  • A Pattern for Designing Distributed Heterogeneous Ontologies for Facilitating Application Interoperability
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: EMOI - INTEROP'06, Enterprise Modelling and Ontologies for Interoperability, Proceedings of the Open Interop Workshop on Enterprise Modelling and Ontologies for Interoperability. - : CEUR-WS.org.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The role of ontologies in knowledge base systems is gradually increasing. Along with the growth of Internet based applications and e- commerce, the need for easy interoperability between ontologies is paramount. Today methodologies and design guidelines for building and developing ontologies from scratch exist, and others have focused on evolving step-by-step growth of ontologies as shall be discussed in this paper. However, we find inadequate aid in the design of distributed, heterogeneous and multi-functioned, application ontology, primarily aimed to be the central hub for interoperability between a number of other applications which may or may not be ontology based. In this paper, we present a logical context based ontology design architecture in the form of Principle-Subject-Support(PSS) pattern. The PSS pattern has been used as a guide to analyze and model   several perspectives involved in a practical case study carried out in a military network simulation project to build a distributed repository ontology (DRONT) for interoperability.

  • A semantic approach to simulation component identification and discovery
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: 21st European Modeling and Simulation Symposium, EMSS 2009. - 9788469254141 ; , s. 181-186
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Development of simulations is often a costly process that consumes a lot of time and resources. An appealing approach to reduce the costs involved is to reuse and recombine existing predefined models and components through a composition process. This process is a complex task that involves four main steps: identification, discovery, matching and composition. The focus of this work is to show how different ontologies combined with semantic querying enables more accurate identification and discovery of components in the process. We present a methodology for achieving this goal and clarification through a use case. Our preliminary results indicate that our approach is feasible, and semantic techniques contribute to both finer descriptions and search results.

  • Identifying deceptive reviews : Feature exploration, model transferability and classification attack
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of the 2019 European Intelligence and Security Informatics Conference, EISIC 2019. - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. - 9781728167350 ; , s. 109-116
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The temptation to influence and sway public opinion most certainly increases with the growth of open online forums where anyone anonymously can express their views and opinions. Since online review sites are a popular venue for opinion influencing attacks, there is a need to automatically identify deceptive posts. The main focus of this work is on automatic identification of deceptive reviews, both positive and negative biased. With this objective, we build a deceptive review SVM based classification model and explore the performance impact of using different feature types (TF-IDF, word2vec, PCFG). Moreover, we study the transferability of trained classification models applied to review data sets of other types of products, and, the classifier robustness, i.e., the accuracy impact, against attacks by stylometry obfuscation trough machine translation. Our findings show that i) we achieve an accuracy of over 90% using different feature types, ii) the trained classification models do not perform well when applied on other data sets containing reviews of different products, and iii) machine translation only slightly impacts the results and can not be used as a viable attack method.

  • Mama Edha at SemEval-2017 Task 8 : Stance Classification with CNN and Rules
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: ACL 2017 - 11th International Workshop on Semantic Evaluations, SemEval 2017, Proceedings of the Workshop. - : Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL). ; , s. 481-485
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • For the competition SemEval-2017 we investigated the possibility of performing stance classification (support, deny, query or comment) for messages in Twitter conversation threads related to rumours. Stance classification is interesting since it can provide a basis for rumour veracity assessment. Our ensemble classification approach of combining convolutional neural networks with both automatic rule mining and manually written rules achieved a final accuracy of 74.9% on the competition's test data set for Task 8A. To improve classification we also experimented with data relabeling and using the grammatical structure of the tweet contents for classification.

  • SDR : a semantic based Distributed Repository for Simulation Models and Resources
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: AMS 2007. - 0769528457 ; , s. 171-176
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Recent advances in Internet, Peer-to-Peer and Grid technologies have made collaboration and resource sharing across organizational boundaries more feasible. Today, it is essential for many organizations to be able to discover share and manage distributed resources in a transparent, meaningful and secure way. A fundamental problem is locating, matching and composing resources or services of interest. In this paper we describe our initial work designing and developing a semantic based distributed repository for secure sharing of simulation models, components and related resources such as computer resources. We propose an overlay architecture which combines advances in Semantic Web, Peer-to-Peer and Grid techniques. In our project at the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) we had a need for a repository of simulation related resources and having identified our requirements we found that there was no suitable of-the-shelf system available. We describe the design, tools and a prototype implementation of this system - the Semantic based Distributed Repository (SDR) and conclude with our experiences and some raised issues. We argue that although some of the used techniques still are a bit immature and need further improvements a system like the SDR has a lot of potential and can also be used in other domains than modeling and simulation.
