  • Entrepreneurial Edge in the Age of Migration: Systematic Review of Migrant Entrepreneurship Literature
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Global Migration, Entrepreneurship and Society. - BINGLEY : Emerald Group Publishing. - 2040-7246. - 9781839820960 - 1839820969 - 9781839820977 ; , s. 11-33
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • In recent years, we have witnessed a surge in academic interest towards migrants and their entrepreneurial endeavours. This has resulted in valuable insights about immigrant, transnational, ethnic and diaspora entrepreneurship. By reviewing 158 articles published in the fields of migrant entrepreneurship, transnational entrepreneurship, ethnic and diaspora entrepreneurship over the last decade, the author maps the migrant entrepreneurship field according to the level of analysis and suggests potential avenues for the development of the field. Blurred boundaries between different streams of literature can potentially lead to duplication of efforts and harm cumulativity of knowledge. Therefore, the author summarises the key findings at each level of analysis, identifies the gaps and most pressing research questions. The author concluded that the field would benefit from (1) more specific definitions and assessment of whether observed findings stem from immigrant-, transnational-, ethnic- or diasporarelated factors; (2) appreciating the multilevel nature of the phenomenon; and (3) clarifying the boundary conditions. This review contributes to the accumulation of knowledge in two ways. First, it synthesises the findings in the fields of transnational, immigrant, ethnic and diaspora entrepreneurship under the framework of migrant entrepreneurship. Second, it suggests potential research directions across three levels of analysis and in-between those levels.

  • Producing and Consuming Sustainability in Business Education
  • 2021. - 1st
  • Ingår i: Sustainable Consumption and Production. Volume I, Challenges and Development. - Cham, Switzerland : Palgrave Macmillan. - 9783030563714 - 9783030563707 ; , s. 165-180
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Sustainable production and consumption are often associated with systems and products surrounding firms and industries. What is often neglected is the production and consumption of sustainability mindsets—the sustainability literacy and education of people behind these endeavours and the alignment of the competencies demanded with the ones being taught. Thus, this chapter aims to focus on that overlooked piece of the puzzle—the production and consumption of sustainability literacy, particularly in business education. Recent trends have shown that business schools across the globe are transforming their strategy by widening their societal engagement and integrating sustainability into their curriculum. Either as a separate course or integrated with other courses or as an independent programme, sustainability has become one of the topics that has been getting the attention of programme managers, teaching teams, and students alike. It remains blurry though what these courses aim to achieve, and how aligned are the sustainability-related competencies being taught to the ones demanded by the market. In this chapter, we analyse the potential and pitfalls of the production and consumption of sustainability courses, as we review existing studies and analyse four specific approaches undertaken by business schools—an elective course, an integrated course, a degree programme, and leading sustainability transformation by example. We aim to provide useful insights into the design and development of sustainability literacy in business schools.

  • The missing pieces of the PuO2 nanoparticle puzzle
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Nanoscale. - : ROYAL SOC CHEMISTRY. - 2040-3364 .- 2040-3372. ; 12:35, s. 18039-18048
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The nanoscience field often produces results more mystifying than any other discipline. It has been argued that changes in the plutonium dioxide (PuO2) particle size from bulk to nano can have a drastic effect on PuO2 properties. Here we report a full characterization of PuO2 nanoparticles (NPs) at the atomic level and probe their local and electronic structures by a variety of methods available at the synchrotron, including extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) at the Pu L-3 edge, X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) in high energy resolution fluorescence detection (HERFD) mode at the Pu L-3 and M-4 edges, high energy X-ray scattering (HEXS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The particles were synthesized from precursors with different oxidation states of plutonium (III, IV, and V) under various environmentally and waste storage relevant conditions (pH 8 and pH > 10). Our experimental results analyzed with state-of-the-art theoretical approaches demonstrate that well dispersed, crystalline NPs with a size of similar to 2.5 nm in diameter are always formed in spite of diverse chemical conditions. Identical crystal structures and the presence of only the Pu(IV) oxidation state in all NPs, reported here for the first time, indicate that the structure of PuO2 NPs is very similar to that of the bulk PuO2. All methods give complementary information and show that investigated fundamental properties of PuO2 NPs, rather than being exotic, are very similar to those of the bulk PuO2.

  • Sustainability, COVID-19 and staying focused on the longer term: A pandemic that strikes unequally and can prevent sustainability investments
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Sweden through the crisis. - Stockholm : Stockholm School of Economics Institute for Research. - 9789186797386 ; , s. 289-301
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic and social and economic responses are amplifying social inequalities and hampering strategic, long-term investments into sustainability by firms and governments. Researchers affiliated with Misum (Mistra Center for Sustainable Markets) discuss how the global response to the pandemic has slowed progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015. The article emphasizes that low-income groups are most affected by the economic consequences of the coronavirus crisis, that the pandemic is reducing the ability and willingness of firms to make strategic investments, and that companies and governments need to deploy resources that ensure a sustainable recovery from the crisis.
