  • Poisson Multi-Bernoulli Mapping Using Gibbs Sampling
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing. - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). - 1941-0476 .- 1053-587X. ; 65:11, s. 2814-2827
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper addresses the mapping problem. Using a conjugate prior form, we derive the exact theoretical batch multiobject posterior density of the map given a set of measurements. The landmarks in the map are modeled as extended objects, and the measurements are described as a Poisson process, conditioned on the map. We use a Poisson process prior on the map and prove that the posterior distribution is a hybrid Poisson, multi-Bernoulli mixture distribution. We devise a Gibbs sampling algorithm to sample from the batch multiobject posterior. The proposed method can handle uncertainties in the data associations and the cardinality of the set of landmarks, and is parallelizable, making it suitable for large-scale problems. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated on synthetic data and is shown to outperform a state-of-the-art method.

  • Gaussian implementation of the multi-Bernoulli mixture filter
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: FUSION 2019 - 22nd International Conference on Information Fusion.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper presents the Gaussian implementation of the multi-Bernoulli mixture (MBM) filter. The MBM filter provides the filtering (multi-target) density for the standard dynamic and radar measurement models when the birth model is multi-Bernoulli or multi-Bernoulli mixture. Under linear/Gaussian models, the single target densities of the MBM mixture admit Gaussian closed-form expressions. Murty's algorithm is used to select the global hypotheses with highest weights. The MBM filter is compared with other algorithms in the literature via numerical simulations.

  • Clinical characteristics and validation of diagnosis in individuals with Hirschsprung disease and inflammatory bowel disease
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Journal of Pediatric Surgery. - : Saunders Elsevier. - 0022-3468 .- 1531-5037. ; 56:10, s. 1799-1802
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: Hirschsprung disease has previously been reported to be associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The aim was to clinically confirm the diagnosis and to describe characteristics among individuals with both conditions in a national populationbased cohort.METHODS: Nationwide, population-based cohort study, including all individuals with a Hirschsprung disease diagnosis and an IBD diagnosis registered between 1964 and 2016, in which clinical data were collected from the medical records of 18 validated cases with both Hirschsprung disease and IBD. The medical record of each individual in the study cohort was reviewed for age at IBD diagnosis, type of aganglionosis, type of surgical treatment, subtype of IBD, and treatment for IBD.RESULTS: Median age at follow up was 34 years (range 19-66), and 3 of 18 indivduals (17%) were females. Median age at first diagnosis of IBD was 21 years (range 10-46). Six patients had ulcerative colitis, ten had Crohn's disease and two had unclassified IBD. Most of the patients had pharmacological treatment for IBD and 5 (28%) individuals had surgical treatment.CONCLUSION: Hirschsprung disease and IBD was clinically confirmed in 18 cases. Age at IBD onset and subtype of IBD is similar to IBD patients without Hirschsprung disease. Five individuals had undergone surgical treatment for IBD.

  • Poisson Multi-Bernoulli Mixture Trackers: Continuity Through Random Finite Sets of Trajectories
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: 2018 21st International Conference on Information Fusion, FUSION 2018. ; , s. 973-981
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Poisson multi-Bernoulli mixture (PMBM) is an unlabelled multi-target distribution for which the prediction and update are closed. It has a Poisson birth process, and new Bernoulli components are generated on each new measurement as a part of the Bayesian measurement update. The PMBM filter is similar to the multiple hypothesis tracker (MHT), but seemingly does not provide explicit continuity between time steps. This paper considers a recently developed formulation of the multi-target tracking problem as a random finite set (RFS) of trajectories, and derives two trajectory RFS filters, called PMBM trackers. The PMBM trackers efficiently estimate the set of trajectories, and share hypothesis structure with the PMBM filter. By showing that the prediction and update in the PMBM filter can be viewed as an efficient method for calculating the time marginals of the RFS of trajectories, continuity in the same sense as MHT is established for the PMBM filter.

  • Variability in the CIITA gene interacts with HLA in multiple sclerosis.
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Genes and immunity. - Stockholm : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1476-5470 .- 1466-4879. ; 15, s. 162-167
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The human leukocyte antigen (HLA) is the main genetic determinant of multiple sclerosis (MS) risk. Within the HLA, the class II HLA-DRB1*15:01 allele exerts a disease-promoting effect, whereas the class I HLA-A*02 allele is protective. The CIITA gene is crucial for expression of class II HLA molecules and has previously been found to associate with several autoimmune diseases, including MS and type 1 diabetes. We here performed association analyses with CIITA in 2000 MS cases and up to 6900 controls as well as interaction analysis with HLA. We find that the previously investigated single-nucleotide polymorphism rs4774 is associated with MS risk in cases carrying the HLA-DRB1*15 allele (P=0.01, odds ratio (OR): 1.21, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.04-1.40) or the HLA-A*02 allele (P=0.01, OR: 1.33, 95% CI: 1.07-1.64) and that these associations are independent of the adjacent confirmed MS susceptibility gene CLEC16A. We also confirm interaction between rs4774 and HLA-DRB1*15:01 such that individuals carrying the risk allele for rs4774 and HLA-DRB1*15:01 have a higher than expected risk for MS. In conclusion, our findings support previous data that variability in the CIITA gene affects MS risk, but also that the effect is modulated by MS-associated HLA haplotypes. These findings further underscore the biological importance of HLA for MS risk.Genes and Immunity advance online publication, 16 January 2014; doi:10.1038/gene.2013.71.

  • Workplace health promotion and working conditions as determinants of employee health
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Workplace Health Management. - 1753-8351 .- 1753-836X. ; 7:2, s. 89-104
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to investigate general psychosocial work conditions and specific workplace health promotion (WHP) measures in relation to employee health and sickness absence in Swedish municipal social care organizations. Design/methodology/approach - In a random sample of 60 out of the 290 municipalities in Sweden, 15,871 municipal social care employees working with elderly and disabled clients were sent a questionnaire concerning psychosocial work environment, WHP, and self-rated health. The responses (response rate 58.4 per cent) were complemented by register data on sickness absence (>14 days). All data were aggregated to employer level. Findings - A structural equation modelling analysis using employer-level data demonstrated that employers with more favourable employee ratings of the psychosocial work conditions, as well as of specific health-promoting measures, had better self-rated health and lower sickness absence level among employees. Practical implications - The results from this representative nationwide sample of employers within one sector indicate that employers can promote employee health both by offering various health-specific programmes and activities, such as work environment education, fitness activities, and lifestyle guidance, as well as by forming a high-quality work environment in general including developmental and supportive leadership styles, prevention of role conflicts, and a supportive and comfortable social climate. Originality/value - This study with a representative nationwide sample demonstrates: results in line with earlier studies and explanations to the challenges in comparing effects from specific and general WHP interventions on health.
