- I maj 2013 ägde omfattande oroligheter rum i Stockholmsförorten Husby. Bilar brann och poliser möttes med kastade stenar, händelser som gav eko i såväl svenska som internationella medier. Redan kort tid efter sammanstötningarna intervjuade forskare från olika akademiska discipliner ett trettiotal boende i Husby. I denna bok kan kravallerna därför sättas in i ett större såväl teoretiskt som internationellt sammanhang. Utifrån teman som berör bland annat plats och gemenskap, polisens roll och den samlade mediabilden diskuteras Husbyoroligheternas specifika karaktär och hur sociala konflikter som dessa ska kunna förstås.

- This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book analyzes how, in different settings and ways, Nordic criminal justice systems were folded into a global world and how this embeddedness was related to stakeholders developing and using positive normative valuations of these systems. It sets the scene for the edited volume by analyzing an important site of scholarly and practical debate on Nordic criminal justice. The book documents the twists and turns of the historical evolution of the Ringe prison project, which came to include self-catering, prison officers without professional training, mixed sexes on prison wings and other practices considered radical at the time. It provides an analysis of Nordic legal practices in relation to the globalization of international crime control. The book deals with the official Swedish stance on drugs in international context.

- This book critically investigates Nordic criminal justice as a global role model.Not taking this role for granted, the chapters of the book analyze how Nordic approaches to criminal justice were folded into global contexts, and how patterns of promotion were built around perceptions that these approaches also had a particular value for other criminal justice systems. Specific actors, both internal and external to the region itself, have branded Nordic criminal justice as a form of ‘penal exceptionalism’ associated with human rights, universalistic welfare, and social cohesion. The book shows how building and using the brand of Nordic criminal justice allowed stakeholders to champion specific forms of crime control across a variety of criminal justice areas in both domestic and international settings.The book will be of interest to scholars and students of criminal justice, international law and justice, Nordic and Scandinavian studies, and more widely to the social sciences and humanities.

Effect of lithiation on the elastic moduli of carbon fibres

- Carbon fibre electrodes can enable a solid-state battery to carry mechanical load as normal construction materials. The multifunctionality is promising for most lightweight applications. Like all electrode materials, both volume and elastic moduli of the carbon fibre electrodes change during battery cycling. Such changes jeopardize the mechanical integrity of the battery. Due to the challenging corrosion problem of the lithiated component in air, the effect of lithiation on the carbon fibre's elastic moduli has yet to be explored. Also, robust data on the expansion of carbon fibres from lithiation are lacking. In the present work, we demonstrate a method and perform tests of corrosion protected carbon fibres in scanning electron microscope. The volume, and longitudinal and transverse moduli of a carbon fibre at three states of lithiation are determined and compared. The transverse modulus of the lithiated fibre is found to be more than double that of the pristine and delithiated fibres.

- Det här är en vänbok till, av och om Janne Flyghed, professori kriminologi vid Stockholms universitet. Vi har samlat ett urval av hans texter, tematiserade efter forskningsområde och med introduktioner av bokens redaktörer. Att det är en vänbok i bokstavlig mening understryks av bokens inledande och avlutande kapitel, skrivna av Jannes barn respektive vännen och författaren Björn Larsson. I ett försök att sammanfatta Jannes vetenskapliga bidrag har boken fått namnet I rättsstatens sprickor. Under sin karriär har han forskat om spioneri, terrorism och organiserad brottslighet, hela tiden synat rättsstaten i sömmarna och blottlagt dess sprickor; sprickor som uppstod då politisk effektivitet ställdes mot medborgarnas integritet.
