  • A CORRELATED STUDY OF OPTICAL AND X-RAY AFTERGLOWS OF GRBs
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Astrophysical Journal. - 0004-637X .- 1538-4357. ; 805:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We study an extensive sample of 87 gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) for which there are well-sampled and simultaneous optical and X-ray light curves. We extract the cleanest possible signal of the afterglow component. and compare the temporal behaviors of the X-ray light. curve, observed by Swift XRT, and optical data, observed by UVOT and ground-based telescopes for each individual burst. Overall we find that 62% of the GRBs. are consistent with the standard afterglow model. When more advanced modeling is invoked, up to 91% of the bursts in our sample may be consistent with the external-shock model. A large fraction of these bursts are consistent with occurring in a constant interstellar density medium (61%) while only 39% of them occur in a wind-like medium. Only nine cases have afterglow light curves that exactly match the standard fireball model prediction, having a single power-law decay in both energy bands that are observed during their entire duration. In particular, for the bursts with chromatic behavior, additional model assumptions must be made over limited segments of the light curves in order for these bursts to fully agree with the external-shock model. Interestingly, for 54% of the X-ray and 40% of the optical band observations, the end of the shallow decay (t(similar to-0.5)) period coincides with the jet-break (t(similar to-p)) time, causing an abrupt change in decay slope. The fraction of the burst that is consistent with the external-shock model is independent of the observational epochs in the rest frame of GRBs. Moreover, no cases can be explained by the cooling frequency crossing the X-ray or optical band.

  • Grid-Search Enhanced Tree-Based Machine Learning for Traffic IoT Data Anomaly Detection
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Computer Engineering and Networks. - Singapore : Springer Science+Business Media B.V.. - 9789811969003 ; , s. 3-9
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Anomaly detection is an important part of machine learning. Detection of outliers in the field of transportation can provide valid data for future traffic predictions or traffic flow analysis. This paper builds a model based on XGBoost to detect outliers in IoT data. The data is preprocessed first, followed by model building. Then we use the grid search to adjust the parameters and substitute the optimal parameters into the building model. To validate the model, we cross-checked it with two benchmark models, iFroset and Random Forest. The final experimental results show that the model constructed in this paper can accurately detect outliers in traffic flow and the accuracy is better than that of the baseline model. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

  • Asynchronous Photoexcited Electronic and Structural Relaxation in Lead-Free Perovskites
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Journal of the American Chemical Society. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 0002-7863 .- 1520-5126. ; 141:33, s. 13074-13080
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Vacancy-ordered lead-free perovskites with more-stable crystalline structures have been intensively explored as the alternatives for resolving the toxic and long-term stability issues of lead halide perovskites (LHPs). The dispersive energy bands produced by the closely packed halide octahedral sublattice in these perovskites are meanwhile anticipated to facility the mobility of charge carriers. However, these perovskites suffer from unexpectedly poor charge carrier transport. To tackle this issue, we have employed the ultrafast, elemental-specific X-ray transient absorption (XTA) spectroscopy to directly probe the photoexcited electronic and structural dynamics of a prototypical vacancy-ordered lead-free perovskite (Cs3Bi2Br9). We have discovered that the photogenerated holes quickly self-trapped at Br centers, simultaneously distorting the local lattice structure, likely forming small polarons in the configuration of Vk center (Br2 - dimer). More significantly, we have found a surprisingly long-lived, structural distorted state with a lifetime of ∼59 μs, which is ∼3 orders of magnitude slower than that of the charge carrier recombination. Such long-lived structural distortion may produce a transient "background" under continuous light illumination, influencing the charge carrier transport along the lattice framework. ©

  • Quantitative proteomic analysis of gastric cancer tissue reveals novel proteins in platelet-derived growth factor B signaling pathway
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Oncotarget. - : IMPACT JOURNALS LLC. - 1949-2553. ; 8:13, s. 22059-22075
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Gastric cancer is one of the most common cancers in Asian countries. Searching for reliable biomarkers involving the development of gastric cancer is important for clinical practice. Quantitative proteomics has become an important method contributed to the discovery of novel diagnostic or therapeutic targets for the management of cancer. Here, we identified differently expressed proteins in gastric cancer and normal gastric tissues by using the high resolution mass spectrometer. Among the total of 2280 identified proteins, 87 were differentially expressed between gastric cancer and normal gastric tissues. Notably, several significant proteins are in the PDGF-B signaling pathway, including peroxiredoxin5 (PRDX5), S100A6, calreticulin (CALR) and cathepsin D (CTSD), which were validated by western blot. Furthermore, upstream regulators including PDGF-B, PDGFR-beta, Akt, eIF4E and p70s6K were found significantly increased in the gastric cancer tissues. In addition, silencing of PRDX5 and PDGF-B suppressed the proliferation of gastric cancer cells in vitro. The administration of exogenous PDGF-BB recovered the reduced expression of PDGF-B signaling pathway in PDGF-B knockdown cells. Taken together, our findings suggested that PDGF-B signaling pathway plays an important role in the regulation of gastric cancer proliferation and the inhibition of this pathway may be a potential approach for treatment of gastric cancer.

