  • Explanation of the hints for a 95 GeV Higgs boson within a 2-Higgs Doublet Model
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP). - : Springer. - 1126-6708 .- 1029-8479. ; :5
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We suggest an explanation for and explore the consequences of the excess around 95 GeV in the di-photon and di-tau invariant mass distributions recently reported by the CMS collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), together with the discrepancy that has long been observed at the Large Electron-Positron (LEP) collider in the b¯¯b invariant mass. Interestingly, the most recent findings announced by the ATLAS collaboration do not contradict, or even support, these intriguing observations. Their search in the di-photon final state similarly reveals an excess of events within the same mass range, albeit with a bit lower significance, thereby corroborating and somewhat reinforcing the observations made by CMS.We demonstrate that the lightest CP-even Higgs boson in the general 2-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) Type-III can explain simultaneously the observed excesses at approximately 1.3 σ C.L. while satisfying up-to-date theoretical and experimental constraints. Moreover, the 2HDM Type-III predicts an excess in the pp→t¯tHSM production channel of the 125 GeV Higgs boson, HSM. This effect is caused by a up to 12% enhancement of the HSMtt Yukawa coupling in comparison to that predicted by the Standard Model. Such an effect can be tested at the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC), which can either discover or exclude the scenario we suggest. This unique characteristic of the 2HDM Type-III makes this scenario with the 95 GeV resonance very attractive for further theoretical and experimental investigations at the (HL-)LHC and future colliders.

  • Explaining the 96 GeV Di-photon anomaly in a generic 2HDM Type-III
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Physics Letters B. - : Elsevier. - 0370-2693 .- 1873-2445. ; 832
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Motivated by results recently reported by the CMS Collaboration about an excess in the di-photon spectrum at about 96 GeV, especially when combined with another long-standing anomaly at the same value in the b (b) over bar invariant mass spectrum in four-jet events collected at LEP, we show that a possible explanation to both phenomena can be found at 1slevel in a generic 2-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) of Type-III in presence of a specific Yukawa texture, wherein Lepton Flavour Violating (LFV) (neutral) currents are induced at tree level. Bounds from Higgs data play a major role in limiting the parameter space of this scenario, yet we find solutions with m(H)= 125GeV and m(h)= 96GeV consistent with current theoretical and experimental bounds.

  • Probing charged Higgs bosons in the two-Higgs-doublet model type II with vectorlike quarks
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Physical Review D. - : American Physical Society. - 2470-0010 .- 2470-0029. ; 109:5
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We study the phenomenology of charged Higgs bosons (H±) and vectorlike quarks (VLQs), denoted as T, the latter possessing a charge identical to the top quark one, within the framework of the two-Higgs-doublet model type II (2HDM-II). Upon examining two scenarios, one featuring a singlet (T) [2HDM−II+(T)] and another a doublet (TB) [2HDM−II+(TB)], we discover that the presence of VLQs has a significant effect on the (pseudo)scalar sector of the 2HDM-II. In particular, this leads to a reduction in the strict constraint on the mass of the charged Higgs boson, which is imposed by B-physics observables, specifically B→Xsγ. The observed reduction stems from modifications in the charged Higgs couplings to the Standard Model top and bottom quarks. Notably, the degree of this reduction varies distinctly between the singlet 2HDM+(T) and doublet 2HDM+(TB) scenarios. Additionally, our investigation extends to constraints imposed by the oblique parameters S and T on the VLQ mixing angles. Furthermore, to facilitate efficient exploration of the “2HDM−II+VLQ” parameter space, we present results on pair production of VLQs T (pp→T¯T), followed by T→H±b and H±→tb decays, yielding a distinctive 2t4b final state. This investigation thus provides valuable insights guiding the search for extended Higgs and quark sectors at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN.
