  • Massive Multiple Input Massive Multiple Output for 5G Wireless Backhauling
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: IEEE Globecom Workshops. - 2166-0069. - 9781538639207 ; 2018-January, s. 1-6
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper, we propose a new technique for the future fifth generation (5G) cellular network wireless backhauling. We show that hundreds of data streams can be spatially multiplexed through a short range and line of sight "massive multiple input massive multiple output" (MMIMMO) propagation channel thanks to a new low complexity spatial multiplexing scheme, called "block discrete Fourier transform based spatial multiplexing with maximum ratio transmission" (B-DFT-SM-MRT). Its performance in real and existing environments is assessed using ray-tracing tools and advanced antenna models. 1.6 kbits/s/Hz of spectral efficiency is attained, corresponding to 80% of Singular Value Decomposition performance, with a transmitter and a receiver that are 200 and 10,000 times less complex, respectively.

  • Direct and cascading impacts of tropical land-use change on multi-trophic biodiversity
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Nature Ecology and Evolution. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 2397-334X. ; 1:10, s. 1511-1519
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The conversion of tropical rainforest to agricultural systems such as oil palm alters biodiversity across a large range of interacting taxa and trophic levels. Yet, it remains unclear how direct and cascading effects of land-use change simultaneously drive ecological shifts. Combining data from a multi-taxon research initiative in Sumatra, Indonesia, we show that direct and cascading land-use effects alter biomass and species richness of taxa across trophic levels ranging from microorganisms to birds. Tropical land use resulted in increases in biomass and species richness via bottom-up cascading effects, but reductions via direct effects. When considering direct and cascading effects together, land use was found to reduce biomass and species richness, with increasing magnitude at higher trophic levels. Our analyses disentangle the multifaceted effects of land-use change on tropical ecosystems, revealing that biotic interactions on broad taxonomic scales influence the ecological outcome of anthropogenic perturbations to natural ecosystems.

  • Dual-link capacity analysis of measured time-variant indoor radio channels
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Electronics Letters. - : Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). - 1350-911X .- 0013-5194. ; 46:8, s. 72-592
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • There has been extensive research about single link multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels, both simulated and measured, but only a few studies have targeted multilink analysis with measured channel data. Hence, in this presented report, the authors analyse the influence of spatial separation of user terminals and the human shadowing effect on the MIMO capacity and on the signal-to-interference ratio in indoor radio channels.