  • Printable highly conductive conjugated polymer sensitized ZnO NCs as cathode interfacial layer for efficient polymer solar cells
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 1944-8244 .- 1944-8252. ; 6:11, s. 8237-8245
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report a facile way to produce printable highly conductive cathode interfacial layer (CIL) for efficient polymer solar cells (PSCs) by sensitizing ZnO nanocrystals (NCs) with a blue fluorescent conjugated polymer, poly(9, 9-bis-(6-diethoxylphosphorylhexyl) fluorene) (PFEP). Herein, PFEP plays dual distinctive roles in the composite. Firstly, PFEP chains can effectively block the aggregation of ZnO NCs, leading to uniform and smooth film during solution processing via assembly on ZnO NC surfaces through their pending phosphonate groups. Secondly, PFEP can greatly improve the conductivity of ZnO NCs by charge transfer doping, that is the charge transfer from the sensitizer driven by electron-chemical potential equilibrium, which could be even more pronounced under light illumination because of light excitation of PFEP sensitizer. The increased conductivity in ZnO-PFEP layer renders more efficient electron transport and extraction compared to pristine ZnO layer. This ZnO-PFEP CIL was successfully applied to PSCs based on three polymer donor systems with different band-gaps, and efficiency enhancements from 44 to 70% were observed compared to those PSCs with pristine ZnO CIL. The highest efficiency of 7.56% was achieved in P(IID-DTC):PC70BM-based PSCs by using ZnO-PFEP film as CIL. Moreover, the enhanced conductivity due to the charge-transfer doping effect allows thick ZnO-PFEP film to be used as CIL in high-performance PSCs. Both the high conductivity and good film-forming properties of ZnO-PFEP CIL are favorable for large-scale printable PSCs, which is also verified by high-efficiency PSCs with ZnO-PFEP CIL fabricated using doctor-blading, a large-scale processing technique. The work provides an efficient printable cathode interfacial material for efficient PSCs.

  • Marked gut microbiota dysbiosis and increased imidazole propionate are associated with a NASH Göttingen Minipig model
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: BMC Microbiology. - : BioMed Central (BMC). - 1471-2180. ; 22:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • BACKGROUND: Gut microbiota dysbiosis is associated with the development of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) through modulation of gut barrier, inflammation, lipid metabolism, bile acid signaling and short-chain fatty acid production. The aim of this study was to describe the impact of a choline-deficient amino acid defined high fat diet (CDAHFD) on the gut microbiota in a male Göttingen Minipig model and on selected pathways implicated in the development of NASH.RESULTS: Eight weeks of CDAHFD resulted in a significantly altered colon microbiota mainly driven by the bacterial families Lachnospiraceae and Enterobacteriaceae, being decreased and increased in relative abundance, respectively. Metabolomics analysis revealed that CDAHFD decreased colon content of short-chain fatty acid and increased colonic pH. In addition, serum levels of the microbially produced metabolite imidazole propionate were significantly elevated as a consequence of CDAHFD feeding. Hepatic gene expression analysis showed upregulation of mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) and Ras Homolog, MTORC1 binding in addition to downregulation of insulin receptor substrate 1, insulin receptor substrate 2 and the glucagon receptor in CDAHFD fed minipigs. Further, the consequences of CDAHFD feeding were associated with increased levels of circulating cholesterol, bile acids, and glucagon but not total amino acids.CONCLUSIONS: Our results indicate imidazole propionate as a new potentially relevant factor in relation to NASH and discuss the possible implication of gut microbiota dysbiosis in the development of NASH. In addition, the study emphasizes the need for considering the gut microbiota and its products when developing translational animal models for NASH.
