  • The European Cancer Patient's Bill of Rights, update and implementation 2016
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Esmo Open. - : Elsevier BV. - 2059-7029. ; 1:6
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this implementation phase of the European Cancer Patient's Bill of Rights (BoR), we confirm the following three patient-centred principles that underpin this initiative: 1. The right of every European citizen to receive the most accurate information and to be proactively involved in his/her care. 2. The right of every European citizen to optimal and timely access to a diagnosis and to appropriate specialised care, underpinned by research and innovation. 3. The right of every European citizen to receive care in health systems that ensure the best possible cancer prevention, the earliest possible diagnosis of their cancer, improved outcomes, patient rehabilitation, best quality of life and affordable health care. Agree our high-level goal. The vision of 70% longterm survival for patients with cancer in 2035, promoting cancer prevention and cancer control and the associated progress in ensuring good patient experience and quality of life. Establish the major mechanisms to underpin its delivery. (1) The systematic and rigorous sharing of best practice between and across European cancer healthcare systems and (2) the active promotion of Research and Innovation focused on improving outcomes; (3) Improving access to new and established cancer care by sharing best practice in the development, approval, procurement and reimbursement of cancer diagnostic tests and treatments. Work with other organisations to bring into being a Europe based centre that will (1) systematically identify, evaluate and validate and disseminate best practice in cancer management for the different countries and regions and (2) promote Research and Innovation and its translation to maximise its impact to improve outcomes.

  • Donor safety : the role of the WMDA in ensuring the safety of volunteer unrelated donors: clinical and ethical considerations
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Bone Marrow Transplantation. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0268-3369 .- 1476-5365. ; 45:5, s. 832-838
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Since the beginning of hematopoietic stem cell harvesting from volunteer unrelated donors, ensuring donor safety has been a necessary goal of all parties involved in the process. As donation of BM or PBSCs is not in the interest of the donor's own physical health, donor registries and transplantation centers must take into account both medical and ethical aspects involved in the donation procedure. One of the principal goals leading to the formation of the World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA) was to establish internationally acceptable standards for all aspects of unrelated donor care.

  • Reduction of potential ennoblement of stainless steel in natural seawater by an ecofriendly biopolymer
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering. - : Elsevier Ltd. - 2213-3437. ; 8:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The effect of biofilm formation on passive stainless steel in seawater environments is of primary importance since it leads to potential ennoblement of surfaces and subsequently to localized corrosion such as pitting and crevice corrosion. This study aims at developing an ecofriendly alginate biopolymer containing both non-toxic calcium and a limited amount of biocidal zinc ions which inhibits this effect. For this purpose, calcium alginate containing less than 1 % of zinc ions localized in the vicinity of the steel surface in natural and renewed seawater is demonstrated to reduce significantly the ennoblement process of steel. After 1 month of immersion, a mass loss of only 4 % of the active material is observed authorizing thereby long-term protection of steel in real environment.

  • Cathodic Protection in Arctic Conditions Study Assesses Corrosivity of the Environment at the Yamal LNG Carrier Terminal in Siberia, Russian Federation
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Materials performance. - : National Assoc. of Corrosion Engineers International. - 0094-1492. ; 57:8, s. 26-30
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Yamal LNG, one of the largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects in the world, processes natural gas from the giant onshore South Tambey gas and condensate field located on the Yamal Peninsula in the Arctic region of the Russian Federation. Yamal LNG will produce reserves of 4.6 billion bbl (731 billion L) of oil equivalent. The project includes an integrated gas treatment and liquefaction facility with three liquefaction trains (each with a capacity of 5.5 million tons per year), storage tanks, a port with 15 ARC 7 ice-class LNG carriers with a capacity of 170,000 m(3) each, and airport infrastructure.

  • Field cathodic protection study in the specific artic conditions of the Yamal gas carrier terminal
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: NACE - International Corrosion Conference SeriesVolume 2018-April, 2018Corrosion Conference and Expo 2018; Phoenix; United States; 15 April 2018 through 19 April 2018. - : National Assoc. of Corrosion Engineers International. - 9781510864405
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • For most projects, cathodic protection (CP) design can be performed using CP standards or existing data from literature and field feed-back. It was not the case for the particular environment of the YAMAL gas carrier terminal project, planned in Sabetta (Siberia - Federation of Russia). This particular area is located between the Kara sea and a river mouth in Yamal peninsula (Artic region). It involves very different conditions in terms of salinity, temperature, liquid/ice phases, all depending on icing/deicing seasons and on the water depth. These very specific conditions can hardly be simulated at laboratory scale and required a specific corrosion and CP study with measurements on site. The global aim of this quantitative study was to collect field data to help at defining an adapted corrosion protection system for carbon steel immerged structure (e. g. berths), and to forecast the related corrosion risks. Regarding the extreme conditions of the site, the main challenge was to design adapted arrays containing corrosion and CP sensors (to be deployed on site), to get representative quantitative data. All systems have been qualified at laboratory scale before use on field site. The deployment was successful and allowed getting actual polarization curves, and local initial corrosion data. In parallel, the stability of zinc galvanic anodes has been evaluated in this resistive environment. For both corrosion and CP data, different results have been highlighted for surface and bottom waters, and for ice & liquid phases. Modelling can now be used to assess the efficiency and select the CP system (i. e. galvanic anode or impressed current)

  • Monitoring uniform and localised corrosion by a radiofrequency sensing method
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Sensors and actuators. B, Chemical. - : Elsevier B.V.. - 0925-4005 .- 1873-3077. ; 257, s. 988-992
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A new method for atmospheric corrosion monitoring based on the variation of radiofrequency (RF) wave propagation in a resonator during its corrosion is presented. The ability of the proposed sensor to differentiate between uniform and localized corrosion mechanisms is demonstrated by considering two identical open stub microstrip resonators produced in zinc and aluminum materials, respectively. For that purpose, experimental characterization of electromagnetic wave propagation in the resonators and simulations are compared. The proposed sensitive resonator should therefore be considered as the key element of new corrosion mimetic sensors.
