  • Fabrication and characterization of silicon nanowires using STL for biosensing applications
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: INT CONF ULTI INTEGR. - 2330-5738. ; , s. 109-112
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present a sidewall transfer lithography (STL) process to fabricate silicon nanowires using the CMOS compatible materials SiO2, SiN and alpha-Si. The STL process is implemented using a single cluster tool for reactive ion etching (RIE) and plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) with a maximum process temperature of 400 degrees C. Using three lithography masks, single and multiple silicon nanowires connected to contact areas can be defined. By optimizing layer thicknesses, RIE and deposition conformity we demonstrate wafer scale definition of 60 nm wide silicon nanowires using I-line stepper lithography. The silicon nanowires exhibit excellent characteristics for biosensing applications with subthreshold slopes of 75 mV/dec and a high on/off current ratio of more than 10(5).

  • Role of hexaminolevulinate-guided fluorescence cystoscopy in bladder cancer: critical analysis of the latest data and European guidance
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Scandinavian Journal of Urology and Nephrology. - : Informa UK Limited. - 0036-5599 .- 1651-2065. ; 46:2, s. 108-116
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objective. Hexaminolevulinate (HAL) is an optical imaging agent used with fluorescence cystoscopy (FC) for the detection of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). Guidelines from the European Association of Urology (EAU) and a recent, more detailed European expert consensus statement agree that HAL-FC has a role in improving detection of NMIBC and provide recommendations on situations for its use. Since the publication of the EAU guidelines and the European consensus statement, new evidence on the efficacy of HAL-FC in reducing recurrence of NMIBC, compared with white light cystoscopy (WLC), have been published. Material and methods. To consider whether these new trials have an impact on the expert guidelines and on clinical practice (e. g. supporting existing recommendations or providing evidence for a change or expansion of practice), a group of bladder cancer experts from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden met to address the following questions: What is the relevance of the new data on HAL-FC for clinical practice in managing NMIBC? What impact do the new data have on European guidelines? How could HAL-FC be used in clinical practice? and What further information on HAL-FC is required to optimize the management of NMIBC? Results and conclusions. This article reports the outcomes of the discussion at the Nordic expert panel meeting, concluding that, in line with European guidance, HAL-FC has an important role in the initial detection of NMIBC and for follow-up of patients to assess tumour recurrence after WLC. It provides practical advice, with an algorithm on the use of this diagnostic procedure for urologists managing NMIBC.

  • Bravo capsule system optimizes intragastric pH monitoring over prolonged time : Effects of ghrelin on gastric acid and hormone secretion in the rat
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: World Journal of Gastroenterology. - : Baishideng Publishing Group Inc.. - 1007-9327 .- 2219-2840. ; 14:40, s. 6180-6187
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Aim: To evaluate measurements of intragastric pH with the Bravo capsule system over a prolonged time. Methods: A Bravo capsule was placed inside the rat gastric body and pH was studied for periods up to five consecutive. days. For comparison, a gastric fistula model was used. Effects of ghrelin and esomeprazole, with or without pentagastrin, on gastric pH were studied. In addition, effects of esomeprazole on plasma ghrelin, gastrin and somatostatin were analyzed. Results: All rats recovered after surgery. The average 24-h pH during free feeding was 2.3 +/- 0.1 (n = 20) with a variation of 18% +/- 6% over 5 d. Ghrelin, 2400 pmol/kg, t.i.d. increased pH from 1.7 +/- 0.1 to 3.1 +/- 0.3 (P < 0.01) as recorded with the Bravo system. After esomeprazole (1 mg/kg, 3 mg/kg and 5 mg/kg) there was a dose-dependent pH increase of maximally 3.4 +/- 0.1, with day-to-day variation over the entire period of 8% +/- 3%. The fistula and pH studies generated similar results. Acid inhibition with esomeprazole increased plasma ghrelin from 10 +/- 2 pmol/L to 65 +/- 26 pmol/L (P < 0.001), and somatostatin from 10 +/- 2 pmol/L to 67 +/- 18 pmol/L (P < 0.001). Conclusion: pH measurements with the Bravo capsule are reliable, and comparable to those of the gastric fistula model. The Bravo system optimizes accurate intragastric pH monitoring over prolonged periods and allows both short- and long-term evaluation of effects of drugs and hormones.

  • Cohort Profile: The National Prostate Cancer Register of Sweden and Prostate Cancer data Base Sweden 2.0
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Epidemiology. - Oxford : Oxford University Press (OUP): Policy B - Oxford Open Option D. - 0300-5771 .- 1464-3685. ; 42:4, s. 956-967
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In 1987, the first Regional Prostate Cancer Register was set up in the South-East health-care region of Sweden. Other health-care regions joined and since 1998 virtually all prostate cancer (PCa) cases are registered in the National Prostate Cancer Register (NPCR) of Sweden to provide data for quality assurance, bench marking and clinical research. NPCR includes data on tumour stage, Gleason score, serum level of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and primary treatment. In 2008, the NPCR was linked to a number of other population-based registers by use of the personal identity number. This database named Prostate Cancer data Base Sweden (PCBaSe) has now been extended with more cases, longer follow-up and a selection of two control series of men free of PCa at the time of sampling, as well as information on brothers of men diagnosed with PCa, resulting in PCBaSe 2.0. This extension allows for studies with case-control, cohort or longitudinal case-only design on aetiological factors, pharmaceutical prescriptions and assessment of long-term outcomes. The NPCR covers andgt; 96% of all incident PCa cases registered by the Swedish Cancer Register, which has an underreporting of andlt; 3.7%. The NPCR is used to assess trends in incidence, treatment and outcome of men with PCa. Since the national registers linked to PCBaSe are complete, studies from PCBaSe 2.0 are truly population based.

  • Device integration issues towards 10 nm MOSFETs
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: 2006 25TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MICROELECTRONICS, VOLS 1 AND 2, PROCEEDINGS. - NEW YORK, NY : IEEE. - 142440116X ; , s. 25-30
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • An overview of critical integration issues for future generation MOSFETs towards 10 nm gate length is presented. Novel materials and innovative structures are discussed. Implementation of high K gate dielectrics is presented and device performance is demonstrated for TiN metal gate surface channel SiGe MOSFETs with a gate stack based on ALD-formed HfO(2)/Al(2)O(3). Low frequency noise properties for those devices are also analyzed. A selective SiGe epitaxy process for low resistivity source/drain contacts has been developed and implemented in pMOSFETs. A spacer pattering technology using optical lithography to fabricate sub 50 nm high-frequency MOSFETs and nanowires is demonstrated, Finally ultra thin body Sol devices with high mobility SiGe channels are demonstrated.
