    • he pop culture I consumed as an adolescent put a stamp on the art I do today. I loved the The O.C. and Gossip Girl. Teen series where all the characters are beautiful, rich and all messed up. You can relish in the drama and feel somewhat better about your own life. Similarly I take an early interest in Celebrities lives. First by getting exposed to gossip through my great aunt se och hör collection and then by buying my own gossip magazines in my teens.I am alone a lot in my adolescence, which I partly choose to stay at home and keep an eye on my sick mother, but also because I am bullied. It's in this solitude that I begin to draw and create things.Images rich in color, brands or beauty really draw me in.  Its a place I take alot of inspiration from. I keep them with me and use them in my art whether for ideas for painting or to just use them while making collages.  I love the materiality of creating collage. In my opinion, there are no rules and there is rather an attentive approach to how the pictures will look. It's not something that will work in all contexts. I tried using the collage techniques in painting, but It's not something which is working for me. Collage in 2d is not hitting its mark but rather when I work with the material in a sculpural way thats when things start to make sense. I think about how Hannah Höch revolutionised the photo montage among other Dadaists in the early 20th century. The way I see it there are no rules but rather an attentive response to images. When it comes to painting it's finally lamented itself when I work with myself as the subject. Using my memories to create the stories that are being told on the canvas.

  • Screening history of women in Malmö with invasive cervical cancer.
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: European Journal of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology. - : Elsevier BV. - 0301-2115. ; 137:1, s. 77-83
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objectives Cervical cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer among women. Cytological screening and follow-up are potentially effective procedures for preventing the development of – and mortality from – cervical cancer. The purpose of this study was to investigate the screening history of women diagnosed with cervical cancer with the aim of improving the screening programme. Study design All of the 187 women diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer in Malmö between 1991 and 2000 were identified, and those below 61 years of age (n = 130) were included in the analysis. The cytological and histological screening history of these women prior to their diagnosis was scrutinized. We analyzed shortcomings related to the cervical screening with special attention to participation defined as having had a cervical smear within 1 year of the scheduled time. Results Of the non-participants who developed cervical cancer (n = 70), roughly one-third “never participated,” half were “sub-optimal participants,” and one-sixth were “decliners,” i.e., women who declined the recommended measures. Among participants (n = 60), 80% were either “unexplained” (n = 35) or “misread as normal” (n = 13). The 9.5% subgroup of non-participants was at an 11-fold increased risk of being diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer. Conclusion The greatest reduction in cervical cancer would be realized if non-participants could be brought into the screening program.

  • PAT4 is abundantly expressed in excitatory and inhibitory neurons as well as epithelial cells
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Brain Research. - : Elsevier BV. - 0006-8993 .- 1872-6240. ; 1557, s. 12-25
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • PAT4, the fourth member of the SLC36/proton dependent amino acid transporter (PAT) family, is a high-affinity, low capacity electroneutral transporter of neutral amino acids like proline and tryptophan. It has also been associated with the function of mTORC1, a complex in the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway. We performed in situ hybridization and immunohistological analysis to determine the expression profile of PAT4, as well as an RT-PCR study on tissue from mice exposed to leucine. We performed a phylogenetic analysis to determine the evolutionary origin of PAT4. The in situ hybridization and the immunohistochemistry on mouse brain sections and hypothalamic cells showed abundant PAT4 expression in the mouse brain intracellularly in both inhibitory and excitatory neurons, partially co-localizing with lysosomal markers and epithelial cells lining the ventricles. Its location in epithelial cells around the ventricles indicates a transport of substrates across the blood brain barrier. Phylogenetic analysis showed that PAT4 belongs to an evolutionary old family most likely predating animals, and PAT4 is the oldest member of that family.
