  • Consensus statements and recommendations from the ESO-Karolinska Stroke Update Conference, Stockholm 11-13 November 2018.
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: European Stroke Journal. - : SAGE Publications. - 2396-9873 .- 2396-9881. ; 4:4, s. 307-317
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The purpose of the European Stroke Organisation-Karolinska Stroke Update Conference is to provide updates on recent stroke therapy research and to give an opportunity for the participants to discuss how these results may be implemented into clinical routine. The meeting started 22 years ago as Karolinska Stroke Update, but since 2014 it is a joint conference with European Stroke Organisation. Importantly, it provides a platform for discussion on the European Stroke Organisation guidelines process and on recommendations to the European Stroke Organisation guidelines committee on specific topics. By this, it adds a direct influence from stroke professionals otherwise not involved in committees and work groups on the guideline procedure. The discussions at the conference may also inspire new guidelines when motivated. The topics raised at the meeting are selected by the scientific programme committee mainly based on recent important scientific publications. This year's European Stroke Organisation-Karolinska Stroke Update Meeting was held in Stockholm on 11-13 November 2018. There were 11 scientific sessions discussed in the meeting including two short sessions. Each session except the short sessions produced a consensus statement (Full version with background, issues, conclusions and references are published as web-material and at www.eso-karolinska.org and http://eso-stroke.org) and recommendations which were prepared by a writing committee consisting of session chair(s), scientific secretary and speakers. These statements were presented to the 250 participants of the meeting. In the open meeting, general participants commented on the consensus statement and recommendations and the final document were adjusted based on the discussion from the general participants Recommendations (grade of evidence) were graded according to the 1998 Karolinska Stroke Update meeting with regard to the strength of evidence. Grade A Evidence: Strong support from randomised controlled trials and statistical reviews (at least one randomised controlled trial plus one statistical review). Grade B Evidence: Support from randomised controlled trials and statistical reviews (one randomised controlled trial or one statistical review). Grade C Evidence: No reasonable support from randomised controlled trials, recommendations based on small randomised and/or non-randomised controlled trials evidence.

  • Surface-orientation- and ligand-dependent quenching of the spin magnetic moment of Co porphyrins adsorbed on Cu substrates
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Physical Chemistry, Chemical Physics - PCCP. - : Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). - 1463-9076 .- 1463-9084. ; 22:22, s. 12688-12696
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Porphyrin molecules are particularly interesting candidates for spintronic applications due to their bonding flexibility, which allows to modify their properties substantially by the addition or transformation of ligands. Here, we investigate the electronic and magnetic properties of cobalt octaethylporphyrin (CoOEP), deposited on copper substrates with two distinct crystallographic surface orientations, Cu(100) and Cu(111), with X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD). A significant magnetic moment is present in the Co ions of the molecules deposited on Cu(100), but it is completely quenched on Cu(111). Heating the molecules on both substrates to 500 K induces a ring-closure reaction with cobalt tetrabenzoporphyrin (CoTBP) as reaction product. In these molecules, the magnetic moment is quenched on both surfaces. Our XMCD and XAS measurements suggest that the filling of the dz(2)orbital leads to a non-integer valence state and causes the quench of the spin moments on all samples except CoOEP/Cu(100), where the molecular conformation induces variations to the ligand field that lift the quench. We further employ density functional theory calculations, supplemented with on-site Coulomb correlations (DFT+U), to study the adsorption of these spin-bearing molecules on the Cu substrates. Our calculations show that charge transfer from the Cu substrates as well as charge redistribution within the Co 3d orbitals lead to the filling of the Co minority spin dz(2)orbital, causing a 'turning off' of the exchange splitting and quenching of the spin moment at the Co magnetic centers. Our investigations suggest that, by this mechanism, molecule-substrate interactions can be used to control the quenching of the magnetic moments of the adsorbed molecules.

  • The contribution of CAP greening measures to conservation biological control at two spatial scales
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Agriculture, Ecosystems and Environment. - : Elsevier BV. - 0167-8809. ; 255, s. 84-94
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • To promote a more sustainable agricultural production, the European Commission implemented direct payments that require farmers to implement greening measures aimed at reducing negative effects of agriculture on the environment and biodiversity. These greening measures (including fallows and permanent grasslands) have been criticised for their potential inability to conserve biodiversity and promote associated ecosystem services. In this study, we investigate if the presence of old or recently established fallows and permanent grassland in the landscape are beneficial for the emergence, activity density and spillover of ground-running natural enemies and as a result aphid biological control in cereal fields. Lycosidae and Theridiidae were more numerous in fallows (emergence & activity density) compared to crop fields, while Staphylinidae and Linyphiidae showed opposite patterns. Spillover of Lycosidae was significantly higher from fallows into cereal fields, than between cereal fields. As a result of the opposite patterns in activity density in fallows between different groups of predators, a spillover from fallows did not result in a significantly higher aphid control in crop fields adjacent to them. A high proportion of permanent grassland in the landscape resulted in lower emergence of Linyphiidae and Carabidae. Our results support the assumption that a higher emergence and activity density of ground-running predators generally results in higher spillover to adjacent fields. However, patterns of emergence and activity density differed between individual natural enemy groups. Fallows, independent of age, can therefore act as source or sink depending on the focal predator group and more permanent grassland in the landscape can result in lower local emergence. Fallows at the local scale and permanent grassland at larger spatial scales therefore did not generally promote aphid biological control services provided by ground-running natural enemies.

