  • Heritage cereals : historical ingredients in future foods
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Communicating and presenting food from the past to the future. - : Örebro universitet. ; , s. 30-32
  • Bokkapitel (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • The aim was to investigate links between consumer preferences and nutritional quality of heritage cereals. This was done by two initial studies within a project on heritage cereals (Formas, 2018). The studies were one literature review and one consumer study (Zamaratskaia et al., 2020; Wendin et al., 2020). The narrative literature review included 135 references and the consumer study included 434 respondents

  • Kinetic resolution of diarylmethanols using a mutated variant of lipase CALB
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Tetrahedron. - : Elsevier BV. - 0040-4020 .- 1464-5416. ; 68:37, s. 7613-7618
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • An enzymatic kinetic resolution of diarylmethanols via acylation has been developed. This was achieved by the use of a mutated variant of CALB that accepts larger substrates compared to the wild type. By the use of diarylmethanols with two differently sized aryl groups, enantioselective transformations were achieved. A larger size-difference led to a higher enantioselectivity. In addition, substrates with electronically different aryl groups, such as phenyl and pyridyl, also gave an enantioselective reaction. The highest E value was observed with a substrate where steric and electronic effects were combined.

  • A new multiple regression model to identify multi-family houses with a high prevalence of sick building symptoms "SBS", within the healthy sustainable house study in Stockholm (3H)
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: International Archives of Occupational and Environmental Health. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0340-0131 .- 1432-1246. ; 83:1, s. 85-94
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • PURPOSES: The aim was to develop a new model to identify residential buildings with higher frequencies of "SBS" than expected, "risk buildings". METHODS: In 2005, 481 multi-family buildings with 10,506 dwellings in Stockholm were studied by a new stratified random sampling. A standardised self-administered questionnaire was used to assess "SBS", atopy and personal factors. The response rate was 73%. Statistical analysis was performed by multiple logistic regressions. RESULTS: Dwellers owning their building reported less "SBS" than those renting. There was a strong relationship between socio-economic factors and ownership. The regression model, ended up with high explanatory values for age, gender, atopy and ownership. Applying our model, 9% of all residential buildings in Stockholm were classified as "risk buildings" with the highest proportion in houses built 1961-1975 (26%) and lowest in houses built 1985-1990 (4%). CONCLUSION: To identify "risk buildings", it is necessary to adjust for ownership and population characteristics.

  • RIFINs are adhesins implicated in severe Plasmodium falciparum malaria
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Nature Medicine. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1078-8956 .- 1546-170X. ; 21:4, s. 314-317
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Rosetting is a virulent Plasmodium falciparum phenomenon associated with severe malaria. Here we demonstrate that P. falciparum-encoded repetitive interspersed families of polypeptides (RIFINs) are expressed on the surface of infected red blood cells (iRBCs), bind to RBCs-preferentially of blood group A-to form large rosettes and mediate microvascular binding of iRBCs. We suggest that RIFINs have a fundamental role in the development of severe malaria and thereby contribute to the varying global distribution of ABO blood groups in the human population.

  • Theodor Metochites i den yttersta tiden
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Olof Heilo (ed.), Vägar till Bysans. - Skellefteå : Artos & Norma bokförlag. - 9789172171237 ; , s. 105-113
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Den bysantinske statsmannen Theodoros Metochites (1270-1332) ger i sina personligt skrivna essäer uttryck för stämningar som var rådande i Konstantinopel under hans tid: sorg över förlorade landområden, uppgivenhet inför sedernas förfall och bävan inför framtiden.

  • A morphometric magnetic resonance method for measuring cranial, facial and brain characteristics for application to schizophrenia : Part 1
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Psychiatry Research. - : Elsevier BV. - 0925-4927 .- 1872-7506 .- 0165-1781. ; 147:2-3, s. 173-186
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Serious psychopathology in adulthood may be associated with disturbed foetal brain development, which potentially shows lingering "fossil marks" in the cranial and facial regions. Several methods exist for assessing external craniofacial and internal brain distances but, to our knowledge, no method yet provides simultaneous measurement of cranial, facial and brain dimensions in live subjects. In this article we describe a method to identify landmarks on magnetic resonance images (MRI) for simultaneous measurement of cranial, facial and brain characteristics potentially associated with psychosis. To test the method itself, 30 patients with chronic schizophrenia and 31 healthy comparison subjects, mean age 41 years, were randomly selected from a larger cohort recruited at the Karolinska Hospital, Sweden. Participants were investigated with MRI, and 60 landmarks in the cranial, facial and brain regions were identified in the images. An independent anthropometric examination measured external craniofacial characteristics for study in relation to measurements produced through MRI. High inter-scorer and re-test reliabilities were obtained for two independent scorers of the landmarks in the MR images. Measurements of potentially comparable craniofacial distances showed high alignment with an established anthropometric method. This new method can provide simultaneous investigation of multiple aspects of cranial, facial and brain morphology in MR images originally collected for other purposes. In a second article we will use this method to compare 3D craniofacial measurements and shape between schizophrenia patients and healthy controls.
