  • Decay-out of the yrast superdeformed band in Nd-136 : Towards an experimental extraction of the neutron pairing gap at large deformation
  • 1999
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. Nuclear Physics. - 0556-2813 .- 1089-490X. ; 60:6
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A study of the Nd-136 nucleus has been performed with the EUROBALL III multidetector to establish the decay-out of the yrast superdeformed (SD) band. Three discrete linking transitions (754, 1456, and 1493 keV) have been discovered, establishing the position of the SD band at 7.03 MeV excitation energy with proposed spin and parity 17((-)) for the lowest observed SD state. Neutron pairing gap parameters for SD shapes have been extracted in Nd isotopes, using the strong-coupling model and odd-even mass difference formulas. The major conclusion of our phenomenological analysis is that the pairing correlations do subsist in the SD configurations of nuclei in the A = 130 mass region. [S0556-2813(99)01312-6].

  • Identification of triaxial strongly deformed bands in Hf-168
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C (Nuclear Physics). - 0556-2813. ; 78:4
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Possible decay pathways associated with three candidates for triaxial strongly deformed (TSD) bands in Hf-168 have been investigated. The spin and excitation energy of the strongest band, TSD1, were determined approximately based on gamma-ray coincidence relationships. Discrete links were established for the second band. The overall agreement between the observed properties of the bands and cranking calculations using the ULTIMATE CRANKER code provides strong support for an interpretation where band TSD1 is associated with a TSD minimum, (epsilon(2),gamma)similar to(0.43,20(degrees)), involving the pi(i(13/2))(2) and the nu(j(15/2)) high-j orbitals. This constitutes the first identification of a TSD band in Hf isotopes, which has been long-predicted by theoretical studies. The second band is understood as being associated with a near-prolate shape and a deformation enhanced with respect to the normal deformed bands. It is proposed to be built on the pi(i(13/2)h(9/2))circle times nu(i(13/2))(2) configuration.

  • Visuo-motor integration, vision perception and attention in mTBI patients. Preliminary findings
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: PloS one. - : Public Library of Science (PLoS). - 1932-6203. ; 16:4, s. e0250598-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Patients with mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBI) often report difficulties in motor coordination and visuo-spatial attention. However, the consequences of mTBI on fine motor and visuo-motor coordination are still not well understood. We aimed to evaluate whether mTBI had a concomitant effect on fine motor ability and visuo-motor integration and whether this is related to visual perception and visuo-spatial attention impairments, including patients at different symptoms stage. Eleven mTBI patients (mean age 22.8 years) and ten healthy controls participated in the study. Visuo-motor integration of fine motor abilities and form recognition were measured with the Beery-Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration test, motion perception was evaluated with motion coherence test, critical flicker fusion was measured with Pocket CFF tester. Visuo-spatial was assessed with the Ruff 2 & 7 Selection Attention Test. mTBI patients showed reduced visuo-motor integration, form recognition, and motor deficits as well as visuo-spatial attention impairment, while motion perception and critical flicker fusion were not impaired. These preliminary findings suggest that the temporary brain insults deriving from mTBI compromise fine motor skills, visuomotor integration, form recognition, and visuo-spatial attention. The impairment in visuo-motor coordination was associated with speed in visuo-attention and correlated with symptoms severity while motor ability was correlated with time since concussion. Given the strong correlation between visuomotor coordination and symptom severity, further investigation with a larger sample seems warranted. Since there appeared to be differences in motor skills with respect to symptom stage, further research is needed to investigate symptom profiles associated with visuomotor coordination and fine motor deficits in mTBI patients.

  • Microwave Susceptibility Observation of Interacting Many-Body Andreev States
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Physical Review Letters. - 1079-7114 .- 0031-9007. ; 129:22
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Electrostatic charging affects the many-body spectrum of Andreev states, yet its influence on their microwave properties has not been elucidated. We developed a circuit quantum electrodynamics probe that, in addition to transition spectroscopy, measures the microwave susceptibility of different states of a semiconductor nanowire weak link with a single dominant (spin-degenerate) Andreev level. We found that the microwave susceptibility does not exhibit a particle-hole symmetry, which we qualitatively explain as an influence of Coulomb interaction. Moreover, our state-selective measurement reveals a large, ?-phase shifted contribution to the response common to all many-body states which can be interpreted as arising from a phase-dependent continuum in the superconducting density of states.
