  • Idrottsundervisning och maskulinitetens hegemoni : Genus och inflytande i gymnasieskolans ämne ”Idrott och hälsa”
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Scandinavian Sport Studies Forum. - Malmö, Sweden : Department of Sport Sciences, Malmö University, Department of Sport Sciences. - 2000-088X. ; 8, s. 197-219
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Swedish upper secondary school and its physical education (PE) should, according to the Lgy11 (the 2011 curriculum of upper secondary school in Sweden), raise aware- ness about and challenge stereotypes of masculinity and femininity. Previous research, however, has concluded that there is an upholding of traditional, hegemonic masculinity ideals through PE. The purpose of this article is to highlight how gender and power influence the outcome of a just education. Theoretical inspiration is taken from Irish Marion Young’s and Raewyn Connell’s work on gender and hegemonic masculinity, and the method involves interviews with PE teachers and observations of PE classes. Dance, ball games, competition, socializing violence, performance of heterosexual norms are identified as key points, which are discussed in terms of norms and power linked to men and masculinity ideals. The results show that the making of masculinity is constantly oc- curring in PE, both in active elements but also during “inactive” breaks. Although strong ideals linked to men and masculinity were identified, there were usually also alternative representations. In other words, the educational gender practices were not identified as unambiguous, but rather as ambiguous and contradictory. However, most respondents showed decided views on how boys and girls naturally “are” in certain ways, which con- ditions a counter-stereotypical approach to education.

  • Optical properties, durability, and system aspects of a new aluminium-polymer-laminated steel reflector for solar concentrators
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells. - : Elsevier BV. - 0927-0248 .- 1879-3398. ; 82:3, s. 387-412
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A newly developed aluminium-polymer-laminated steel reflector for use in solar concentrators was evaluated with respect to its optical properties, durability, and reflector performance in solar thermal and photovoltaic systems. The optical properties of the reflector material were investigated using spectrophotometer and scatterometry. The durability of the reflector was tested in a climatic test chamber as well as outdoors in Alvkarleby (60.5degreesN, 17.4degreesE), Sweden. Before ageing, the solar weighted total and specular reflectance values were 82% and 77%, respectively, and the reflector scattered light isotropically. After I year's outdoor exposure, the total and specular solar reflectance had decreased by less than 11%. However, after 2000 h in damp heat and 1000 W/m(2) simulated solar radiation, the optical properties had changed significantly: The light scattering was anisotropic and the total and specular solar reflectance values had decreased to 75% and 42%, respectively. The decrease was found to be due to degradation of the protective polyethylene terephthalate (PET) layer, caused by UV radiation and high temperature. The conclusions are that the degradation is climate dependent and that PET is not suitable as a protective coating under extreme conditions, such as those in the climatic test chamber. However, the results from outdoor testing indicate that the material withstands exposure in a normal Swedish climate.

  • Retention of Pb isotopes in glass surfaces for retrospective assessment of radon exposure
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B. - : Elsevier. - 0168-583X .- 1872-9584. ; 249:1-2, s. 544-547
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In recent years there has been increasing interest in radio-epidemiological techniques to retrospectively measure the radon dose exposure by determining the activity of 210Pb, the longest-lived 222Rn progeny, in glass surface layers. In this study the diffusion of 39 keV 209Pb+ ions implanted into glass using the IGISOL facility has been studied under conditions that mimic the recoil implantation of 210Pb from 222Rn. The resulting depth distributions of 209Pb were then measured after heat treatment in vacuum at different temperatures by a sputter erosion technique. The diffusion coefficient could be described by an Arrhenius equation D = D0exp(−H/kT) where and H = 2.81 ± 0.11 eV. No statistically significant loss of 209Pb from the sample was observed for annealing between 470 and 600 °C.

  • Finite Size scaling and the nuclear liquid-gas phase transition
  • 2003
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Recent analyses of multifragmentation data in terms of Fisher's model have led to the estimate of the coexistence curve of finite nuclear matter as well as of the location of the critical point. In order to extrapolate those results to infinite nuclear matter, finite size effects have to be taken into account. Guided by the finite size behavior of the three-dimensional Ising model, we propose a modified Fisher Droplet model expression that incorporates surface and correlation length effects.

  • Implications of two-body fragment decay for the interpretation of emission chronology from velocity-gated correlation functions
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. Nuclear Physics. - : American Physical Society. - 0556-2813 .- 1089-490X. ; 73:4
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • From velocity-gated small-angle correlation functions the emission chronology can be deduced for non-identical particles, if the emission is independent. This is not the case for non-identical particles that originate from two-body decay of fragments. Experimental results may contain contributions from both independent emission and two-body decay, so care is needed in interpreting the velocity-gated correlation functions. It is shown that in some special cases, it is still possible to deduce the emission chronology, even if there is a contribution from two-body decay.

  • Relationship between serum enzyme activity in acute myocardial infarction and morbidity during a 2-year follow-up
  • 1986
  • Ingår i: Cardiology. - : S. Karger AG. - 0008-6312 .- 1421-9751. ; 73:2, s. 85-93
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In 585 patients with a first myocardial infarction the enzymatically estimated infarct size was related to the clinical course during a 2-year follow-up. Infarct size was estimated from maximum heat-stable lactate dehydrogenase activity. A higher maximum serum activity was associated with a higher mortality rate, more treatment with diuretics, digitalis and antiarrhythmics and a lower frequency of return to work. Patients with smaller infarcts according to maximum serum activity, however, had a higher incidence of angina pectoris and a higher reinfarction rate. We conclude that although there is a strong association between serum enzyme activity and mortality during a 2-year follow-up, the relation with morbidity appears to be more complex.
