  • FSF : A real-time scheduling architecture framework
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: 12th IEEE Real-Time and Embedded Technology and Applications Symposium (RTAS'06). - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). - 9780769525167 - 0769525164 ; , s. 113-124
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Scheduling theory generally assumes that real-time systems are mostly composed of activities with hard real-time requirements. Many systems are built today by composing different applications or components in the same system, leading to a mixture of many different kinds of requirements with small parts of the system having hard real-time requirements and other larger parts with requirements for more flexible scheduling and for quality of service. Hard real-time scheduling techniques are extremely pessimistic for the latter part of the application, and consequently it is necessary to use techniques that let the system resources be fully utilized to achieve the highest possible quality. This paper presents a framework for a scheduling architecture that provides the ability to compose several applications or components into the system, and to flexibly schedule the available resources while guaranteeing hard real-time requirements. The framework (called FSF) is independent of the underlying implementation, and can run on different underlying scheduling strategies. It is based on establishing service contracts that represent the complex and flexible requirements of the applications, and which are managed by the underlying system to provide the required level of service.

  • Feeding of Calanus finmarchicus nauplii in the Irminger Sea
  • 2003
  • Ingår i: Marine Ecology-Progress Series. - 0171-8630. ; 262, s. 193-200
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Recent studies have shown that the passage from nauplius to copepodite is a key event in the population dynamics of Calan us finmarchicus. As a first step towards understanding if and how trophic interactions influence this event, we investigated the feeding of C. finmarchicus nauplii IV-VI in the Irminger Sea during spring and summer in a series of incubation experiments. Generally, feeding efficiencies were highest on large cells, whereas small flagellates were ingested at very low rates. Colonies of Phaeocystis sp. were not ingested. Among the larger cells, the diatoms Chaetoceros pelagicus and Tropodineis sp. and the ciliate Strombidium sp. were the main food sources. We observed a negative relationship between the percentage of diatoms in the food environment and the filtration rate on Strombidium sp. We therefore suggest that the combination of low feeding efficiency on small cells and the generally low concentrations of ciliates in oceanic waters explains why C, finmarchicus relies on phytoplankton blooms for recruitment from nauplius to the first copepodite stage.

  • Intracellular analysis of a lymphoblastoid cell line using H-NMR
  • 1994
  • Ingår i: Animal Cell Technology: Basic & Applied Aspects. - Dordrecht : Springer Verlag (Kluwer). - 9789401043663 - 9789401108485 ; , s. 351-358
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A complete analysis of growth and protein production characteristics of a commercially relevant animal cell line has been undertaken. The model cell line was a human lymphoblastoid which produces an IgG antibody against anti-D in blood. The batch growth characteristics of this cell line under different conditions was monitored and analysis of major nutrients and products as well as amino acids in the medium was undertaken. The internal (i.e. intracellular) concentrations of a variety of species in the cell were investigated using H-NMR of cellular extracts. This analysis enabled the quantitative determination of many amino acids, biosynthetic intermediates, secreted products and energetically important intermediates.

  • 1999
  • Ingår i: NUCLEAR FUSION. - 0029-5515. ; 39:3, s. 321-336
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Reactor relevant ICRH scenarios have been assessed during DT experiments on the JET tokamak using H mode divertor discharges with ITER-like shapes and safety factors. Deuterium minority heating in tritium plasmas was demonstrated for the first time. For 9
