  • Strukturerad miljödatahantering inom järn- och stålindustri. Etapp 2; Miljöinformationssystem
  • 2004

  • A New Methodology for Greenhouse Gas Reduction in Industry through Improved Heat Exchanging and/or Integration of Combined Heat and Power
  • 1999
  • Ingår i: Applied Thermal Engineering. ; 19/1999, Issue 7, s. 707-731
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper presents a method that identi®es economically optimal combinations of enhanced heat recovery, integration of combined heat and power (CHP), and fuel switching, in an existing industrial energy system at various emission levels. Novel types of composite curves based on pinch technology, representing the existing temperature levels for supplying heat and the possible ones that may be attained after retro®tting, are used as tools for estimating the opportunities for CHP and the trade-off between improved heat exchangin

  • Potential for Greenhouse Gas Reduction in Industry through Increased Heat Recovery and/or Integration of Combined Heat and Power
  • 2003
  • Ingår i: Applied Thermal Engineering. - 1404-7098. ; 23:1, s. 65-87
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The potential for greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction in industry through process integration measures depends to a great extent on prevailing technical and economic conditions. A step-wise methodology developed at the author's department based on pinch technology was used to analyse how various parameters influence the cost-optimal configuration for the plant's energy system, and the opportunities for costeffective GHG emissions reduction compared to this solution. The potential for reduction of GHG emissions from a given plant depends primarily on the design of the industrial process and its energy system (internal factors) and on the electricity-to-fuel price ratio and the specific GHG emissions from the national power generation system (external factors).

  • Pharmacokinetics, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy of ABR-215757, a new quinoline-3-carboxamide derivative, in murine and human SLE
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Arthritis and Rheumatism. - : Wiley. - 0004-3591 .- 1529-0131. ; 64:5, s. 1579-1588
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy of ABR-215757, a new immunomodulatory small molecule in a murine SLE model, to evaluate the pharmacokinetics and tolerability in SLE patients at doses predicted to be efficacious and safe, and to determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD). METHODS: The efficacy of ABR-215757 was studied in lupus prone MRLlpr/lpr mice and compared with established SLE treatments. Dose response data of ABR-215757 were together with pharmacokinetic data used to calculate effective and safe clinical doses. The pharmacokinetics and tolerance of ABR-215757 were evaluated in a Phase Ib double-blind, placebo controlled, dose-escalation study where cohorts of SLE patients received daily oral treatment for 12 weeks. RESULTS: Disease inhibition in MRLlpr/lpr mice, comparable to that of prednisolone and mycophenolate mofetil, was obtained with ABR-215757. Prominent effects on disease manifestations, serological markers and a steroid sparing effect were seen for ABR-215757. The pharmacokinetic properties in SLE patients were linear and well suitable for once daily oral treatment. The majority of the adverse events (AEs) were mild or moderate and transient. The most frequent AEs were arthralgia and myalgia, reported at the highest (4.5 and 6 mg/day) dose levels. At 4.5 mg and higher some AEs of severe intensity and serious adverse events (SAEs) were reported. CONCLUSION: ABR-215757 effectively inhibited disease and had a steroid sparing effect in experimental lupus. Clinical doses up to 3 mg/day, dose levels predicted from pre-clinical studies to be efficacious and safe, were well tolerated in the SLE patients. The MTD was concluded to be 4.5 mg/day.

    • Objective To assess the efficacy of paquinimod, a new immunomodulatory small molecule, in a murine lupus model, and to evaluate its pharmacokinetics and tolerability in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients at doses predicted to be efficacious and safe and determine the maximum tolerated dose. Methods The efficacy of paquinimod was studied in lupus-prone MRL-lpr/lpr mice and compared with that of established SLE treatments. Dose-response data and pharmacokinetic data were used to calculate effective and safe clinical doses of paquinimod. The pharmacokinetics and tolerability of paquinimod were evaluated in a phase Ib double-blind, placebo controlled, dose-ranging study in which cohorts of SLE patients received daily oral treatment for 12 weeks. Results Paquinimod treatment resulted in disease inhibition in MRL-lpr/lpr mice, comparable to that obtained with prednisolone and mycophenolate mofetil; prominent effects on disease manifestations and serologic markers and a steroid-sparing effect were observed. In patients with SLE, the pharmacokinetic properties of paquinimod were linear and well suitable for once-daily oral treatment. The majority of the adverse events (AEs) were mild or moderate, and transient. The most frequent AEs were arthralgia and myalgia, reported with the highest dose levels of paquinimod (4.5 mg/day and 6.0 mg/day). At the 4.5 mg/day dose level and higher, some AEs of severe intensity and serious adverse events were reported. Conclusion Paquinimod effectively inhibited disease and had a steroid-sparing effect in experimental lupus. Results from preclinical models together with pharmacokinetic data were successfully translated into a safe clinical dose range, and doses of up to 3.0 mg/day were well tolerated in the SLE patients. Taken together, the promising combined data from a murine model and human SLE support the future clinical development of paquinimod.

  • Postpartum septic symphysitis, a rare condition with possible long-term consequences: a cohort study with long-term follow-up
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1471-2393. ; 21:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background Postpartum septic symphysitis (PPSS) is defined as acute onset of severe pain around the symphysis, restricted movement, fever, and elevated inflammatory parameters. It is a rare but serious condition requiring urgent diagnosis and treatment. The aim of this study was to describe the incidence, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and long-term follow-up of PPSS. Methods This follow-up study included 19 out of 21 women diagnosed with PPSS from 1989 to 2017 at one tertiary care hospital in Sweden. Clinical data were retrieved from hospital records and compared to those retrieved from a regional registry. Women completed a postal questionnaire, and those who reported lumbopelvic pain (LPP) were offered a clinical examination. Results 1) PPSS was diagnosed after a normal postpartum period of 24 to 50 h by blood tests (n = 19/19), ultrasonography (n = 9 /19), computer tomography (n = 8/19) or magnetic resonance imaging (n = 16/19) Treatment included aspiration of symphyseal abscesses, i.v. antibiotics and different physiotherapeutic interventions. Women with PPSS more frequently were primiparous (n = 14/19, p = 0.001), had an instrumental delivery (n = 14/19, p = 0.003), longer time of active labour (p = 0.01) and second stage of labour (p = 0.001) than women in the regional registry. 2) Ten out of 19 (52%) women reported LPP at follow-up. These women more often suffered impaired function related to LPP (Pelvic Girdle Questionnaire, 27 versus 0, p < 0.0001), a poorer health-related quality of life (EuroQol-5 dimensions p = 0.001 and EuroQol-visual analogue scale, 65 mm versus 84 mm, p = 0.022) and higher levels of anxiety and depression (Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale (HADS) HADS-Anxiety, 7 versus 2, p = 0.010; and HADS-Depression, 1 versus 0, p = 0.028) than women with no pain. 3). Of the eight women who were clinically assessed, one had lumbar pain and seven had pelvic girdle pain (PGP). Conclusions In the largest cohort of patients with PPSS to date, primiparas and women with instrumental vaginal delivery were overrepresented, indicating that first and complicated deliveries might be risk factors. Approximately half of the women reported PGP at follow-up, with considerable consequences affecting health-related quality of life and function decades after delivery. Prospective multicentre studies are needed to establish risk factors, long-term consequences, and adequate treatment for this rare pregnancy complication.
