  • Posterolateral corner of the knee: an expert consensus statement on diagnosis, classification, treatment, and rehabilitation
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Knee Surgery Sports Traumatology Arthroscopy. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0942-2056 .- 1433-7347. ; 27:8, s. 2520-2529
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • PurposeTo develop a statement on the diagnosis, classification, treatment, and rehabilitation concepts of posterolateral corner (PLC) injuries of the knee using a modified Delphi technique.MethodsA working group of three individuals generated a list of statements relating to the diagnosis, classification, treatment, and rehabilitation of PLC injuries to form the basis of an initial survey for rating by an international group of experts. The PLC expert group (composed of 27 experts throughout the world) was surveyed on three occasions to establish consensus on the inclusion/exclusion of each item. In addition to rating agreement, experts were invited to propose further items for inclusion or to suggest modifications of existing items at each round. Pre-defined criteria were used to refine item lists after each survey. Statements reaching consensus in round three were included within the final consensus document.ResultsTwenty-seven experts (100% response rate) completed three rounds of surveys. After three rounds, 29 items achieved consensus with over 75% agreement and less than 5% disagreement. Consensus was reached in 92% of the statements relating to diagnosis of PLC injuries, 100% relating to classification, 70% relating to treatment and in 88% of items relating to rehabilitation statements, with an overall consensus of 81%.ConclusionsThis study has established a consensus statement relating to the diagnosis, classification, treatment, and rehabilitation of PLC injuries. Further research is needed to develop updated classification systems, and better understand the role of non-invasive and minimally invasive approaches along with standardized rehabilitation protocols.Level of evidenceConsensus of expert opinion, Level V.

  • The posteromedial corner of the knee: an international expert consensus statement on diagnosis, classification, treatment, and rehabilitation
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0942-2056 .- 1433-7347. ; 29, s. 2976-2986
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Purpose: To establish recommendations for diagnosis, classification, treatment, and rehabilitation of posteromedial corner (PMC) knee injuries using a modified Delphi technique. Methods: A list of statements concerning the diagnosis, classification, treatment and rehabilitation of PMC injuries was created by a working group of four individuals. Using a modified Delphi technique, a group of 35 surgeons with expertise in PMC injuries was surveyed, on three occasions, to establish consensus on the inclusion or exclusion of each statement. Experts were encouraged to propose further suggestions or modifications following each round. Pre-defined criteria were used to refine item lists after each survey. The final document included statements reaching consensus in round three. Results: Thirty-five experts had a 100% response rate for all three rounds. A total of 53 items achieved over 75% consensus. The overall rate of consensus was 82.8%. Statements pertaining to PMC reconstruction and those regarding the treatment of combined cruciate and PMC injuries reached 100% consensus. Consensus was reached for 85.7% of the statements on anatomy of the PMC, 90% for those relating to diagnosis, 70% relating to classification, 64.3% relating to the treatment of isolated PMC injuries, and 83.3% relating to rehabilitation after PMC reconstruction. Conclusion: A modified Delphi technique was applied to generate an expert consensus statement concerning the diagnosis, classification, treatment, and rehabilitation practices for PMC injuries of the knee with high levels of expert agreement. Though the majority of statements pertaining to anatomy, diagnosis, and rehabilitation reached consensus, there remains inconsistency as to the optimal approach to treating isolated PMC injuries. Additionally, there is a need for improved PMC injury classification. Level of evidence: Level V. © 2020, European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery, Arthroscopy (ESSKA).

  • LiF-MgB2 System for Reversible Hydrogen Storage
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physical Chemistry C. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 1932-7447 .- 1932-7455. ; 114:22, s. 10291-10296
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • LiF-MgB2 composites are proposed for reversible hydrogen storage. With respect to pure LiBH4, a significantly kinetic destabilization regarding hydrogenation and dehydrogenation is accomplished. The reversible hydrogen storage capacity is up to 6.4 wt %. The kinetic properties are improved significantly during cycling. The formations of the hydridofluoride phases (LiBa4-yFy and LiH1-xFx) are observed by in situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction (XRD) and attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR). Hydrogenation and dehydrogenation mechanisms are described on the basis of the formation and decomposition of the hydridofluoride phases, respectively.

  • Comparative discharge prediction from a small artificial catchment without model calibration : Representation of initial hydrological catchment development
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Die Bodenkultur. - 0006-5471. ; 62:1-4, s. 23-29
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Ten conceptually different models were applied to predict the discharge from the 6 ha artificial Chicken Creek catchment in Lausatia, North-East Germany, which has been created in an open cast mining area. The study consisted of three steps to make a model intercomparison with the objective of a priori prediction of the water balance and the discharge dynamics. In order to test the ability of each model and modeller to predict water flows in an ungauged catchment, only soil texture, topography, vegetation coverage and climate data were provided to the modellers in the first step. Hydrological data on discharge, soil moisture and groundwater levels were withheld. This enabled us to assess the predictive capabilities of the models under sparse data conditions. The predicted components of the water balance varied in a wide range. None of the model simulations came close to the observed water balance for the entire 3-year study period. Discharge was mainly predicted as subsurface flow with little surface runoff. In reality, surface runoff was a major flow component despite the fairly coarse soil texture. In the second step, additional process knowledge was gained during a joint field visit. The occurence of gully erosion and surface crusting was detected and implemented into the models. Consequently, model predictions changed considerably. The previous simulations dominated by subsurface flow changed to surface flow-dominated simulations. Additional data, provided in the third step, mainly confirmed the parameterisations and assisted in a better definition of initial conditions and subsurface storage. The comparison indicates that, in addition to model philosophy, the personal judgement of the modellers was a major source of the differences in the model results. The model parameterisation and choice of initial conditions depended on the modeller's judgement and were therefore a result of the modellers' experience in terms of model types and case studies.

