  • The MeteoMet project - metrology for meteorology: challenges and results
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Meteorological Applications. - : Wiley. - 1350-4827 .- 1469-8080. ; 22, s. 820-829
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The study describes significant outcomes of the Metrology for Meteorology' project, MeteoMet, which is an attempt to bridge the meteorological and metrological communities. The concept of traceability, an idea used in both fields but with a subtle difference in meaning, is at the heart of the project. For meteorology, a traceable measurement is the one that can be traced back to a particular instrument, time and location. From a metrological perspective, traceability further implies that the measurement can be traced back to a primary realization of the quantity being measured in terms of the base units of the International System of Units, the SI. These two perspectives reflect long-standing differences in culture and practice and this project - and this study - represents only the first step towards better communication between the two communities. The 3 year MeteoMet project was funded by the European Metrology Research Program (EMRP) and involved 18 European National Metrological Institutes, 3 universities and 35 collaborating stakeholders including national meteorology organizations, research institutes, universities, associations and instrument companies. The project brought a metrological perspective to several long-standing measurement problems in meteorology and climatology, varying from conventional ground-based measurements to those made in the upper atmosphere. It included development and testing of novel instrumentation as well as improved calibration procedures and facilities, instrument intercomparison under realistic conditions and best practice dissemination. Additionally, the validation of historical temperature data series with respect to measurement uncertainties and a methodology for recalculation of the values were included.

  • Calibration of thermocouples from 419,527 °C (freezing point of Zn) up to 1492 °C (melting point of the Pd-C eutectic), by the temperature fixed point and comparison methods
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Metrologia. - : IOP Publishing Ltd. - 0026-1394 .- 1681-7575. ; 57:1 A, s. 1-121
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This report present the results of the EURAMET inter-comparison carried out to compare the calibration of thermocouples from 419,527 °C (freezing point of Zn) up to 1492 °C (melting point of the Pd-C eutectic). This inter-comparison is intended to be used to support the calibration and measurement capabilities (CMCs) of the participants in the calibration of thermocouples. The comparison was organized in three loops with nineteen participating laboratories and it allowed the performance of the measurement either in fixed points and/or by comparison. The method used to analyse the results of the comparison was the generalized weighted mean that takes into account the full covariance matrix that includes correlations between the participants which have similar traceability sources and between measurements performed by the same laboratory (i.e. the pilots that performed measurements at the beginning and at the end of each loop and the measurements performed by the same laboratory in fixed points and by comparison at the same calibration point). • Severe Photo Toxicity Recalled by Docetaxel
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Case reports in oncology. - : S. Karger AG. - 1662-6575. ; 11:3, s. 751-755
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Photo-recall phenomenon is a rarely recognized adverse event of chemotherapeutic agents. The physiopathology of this entity is unclear. We have reported a 56-year old breast cancer patient with severe photo toxicity recalled 5 months after the initial sunburn by one course of adjuvant docetaxel treatment. However, being given right diagnosis and proper managements the patient could be able to complete her adjuvant chemotherapy according to the planed time schedule, without any delay. Our case may be explained by the theory that long-lived memory T-cells may remember former skin damage and cross-react with cytotoxic drugs. In addition, we have proved that weekly paclitaxel can still be the drug of option after docetaxel recalled severe photo toxicity.

  • Predicting Nonhemolytic Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Pediatrics. - : American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). - 1098-4275 .- 0031-4005. ; 136:6, s. 1087-1094
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Before hospital discharge, newborn infants should be assessed for the risk of excessive hyperbilirubinemia. We determined maternal and obstetric risk factors for hyperbilirubinemia in infants born at term (gestational age ≥37 weeks) to form an individualized risk assessment tool for clinical use.METHODS:This was a population-based study with data from the Swedish Medical Birth Register from 1999 to 2012, including 1 261 948 singleton infants. Outcome was defined as infants diagnosed with hyperbilirubinemia (N = 23 711), excluding all cases of hemolytic (immune-mediated or other specified hemolytic) diseases of the newborn.RESULTS:Risk factors with an adjusted odds ratio (aOR) for neonatal hyperbilirubinemia of ≥1.5 (medium-sized effect or more) were gestational age 37 to 38 weeks (aOR = 2.83), failed vacuum extraction (aOR = 2.79), vacuum extraction (aOR = 2.22), Asian mother (aOR = 2.09), primipara (aOR = 2.06), large-for-gestational-age infant (aOR = 1.84), obese mother (aOR = 1.83), and small-for-gestational-age infant (aOR = 1.66). Planned cesarean delivery (CD) was associated with a reduced risk (aOR = 0.45). Without any of these risk factors (normal birth weight infant delivered vaginally at 39 to 41 weeks’ gestation by a non-Asian, nonobese, multiparous mother) the rate of nonhemolytic neonatal hyperbilirubinemia was 0.7%. In relation to the combined load of different risk factors, rates of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia ranged from 0.2% to 25%.CONCLUSIONS:Collection of a few easily available maternal and obstetric risk factors predicts >100-fold variation in the incidence of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. The information provided herein enables individualized risk prediction with interactions between different risk factors taken into account.
