-cooled magnetization in accordance with the real-space picture.

  • Finite versus zero-temperature hysteretic behavior of spin glasses : Experiment and theory
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Physical Review B. Condensed Matter and Materials Physics. - 1098-0121 .- 1550-235X. ; 76:9, s. 092408-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Wepresent experimental results attempting to fingerprint nonanalyticities in the magnetizationcurves of spin glasses found by Katzgraber et al. [Phys. Rev.Lett. 89, 257202 (2002)] via zero-temperature Monte Carlo simulations ofthe Edwards-Anderson Ising spin glass. Our results show that thesingularities at zero temperature due to the reversal-field memory effectare washed out by the finite temperatures of the experiments. The data are analyzed via the first order reversal curve(FORC) magnetic fingerprinting method. The experimental results are supported byMonte Carlo simulations of the Edwards-Anderson Ising spin glass atfinite temperatures which agree qualitatively very well with the experimentalresults. This suggests that the hysteretic behavior of real Isingspin-glass materials is well described by the Edwards-Anderson Ising spinglass. Furthermore, reversal-field memory is a purely zero-temperature effect.

  • Equilibrium and nonequilibrium magnetic behaviour of a reentrant Ising spin glass.
  • 1992
  • Ingår i: Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials. - : Elsevier BV. - 0304-8853 .- 1873-4766. ; 104-107:3, s. 1607-1608
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The reentrant Ising spin glass Fe0.62Mn0.38TiO3 has been investigated using SQUID magnetometry. The system is antiferromagnetic below TN(H = 0) = 33 K, and enters a mixed antiferromagnetic/spin glass phase below Tg(H = 0) = 25.8 K. Within the concept of a recent mean field model, a ratio TN(0)/Tg(0) close to unity indicates both intra- and interlayer frustration. The existence of an overlap length, lΔT, below which equilibrium spin correlations at temperatures T and T + ΔT are indistinguishable has been verified by magnetic relaxation experiments on this spin glass system
