The end date of the issues is revised to c.200, and and the late and by far the largest output is connected to contemporary political events, the attack of the Kretan 'pirates' and Philip V of Macedonia on Kos, in a discussion.

- This paper treats some of the international contacts of Kos mainly during the Hellenistic period. Six analytical groups based on inscriptions and coins form three separate webs that are investigated and compared. The first web consists of the Koan network of proxenoi as seen in the inscriptions, those for Koans in other places and Koan proxenoi for citizens of other states. The second type of web is based on the bronze coins, the foreign ones found on Kos and the Koan pieces found abroad. The third is composed of the states responding positively to the campaign of the Koanstate to obtain asylia for the Asklepieion and Panhellenic status for the Asklepios games, and the poleis appearing in the victors’ lists. Judging by this material, Kos was, in all three webs, a significant actor in the Greek world, not only in the immediate neighbourhood, but also in more distant areas.

- This paper describes democracy at a local level in the city-state of Kos c.200 BC. In the Greek city-states, civil servants included both civic and cultofficials. I investigate a group of temple officials, priests and hieropoioi, inthe deme of Halasarna, and present my results concerning their socio-economic standing in society, i.e. that a large part of these officials belong towhat we in modern terms would call the lower middle class. I also relatethe results to the present dominating view on the political development inthe city-states during the Hellenistic period (c. 320–30 BC), viz. that democracy in reality ceased to exist as a small wealthy elite took power. Myresults show that on Kos, democracy was practised on a local level in theearly second century BC.In order to clarify what ancient Greek democracy entails, I present somesimilarities and differences between ancient democracy and modern parliamentary democracy. I also list the most significant traits of ancient democracy, for instance that it is direct (all full citizens can form part of the decision-making group), exclusive (only the grown male part of the populationwith both parents citizens were full citizens) and only exceptionally can acitizen hold a post for more than one or two years running.

- This paper presents and discusses the dates of two Koan silver issues, drachms with young Herakles/crab and club in incuse, and hemidrachms with Apollo/lyre. A date in the 190s is suggested on several grounds. Weights and diameters correspond with those of HI XII and XIII of the third century, suggesting that they followed shortly thereafter. The other Koan silver issues of the second century were minted on a lower weight-standard. The hoard IGCH 1320 contains examples of both issues, and the other Koan issues in it date to the middle and second half of the third century or the 190s/c.190. Homonyms occur in issues dating to the end of third/early second century. A connection with Kalymnos seems likely for the hemidrachms, this may suggest a date early in the 190s during the war with Philip V.