  • Assessing the impact of land use change on hydrology by ensemble modeling (LUCHEM). I : Model intercomparison with current land use
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Advances in Water Resources. - : Elsevier BV. - 0309-1708 .- 1872-9657. ; 32:2, s. 129-146
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper introduces the project on 'Assessing the impact of land use change on hydrology by ensemble modeling (LUCHEM)' that aims at investigating the envelope of predictions on changes in hydrological fluxes due to land use change. As part of a series of four papers, this paper outlines the motivation and setup of LUCHEM, and presents a model intercomparison for the present-day simulation results. Such an intercomparison provides a valuable basis to investigate the effects of different model structures on model predictions and paves the ground for the analysis of the performance of multi-model ensembles and the reliability of the scenario predictions in companion papers. in this study, we applied a set of 10 lumped, semi-lumped and fully distributed hydrological models that have been previously used in land use change studies to the low mountainous Dill catchment. Germany. Substantial differences in model performance were observed with Nash-Sutcliffe efficiencies ranging from 0.53 to 0.92. Differences in model performance were attributed to (1) model input data, (2) model calibration and (3) the physical basis of the models. The models were applied with two sets of input data: an original and a homogenized data set. This homogenization of precipitation, temperature and leaf area index was performed to reduce the variation between the models. Homogenization improved the comparability of model simulations and resulted in a reduced average bias, although some variation in model data input remained. The effect of the physical differences between models on the long-term water balance was mainly attributed to differences in how models represent evapotranspiration. Semi-lumped and lumped conceptual models slightly outperformed the fully distributed and physically based models. This was attributed to the automatic model calibration typically used for this type of models. Overall, however, we conclude that there was no superior model if several measures of model performance are considered and that all models are suitable to participate in further multi-model ensemble set-ups and land use change scenario investigations.

  • Reversible hydrogen storage in NaF-Al composites
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Journal of Alloys and Compounds. - : Elsevier BV. - 0925-8388. ; 477:1-2, s. 76-80
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This work demonstrates that hydrogen can be reversibly stored in a composite of NaF and Al. NaF and Al reacts to a mixture of Na3AlF6 and NaAlH4 via hydridofluoride phases of the form Na3AlH6-xFx. The analysis of thermodynamics based on literature standard enthalpies of formation yields the technically favourable enthalpy of reaction of roughly 35 kJ/mol H-2 for a theoretical gravimetric hydrogen storage capacity of 3.3 wt%. Reaction mechanisms are discussed with respect to substitution of hydrogen by fluorine in complex hydrides. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

  • Ca(BH4)(2)-MgF2 Reversible Hydrogen Storage: Reaction Mechanisms and Kinetic Properties
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physical Chemistry C. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 1932-7447 .- 1932-7455. ; 115:9, s. 3762-3768
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A composite of Ca(BH4)(2)-MgF2 is proposed as a reversible hydrogen storage system. The dehydrogenation and rehydrogenation reaction mechanisms are investigated by in situ time-resolved synchrotron radiation powder X-ray diffraction (SR-PXD) and Raman spectroscopy. The formation of an intermediate phase (CaF2-xHx) is observed during rehydrogenation. The hydrogen content of 4.3 wt % is obtained within 4 h during the first dehydrogenation at isothermal and isobaric conditions of 330 degrees C and 0.5 bar H-2, respectively. The cycling efficiency is evaluated by three release and uptake cycles together with absorbed hydrogen content in the range 5.1-5.8 wt % after 2.5 h (T = 330 degrees C and p(H-2) = 130 bar). The kinetic properties on the basis of hydrogen absorption are comparable for all cycles. As compared to pure Ca(BH4)(2) and Ca(BH4)(2)-MgH2 composite, Ca(BH4)(2)-MgF2 composite reveals the kinetic destabilization and the reproducibility of hydrogen storage capacities during cycling, respectively.

  • Comparative predictions of discharge from an artificial catchment (Chicken Creek) using sparse data
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Hydrology and Earth System Sciences. - : Copernicus GmbH. - 1027-5606 .- 1607-7938. ; 13:11, s. 2069-2094
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Ten conceptually different models in predicting discharge from the artificial Chicken Creek catchment in North-East Germany were used for this study. Soil texture and topography data were given to the modellers, but discharge data was withheld. We compare the predictions with the measurements from the 6 ha catchment and discuss the conceptualization and parameterization of the models. The predictions vary in a wide range, e.g. with the predicted actual evapotranspiration ranging from 88 to 579 mm/y and the discharge from 19 to 346 mm/y. The predicted components of the hydrological cycle deviated systematically from the observations, which were not known to the modellers. Discharge was mainly predicted as subsurface discharge with little direct runoff. In reality, surface runoff was a major flow component despite the fairly coarse soil texture. The actual evapotranspiration (AET) and the ratio between actual and potential ET was systematically overestimated by nine of the ten models. None of the model simulations came even close to the observed water balance for the entire 3-year study period. The comparison indicates that the personal judgement of the modellers was a major source of the differences between the model results. The most important parameters to be presumed were the soil parameters and the initial soil-water content while plant parameterization had, in this particular case of sparse vegetation, only a minor influence on the results.
