Funktionalistisk samhällsanalys. En kritisk granskning.
- 1964

Rapport (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
- An attempt is made to characterize different types of functionalistic analysis with respect to their scienti¬fic properties e.g. their requirement of confirmation. The most ambitious type of analysis, the complete functionalistic explanation, seems difficult to realize with respect to logical and confirmational prerequisites. Existing attempts e.g. regarding social stratification and incest tabus do not fulfil these requirements. Another type of functional analysis, the incomplete functionalistic explanation seems more possible but is of less scientific interest. The theleological character of certain functionalistic approaches implies serious disadvantages e. g. disregards causal chains. The lack of criterion of functional adequacy often leads to a conservative bias in functional analysis.
