- Discrimination by automatic ribotyping and random amplified polymorphic DNA PCR, RAPD, was compared for 40 different B. cereus dairy isolates, 4 different B. mycoides isolates and 6 culture collection strains. RAPD-PCR has previously shown to be useful for tracing contamination routes of B. cereus to milk. Automatic ribotyping using EcoRI and PvuII separated the B. cereus and B. mycoides isolates/strains into 36 different ribotypes. RAPD-typing with primer 1 (5?-CCGAGTCCA-3?) and primer 2 (5?-CCGGCGGCG-3?) generated 40 different RAPD-profiles. However, 17 isolates clustered into 8 groups, irrespective of the primer and restriction enzyme used and in all but one case, the isolates with the same pattern were isolated from the same dairy. To conclude RAPD-typing was only slightly more discriminatory than automatic ribotyping and therefore automatic ribotyping proved to be a useful, standardized and quick method to discriminate between B. cereus strains. As the two methods are based on completely different genetic properties, one of the methods can be used to confirm the results from the other method, when identity among isolates needs to be verified.

- The fabrication and performance of highly strained double-quantum well InGaAs/GaAs vertical-cavity lasers with record-long emission wavelength of 1260 nm at room temperature is reported. Depending on device diameter, the minimum threshold current is in the low mA-regime while the maximum output power exceeds 1 mW. The devices work continuous-wave over a wide temperature range of at least 10-120degrees C.

- E-service development has grown to become a daily practice in most public organizations as a means for realizing digital agendas and e-government initiatives on different levels (local, regional, national and transnational governmental levels). Public e-service development is often an inter-organizational (IO) effort with multiple actors and organizations involved in the multi-faceted dimensions of design, development and delivery decisions. Still, there is a lack of research focusing on IO public e-service development practices in particular. In order to address this lack we elaborate on reported challenges and their implications for IO public e-service development in practice. By returning to two empirical cases of IO public e-service development, the IO dimension is evolved. Our purpose is to highlight challenges in IO public e-service development with implications for research and practice. Findings are presented as eight emerging lessons learned from an inside-out perspective related to phases in IO public e-service development processes.

- En ny tunnel med 70 m längd byggdes på 450 m djup i Äspölaboratoriet 2003. Det ställdes speciella krav på begränsning av sprängskadezonens djup med hänsyn till planerade experiment.Tunneln drevs med galleri och bågformad låg pall för att minimera sprängskador i sulan. I huvuddelen av tunneln användes initieringsystemet Nonel MS och LP. I de tre sista salvorna av galleriet testades elektroniksprängkapslar. Skonsamhetsgraden för vägg och tak var normal med en tillåten skadezon på 0,3 m. Däremot tillämpades samma skonsamhetsgrad även för botten. I övrigt användes normal sprängteknik och normala sprängämnen som Dynotex 17 och Dynorex.Arbetet följdes noggrant genom dokumentation av utfört arbete. Vibrationsmätningar utfördes på nära håll samt på stort avstånd, 1,5 km från arbetsplatsen. Språng¬skador har undersökts genom sågning och sprickkartering.Föredraget kommer att presentera projektet, framförallt (1) erfarenheter från vibra¬tionsmätningar av samtliga sprängsalvor (noggrannheten i geofonmätningarna; totala antalet spränghål i salvorna; bomsalvor; avståndet från salvorna och geo¬logiska strukturer), (2) P-vågshastigheten i tunnelns närområde, (3) faktorer som påverkar utvecklingen av sprängskador, och (4) förslag på kontrollåtgärder som kan leda till att begränsa skadezonen i praktiskt tunnelarbete.

- Laboratory work in physics has traditionally focused on the verification of facts, theories and laws. In contrast, this article describes how laboratory tasks can be used to promote students understanding about the nature of science and scientific inquiry. In the project reported here, students learn about measurement uncertainties and a simplified graphical method for propagating errors. By using this knowledge to compare the precision of two common methods to determine the spring constant, Hooke's Law and simple harmonic motion, students learn about the nature of experimentation in physics. From this specific example, comparisons can then be made with authentic research to highlight more general aspects of the nature of science and scientific inquiry.
