  • The stochastic restricted ridge estimator in generalized linear models
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Statistical papers. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0932-5026 .- 1613-9798. ; 62, s. 1421-1460
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Many researchers have studied restricted estimation in the context of exact and stochastic restrictions in linear regression. Some ideas in linear regression, where the ridge and restricted estimations are the well known, were carried to the generalized linear models which provide a wide range of models, including logistic regression, Poisson regression, etc. This study considers the estimation of generalized linear models under stochastic restrictions on the parameters. Furthermore, the sampling distribution of the estimators under the stochastic restriction, the compatibility test and choice of the biasing parameter are given. A real data set is analyzed and simulation studies concerning Binomial and Poisson distributions are conducted. The results show that when stochastic restrictions and ridge idea are simultaneously applied to the estimation methods, the new estimator gains efficiency in terms of having smaller variance and mean square error.

  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The material innovations and developments can play a key role in realizing solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) commercialization. However, it seems missing in the long SOFC R&D strategy. Recent R&D. on innovative ceria-based composites (CBCs) make a breakthrough and open a new research subject on low-temperature (300-600 degrees C) SOFCs. Low temperatures create many freedoms to develop next generation fuel cell technology for commercialization.

    • This paper focuses R&D activities and specifically the choices of where, and by whom, they are performed. We propose the term “rightsourcing” for the balance of location at home and abroad combined with the balance of in- and outsourcing. We identify the studied companies, Canon and Honda, to be idea and research based. The rightsourcing of their R&D activities showed that R&D represents core competence. In theory it is often claimed that core competence could or should not be outsourced. Canon and Honda went one step further. They declared that R&D was their heart and soul, based in their core values imagines and dreams. Core competence founded in core values was a strong barrier against outsourcing. Canon and Honda took advantage of regional heterogeneity in resources and customer preferences, when they located R&D. We introduce the rightsourcing matrix as a tool to visualize rightsourcing of R&D.

  • Performance of Cell-Free Massive MIMO With Rician Fading and Phase Shifts
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications. - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). - 1536-1276 .- 1558-2248. ; 18:11, s. 5299-5315
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper, we study the uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) spectral efficiency (SE) of a cell-free massive multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) system over Rician fading channels. The phase of the line-of-sight (LoS) path is modeled as a uniformly distributed random variable to take the phase-shifts due to mobility and phase noise into account. Considering the availability of prior information at the access points (APs), the phase-aware minimum mean square error (MMSE), non-aware linear MMSE (LMMSE), and least-square (LS) estimators are derived. The MMSE estimator requires perfectly estimated phase knowledge whereas the LMMSE and LS are derived without it. In the UL, a two-layer decoding method is investigated in order to mitigate both coherent and non-coherent interference. Closed-form UL SE expressions with phase-aware MMSE, LMMSE, and LS estimators are derived for maximum-ratio (MR) combining in the first layer and optimal large-scale fading decoding (LSFD) in the second layer. In the DL, two different transmission modes are studied: coherent and non-coherent. Closed-form DL SE expressions for both transmission modes with MR precoding are derived for the three estimators. Numerical results show that the LSFD improves the UL SE performance and coherent transmission mode performs much better than non-coherent transmission in the DL. Besides, the performance loss due to the lack of phase information depends on the pilot length and it is small when the pilot contamination is low.

  • Optimization of Manufacturing Parameters and Tensile Specimen Geometry for Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D-Printed PETG
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Materials. - : MDPI. - 1996-1944 .- 1996-1944. ; 14:10
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Additive manufacturing provides high design flexibility, but its use is restricted by limited mechanical properties compared to conventional production methods. As technology is still emerging, several approaches exist in the literature for quantifying and improving mechanical properties. In this study, we investigate characterizing materials' response of additive manufactured structures, specifically by fused deposition modeling (FDM). A comparative analysis is achieved for four different tensile test specimens for polymers based on ASTM D3039 and ISO 527-2 standards. Comparison of specimen geometries is studied with the aid of computations based on the Finite Element Method (FEM). Uniaxial tensile tests are carried out, after a careful examination of different slicing approaches for 3D printing. We emphasize the effects of the chosen slicer parameters on the position of failures in the specimens and propose a simple formalism for measuring effective mechanical properties of 3D-printed structures.

  • Wideband and efficient watt-level SiGe BiCMOS switching mode power amplifier using continuous class-E modes theory
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Digest of Papers - IEEE Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits Symposium. - 1529-2517. - 9781479938629 ; , s. 243-246
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper, a generic, wide-band switch mode power amplifier (SMPA) design approach is developed based on the continuous class-E modes theory. A watt level, 1.3-2.2 GHz SiGe BiCMOS class-E SMPA is realized for experimental verification. The prototype provides collector efficiencies higher than 70% and output power levels higher than 29 dBm across 1.3-2.2 GHz band, fully confirming the validity of the proposed design approach.