  • Some remarks on biequidimensionality of topological spaces and Noetherian schemes
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Journal of Commutative Algebra. - : Rocky Mountain Mathematics Consortium. - 1939-0807 .- 1939-2346. ; 9:1, s. 49-63
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • There are many examples of the fact that dimension and codimension behave somewhat counterintu- itively. In [2], it is stated that a topological space is equidimensional, equicodimensional and catenary if and only if every maximal chain of irreducible closed subsets has the same length. We construct examples that show that this is not even true for the spectrum of a Noetherian ring. This gives rise to two notions of biequidimensionality, and we show how these relate to the dimension formula and the existence of a codimension function.

  • The Cohen–Macaulay space of twisted cubics
  • Annan publikation (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • In this work, we describe the Cohen-Macaulay space CM of twisted cubics parameterizing curves  together with a finite map  that is generically a closed immersion and such that  has Hilbert polynomial p(t)=3t+1 with respect to . We show that CM is irreducible, smooth and birational to one component of the Hilbert scheme of twisted cubics.

  • The space of Cohen-Macaulay curves
  • 2012
  • Licentiatavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • In this thesis we discuss a moduli space of projective curves with a map to a given projective space. The functor CM parametrizes curves, that is, Cohen-Macaulay schemes of pure dimension 1, together with a finite map to the projective space that is an isomorphism onto its image away from a finite set of closed points. We proof that CM is an algebraic space by contructing a scheme W and a representable, surjective and smooth map from W to CM.

  • The space of Cohen–Macaulay curves
  • Annan publikation (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • One can consider the Hilbert scheme as a natural compactification of the space of smooth projective curves with fixed Hilbert polynomial. Here we consider a different modular compactification, namely the functor CM parameterizing curves together with a finite map to  that is generically a closed immersion. We prove that CM is an algebraic space by contructing a scheme W and a representable, surjective and smooth map W -> CM. Moreover, we show that CM satisfies the valuative criterion for properness.

  • The space of Cohen–Macaulay curves and related topics
  • 2014
  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The space of Cohen–Macaulay curves is a compactification of the space of curves that are embedded in a given projective space Pn. The idea is similar to that of the Hilbert scheme but instead of adding degenerated curves, one considers only curves without embedded or isolated points. However, the curves need not be embedded into the projective space. Instead, they come with a finite morphism to Pn that is generically a closed immersion. More precisely, the space CM of Cohen–Macaulay curves parameterizes flat families of pairs  where  is a curve without embedded or isolated points and  is a finite morphism that is an isomorphism onto its image away from finitely many closed points and such that  has Hilbert polynomial p(t) with respect to the map .In Paper A we show that the moduli functor CM is represented by a proper algebraic space. This is done by constructing a smooth, surjective cover  and by verifying the valuative criterion for properness.Paper B studies the moduli space CM in the particular case n = 3 and p(t) = 3t + 1, that is, the Cohen–Macaulay space of twisted cubics. We de- scribe the points of CM and show that they are in bijection with the points on the 12-dimensional component H0 of the Hilbert scheme of twisted cu- bics. Knowing the points of CM, we can then show that the moduli space is irreducible, smooth and has dimension 12.Paper C concerns the notion of biequidimensionality of topological spaces and Noetherian schemes. In EGA it is claimed that a topological space X is equidimensional, equicodimensional and catenary if and only if all maximal chains of irreducible closed subsets in X have the same length. We construct examples of topological spaces and Noetherian schemes showing that the sec- ond property is strictly stronger. This gives rise to two different notions of biequidimensionality, and we show how they relate to the dimension formula and the existence of a codimension function.

    • We consider the Cohen-Macaulay compactification of the space of twisted cubics in Pn. This compactification is the fine moduli scheme representing the functor of CM-curves with Hilbert polynomial 3t + 1. We show that the moduli scheme of CM-curves in P3 is isomorphic to the twisted cubic component of the Hilbert scheme. We also describe the compactification for twisted cubics in Pn
