  • Case report : Two sisters with a germline CHEK2 variant and distinct endocrine neoplasias
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Frontiers in Endocrinology. - : Frontiers Media SA. - 1664-2392. ; 13
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Genetic testing has become the standard of care for many disease states. As a result, physicians treating patients who have tumors often rely on germline genetic testing results for making clinical decisions. Cases of two sisters carrying a germline CHEK2 variant are highlighted whereby possible other genetic drivers were discovered on tumor analysis. CHEK2 (also referred to as CHK2) loss of function has been firmly associated with breast cancer development. In this case report, two siblings with a germline CHEK2 mutation also had distinct endocrine tumors. Pituitary adenoma and pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (PNET) was found in the first sibling and pheochromocytoma (PCC) discovered in the second sibling. Although pituitary adenomas, PNETs, and PCC have been associated with NF1 gene mutations, the second sister with a PCC did have proven germline CHEK2 with a pathogenic somatic NF1 mutation. We highlight the clinical point that unless the tumor is sequenced, the real driver mutation that is causing the patients tumor may remain unknown.

  • Graphene-based biosensors for the detection of prostate cancer protein biomarkers: a review
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: BMC Chemistry. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 2661-801X. ; 13:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Prostate cancer (PC) is the sixth most common cancer type in the world, which causes approximately 10% of total cancer fatalities. The detection of protein biomarkers in body fluids is the key topic for the diagnosis and prognosis of PC. Highly sensitive screening of PC is the most effective approach for reducing mortality. Thus, there are a growing number of literature that recognizes the importance of new technologies for early diagnosis of PC. Graphene is playing an important role in the biosensor field with remarkable physical, optical, electrochemical and magnetic properties. Many recent studies demonstrated the potential of graphene materials for sensitive detection of protein biomarkers. In this review, the graphene-based biosensors toward PC analysis are mainly discussed in two groups: Firstly, novel biosensor interfaces were constructed through the modification of graphene materials onto sensor surfaces. Secondly, ingenious signal amplification strategies were developed using graphene materials as catalysts or carriers. Graphene-based biosensors have exhibited remarkable performance with high sensitivities, wide detection ranges, and long-term stabilities.

  • Capacity analysis of selection cooperation in wireless ad-hoc networks
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: IEEE Communications Letters. - 1089-7798 .- 1558-2558. ; 15:11, s. 1212-1214
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this letter, we analyze the transmission capacity of selection cooperation (SC) in wireless ad-hoc networks. We first derive the distribution of decoded relay set which follows inhomogeneous Poisson point process (PPP) and then present the closed-form expressions for the outage probability and transmission capacity. Furthermore, we propose an upper bound of source node density given an outage probability constraint and find an optimal transmitter density at which the transmission capacity reaches its maximum. Numerical results show that the performance gain provided by SC can be optimally adjusted by selecting appropriate node density. It is also shown that SC further expands advantage at severer large-scale fading.
