  • An open, randomised, multi-centre study, comparing straight and tapered apex implants design, in partially and totally edentulous maxillae
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Acta Odontologica Scandinavica. - : Informa UK Limited. - 0001-6357 .- 1502-3850. ; 79:7, s. 492-498
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The design of the commercially available implant OsseoSpeed (R) (control) was changed to a tapered apex with a smaller apical diameter; OsseoSpeed(R) TX (test). The present study evaluated the clinical outcome of marginal bone level as primary outcome, and cumulative implant survivalrate, primary stability and condition of the peri-implant mucosa as secondary outcomes, one year after loading. 92 subjects (150 implants, ten centres), with partially or totally edentate maxillae were randomised to receive either test or control implants. One to six implants were placed in each subject using a one-stage surgical procedure. Subjects received a permanent prosthesis 10-12 weeks after implant placement and were followed for one year. 47 subjects in the test group received 82 implants and 45 subjects in the control group received 68 implants. Marginal bone level alterations from loading to 1-year follow-up was -0.02 +/- 0.41 mm (mean +/- SD) and -0.03 +/- 0.38 mm (mean +/- SD) for the test and the control group, respectively, indicating no difference between the groups. Non-inferiority was declared as confidence interval for the difference between control and test implants was no worse than 0.5 mm. The CSR was 98.8% in the test group and 100% in the control group, with no statistically significant difference between the groups. Change of the apical design of a commercially available implant showed no significant effect on marginal bone level and CSR compared to the control implant. Missing data and many investigators may have influenced on the result.

  • Launch of IoT and artificial intelligence to increase the competitiveness in Swedish apple and grapevine production
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Proc of ISHS Acta Horticulturae 1314. - : International Society for Horticultural Science. ; , s. 235-240
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A more globally sustainable management of the horticulture and agriculture industries has high priority and should be available by using new technology. The programme EIP-Agri Sweden (European Innovation Project, Agri in Sweden) has approved a project to develop such an innovation based on new technology. The innovation is a first stage of a decision support solution (or system) to be able to achieve a sustainable and competitive production of fruit and wine. The innovation will be based on tools like sensors, information and communication technology (ICT) and artificial intelligence (AI) to, for example, increase and optimize harvest yield, reduce environmental and climate impact, and decrease labour costs. The results will be included in a platform that can be adaptive in the future to other crops like for example raspberries and strawberries. A digital assistant for field production is planned in the first stage to be developed. A fine meshed network of connected sensors collects climate and other data and sends them over an IoT network to a cloud system. A machine learning system (ML) uses these data together with manual observations of the crop phenological stages during the season, as well as measurements taken by the producers. Examples of manual observations are plant diseases, nutrient deficiency. The machine learning system will work as a Digital Assistant for the producer. Gives, for example, diseases prognosis, nutrient demands, irrigation and optimal dates for harvest, as well as yield quality at harvest. The work in the project is carried out by a cross functional team consisting of producers, experts in food, agriculture and horticulture, measurement-, digitalisation of Food systems, software/system-, marketing-, and AI/ML-experts. Initial progress and results are reported and discussed in this paper.

  • Generating highly polarized nuclear spins in solution using dynamic nuclear polarization
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Instruments & Methods in Physics Research. Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors, and Associated Equipment. - : Elsevier BV. - 0167-5087 .- 0168-9002. ; 526:1-2, s. 173-181
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A method to generate strongly polarized nuclear spins in solution has been developed, using Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (DNP) at a temperature of 1.2 K, and at a field of 3.354 T, corresponding to an electron spin resonance frequency of 94 GHz. Trityl radicals are used to directly polarize C-13 and other low-gamma nuclei. Subsequent to the DNP process, the solid sample is dissolved rapidly with a warm solvent to create a solution of molecules with highly polarized nuclear spins. Two main applications are proposed: high-resolution liquid state NMR with enhanced sensitivity, and the use of the hyper-polarized solution as an MR imaging agent. (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V.
