  • Proprioceptive deficits after ACL injury: are they clinically relevant?
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: British journal of sports medicine. - : BMJ. - 1473-0480 .- 0306-3674. ; 46:3, s. 180-192
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objective To establish the clinical relevance of proprioceptive deficits reported after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. Material and methods A literature search was done in electronic databases from January 1990 to June 2009. Inclusion criteria for studies were ACL deficient (ACL-D) and ACL reconstruction (ACL-R) articles written in English, Dutch or German and calculation of correlation(s) between proprioception tests and clinical outcome measures. Clinical outcome measures were muscle strength, laxity, hop test, balance, patient-reported outcome, objective knee score rating, patient satisfaction or return to sports. Studies included in the review were assessed on their methodological quality. Results In total 1161 studies were identified of which 24 met the inclusion criteria. Pooling of all data was not possible due to substantial differences in measurement techniques and data analysis. Most studies failed to perform reliability measurements of the test device used. In general, the correlation between proprioception and laxity, balance, hop tests and patient outcome was low. Four studies reported a moderate correlation between proprioception, strength, balance or hop test. Conclusion There is limited evidence that proprioceptive deficits as detected by commonly used tests adversely affect function in ACL-D and ACL-R patients. Development of new tests to determine the relevant role of the sensorimotor system is needed. These tests should ideally be used as screening tests for primary and secondary prevention of ACL injury.

  • 100% complete assignment of non-labile H-1, C-13, and N-15 signals for calcium-loaded calbindin D-9k P43G
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Biomolecular NMR Assignments. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1874-2718 .- 1874-270X. ; 5:1, s. 79-84
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Here we present the 100% complete assignment chemical shift of non-labile H-1, N-15 and C-13 nuclei of Calbindin D-9k P43G. The assignment includes all non-exchangeable side chain nuclei, including ones that are rarely reported, such as LysN zeta as well as the termini. NMR experiments required to achieve truly complete assignments are discussed. To the best of our knowledge our assignments for Calbindin D-9k extend beyond previous studies reaching near-completeness (Vis et al. in Biochem 33:14858-14870, 1994; Yamazaki et al. in J Am Chem Soc 116:6464-6465, 1994; Yamazaki et al. in Biochem 32:5656-5669, 1993b).

  • Identification of point sources in gamma rays using U-shaped convolutional neural networks and a data challenge
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Astronomy and Astrophysics. - : EDP Sciences. - 0004-6361 .- 1432-0746. ; 656, s. A62-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Context. At GeV energies, the sky is dominated by the interstellar emission from the Galaxy. With limited statistics and spatial resolution, accurately separating point sources is therefore challenging. Aims. Here we present the first application of deep learning based algorithms to automatically detect and classify point sources from gamma-ray data. For concreteness we refer to this approach as AutoSourceID. Methods. To detect point sources, we utilized U-shaped convolutional networks for image segmentation and k-means for source clustering and localization. We also explored the Centroid-Net algorithm, which is designed to find and count objects. Using two algorithms allows for a cross check of the results, while a combination of their results can be used to improve performance. The training data are based on 9.5 years of exposure from The Fermi Large Area Telescope (Fermi-LAT) and we used source properties of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) and pulsars (PSRs) from the fourth Fermi-LAT source catalog in addition to several models of background interstellar emission. The results of the localization algorithm are fed into a classification neural network that is trained to separate the three general source classes (AGNs, PSRs, and FAKE sources). Results. We compared our localization algorithms qualitatively with traditional methods and find them to have similar detection thresholds. We also demonstrate the robustness of our source localization algorithms to modifications in the interstellar emission models, which presents a clear advantage over traditional methods. The classification network is able to discriminate between the three classes with typical accuracy of similar to 70%, as long as balanced data sets are used in classification training. We published online our training data sets and analysis scripts and invite the community to join the data challenge aimed to improve the localization and classification of gamma-ray point sources.

  • Order Odonata
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Thorp and Covich's Freshwater Invertebrates. - Amsterdam : Academic Press. - 9780123850263 ; , s. 894-932
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • This chapter introduces the insect order Odonata. It provides the most recent phylogeny and up-to-date systematics as well as genera and species numbers of the various families in the biogeographic regions. We also present an overview about the general biology, ecology and behavior of Odonata. This includes details on morphology and ultrastructures. We also attempt an updated categorization of odonate life cycle types. The subchapters on ecology and behavior focus on various aspects of habitat selection and microhabitat occupancy, including effects of biotic interactions and antipredation behavior. Finally, we summarize collection and sampling methods for adult and larval Odonata. © 2015 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved
