  • Fabrication of cadmium titanate nanofibers via electrospinning technique
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Ceramics International. - : Elsevier. - 0272-8842 .- 1873-3956. ; 38:4, s. 3361-3365
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Here we present an electrospinning technique for the fabrication of cadmium titanate/polyvinyl-pyrrolidone composite nanofibers. The composite nanofibers are then annealed at 600 degrees C to obtain ilmenite rhombohedral phase cadmium titanate nanofibers. The structure, composition, thermal stability and optical properties of as synthesized and annealed cadmium titanate nanofibers are characterized by X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. The average diameter and length of the nanofibers are found to be similar to 150-200 nm and similar to 100 mu m, respectively.

  • Characterization of nano-composite Ni dispersed over a silica matrix prepared by a modified sol-gel technique
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Australian Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences. - : INSInet Publications. - 1991-8178 .- 2309-8414. ; 5:10, s. 287-295
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Structural characteristics for silica gel doped with Ni and NiO, prepared by sol-gel method, using tetra-ethoxysilane as precursor material and submitted to different thermal treatment temperature, were investigated through XRD and FTIR, while their morphology through SEM and TEM. The pure silica gel samples heat treated in the range between 60C up to 700C have an amorphous phase, while crystalline phase appears at 400C after annealing of the doped samples in hydrogen gas at 400C. Measurements of crystallite size of 30 mol % Ni ions dispersed over the amorphous silica matrix sintering at heat treatment temperature 250C gave rise to a final sample its XRD pattern is characterized by broad Ni peak profiles, corresponding to particle size of 11.8 nm as determined by using the win fit program after reduction in hydrogen at 400C for 4 hours. Analysis the obtained FTIR spectra, indicates that the sol-gel process used for synthesizing the nano-composites was successful for the entire samples. The hysteresis loops were measured to determine saturation magnetization (Ms), remnant magnetization (Mr) and coercivity (Hc). From these data, it was found that the saturation magnetization for Ni increases, while the coercive field values decrease, by increasing Ni content.

  • Chemically fashioned ZnO nanowalls and their potential application for potentiometric cholesterol biosensor
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Applied Physics Letters. - : American Institute of Physics. - 0003-6951 .- 1077-3118. ; 98:25, s. 253705-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Chemically fashioned zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowalls on aluminum wire have been characterized and utilized to fabricate a potentiometric cholesterol biosensor by an electrostatic conjugation with cholesterol oxidase. The sensitivity, specificity, reusability, and stability of the conjugated surface of ZnO nanowalls with thickness of similar to 80 nm have been investigated over a wide logarithmic concentrations of cholesterol electrolyte solution ranging from 1x10(-6)-1x10(-3) M. The presented biosensor illustrates good linear sensitivity slope curve (similar to 53 mV/decade) corresponding to cholesterol concentrations along with rapid output response time of similar to 5 s.

  • Forward- and reverse-biased electroluminescence behavior of chemically fabricated ZnO nanotubes/GaN interface
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: SEMICONDUCTOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY. - : Iop Publishing Ltd. - 0268-1242 .- 1361-6641. ; 26:7, s. 075003-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Electroluminescence characteristics of an n-ZnO nanotubes/p-GaN heterostructure light-emitting diode (LED) have been investigated at forward and reverse bias. Distinctly different emission spectra have been observed and the location of the recombination of electron-hole is analyzed under both configurations. The forward-biased emission spectrum shows two peaks centered at around 450 and 560 nm, while the reverse-biased spectrum exhibits a single emission peak at 650 nm. By comparing the current transport mechanisms, it is suggested that the violet-blue emission peak (450 nm) observed only under forward bias is originating from the heterojunction of the ZnO nanotubes/p-GaN LED. The influence on the emission intensity of the device with the increase in temperature at constant current is studied in the range from 25 to 65 degrees C, to check its compatibility for practical applications and under harsh conditions.
