  • Inner shell excitation, ionization and fragmentation of pyrimidine
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics, Conference Series. - : IOP Publishing. - 1742-6588 .- 1742-6596. ; 212, s. 012002-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The inner shell excitation and ionisation of pyrimidine have been studied at the carbon K edge by near-edge X ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) and X ray photoelectron (XPS) spectroscopies. The theoretical predictions of density functional theory (DFT) provide a satisfactory assignment of the complex spectra of this polyatomic molecule. The fragmentation following the C(1s -1)π* excitation has been investigated by resonant Auger electron-ion coincidence spectroscopy, which allows a site and state selective study.

  • Prevention of chemotherapy- and radiotherapy-induced emesis : Results of the 2004 Perugia International Antiemetic Consensus Conference
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Annals of Oncology. - : Elsevier BV. - 0923-7534 .- 1569-8041. ; 17:1, s. 20-28
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: In the late 1990s, several professional organizations convened antiemetic guideline groups and published the findings of these expert panels. Each of these documents was based on analyses of the available published trials and provided nearly similar recommendations. Nonetheless, small differences in emetic risk categories and treatment recommendations led to confusion in antiemetics selection. With the emergence of new findings and agents since the guidelines were initially published, many of the oncology professional societies have updated the antiemetic guidelines. Materials and methods: A literature review up to March 2004 was carried out using MEDLINE with evaluation of the evidence by an expert panel composed of 23 oncology professionals in clinical medicine, medical oncology, radiation oncology, oncology nursing, statistics, pharmacy, medical policy and decision making, and pharmacology. The experts represented nine oncology professional societies and came from 11 different countries on four continents. Results: Recommendations on antiemetic regimens to prevent emesis induced by high, moderate, low and minimal risk chemotherapy were suggested as well as management of anticipatory emesis. Furthermore, recommendations for refractory emesis, emesis induced by high-dose chemotherapy and radiotherapy and for antiemetics in children receiving chemotherapy were elaborated. Conclusions: Recommendations about antiemetic prophylaxis in patients receiving treatment with chemo- and radiotherapy have been updated by representatives of nine oncological organizations. © 2005 European Society for Medical Oncology.

  • 2D, 2.5D, or 3D? : An Exploratory Study on Multilayer Network Visualisations in Virtual Reality
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics. - : IEEE. - 1077-2626 .- 1941-0506. ; 30:1, s. 469-479
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Relational information between different types of entities is often modelled by a multilayer network (MLN) - a network with subnetworks represented by layers. The layers of an MLN can be arranged in different ways in a visual representation, however, the impact of the arrangement on the readability of the network is an open question. Therefore, we studied this impact for several commonly occurring tasks related to MLN analysis. Additionally, layer arrangements with a dimensionality beyond 2D, which are common in this scenario, motivate the use of stereoscopic displays. We ran a human subject study utilising a Virtual Reality headset to evaluate 2D, 2.5D, and 3D layer arrangements. The study employs six analysis tasks that cover the spectrum of an MLN task taxonomy, from path finding and pattern identification to comparisons between and across layers. We found no clear overall winner. However, we explore the task-to-arrangement space and derive empirical-based recommendations on the effective use of 2D, 2.5D, and 3D layer arrangements for MLNs.

  • Experimental Verification of the Chemical Sensitivity of Two-Site Double Core-Hole States Formed by an X-Ray Free-Electron Laser
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Physical Review Letters. - 0031-9007 .- 1079-7114. ; 108:15, s. 153003-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We have performed x-ray two-photon photoelectron spectroscopy using the Linac Coherent Light Source x-ray free-electron laser in order to study double core-hole (DCH) states of CO2, N2O, and N-2. The experiment verifies the theory behind the chemical sensitivity of two-site DCH states by comparing a set of small molecules with respect to the energy shift of the two-site DCH state and by extracting the relevant parameters from this shift.
