- Audience Body is part of Tuomas Laitinen’s artistic research project. The performance took place in November 2022 as part of the programs of Reality Research Center, Moving in November festival and Center for New Dance Zodiak. Audience Body is composed of several different reading objects, or “chapters”, which are available for the audience members to explore. The texts deal with the phenomeon of audience, combining different writing styles (theatre play, personal messages, autotheory, lyric essay, geometry) into an excessive textual composition. The work was performed six times during three days. The traces of each performance were left in the space and thus the previous audiences would haunt the space through unwound paper rolls and ripped letters. The 90 minute duration of the performance would start to exhaust the audience’s need to read and they would begin to audience each other. Thus the audience performed and started to audience itself performing. The work functioned as an autopoetic performance apparatus.

- Utifrån Stockholmsenkäten som undersöker ungas användning av tobak, alkohol och droger samt psykisk hälsa gick Smart Kreativ Stad in i ett större projekt, Danderyd Lyssnar, initierat av Danderyds kommun. Syftet var att lyssna på ungdomar. De fick delta i workshops som gick ut på att lyssna och att berätta med ljud. Vad innebär det att lyssna aktivt och vad kan vi höra då?Genom att använda andra metoder än kvantitativa, erbjöds ungdomarna kreativa processer som var utformade så att lyssnandet stod i fokus. För att stötta de unga i att komma bort från prestation och förväntade svar erbjöd processledarna verktyg för att spegla deras mående. Berättelser trädde fram som handlade om ångest, stress, prestation, krav samt en icke närvarande vuxenvärld—men också om längtan och minnen.Projektet har givit kunskap om ungdomars villkor. Med den framtagna metoden, kan vi fortsätta att lyssna och höra människor från olika miljöer och på olika platser.Genom att gå från statistik till konstnärliga processer, får vi tag på ungdomarnas egna berättelser. Deras verklighet förmedlas med egna ord, därefter inspelade med skådespelare och ungdomar från andra miljöer för att anonymisera personerna bakom berättelserna.Berättelserna presenteras i ljud på hemsidan samt som en installation av två stycken mobila 3D-modeller i glas av respektive skola med tillhörande uppspelningsteknik. Dessa är avsedda för att sprida de ungas berättelser och projektresultatet av piloten på andra skolor och i offentliga miljöer. Det finns också en interaktiv karta som kopplar platserna till de ungas berättelser. Denna finns på Smart Kreativ Stads hemsida.

- Dugnad Days is a collective of place strategists, architects and artists who from 2019 have teamed up with the municipality of Bjerke and residents of SletteløkkaThe Dugnad Days Team are a part of the exhibition Oslo in the Making with the project Dugnad Days.Drawing on the Norwegian concept of “dugnad”, the ongoing participatory community project at Sletteløkka in Oslo consists of a series of events with residents, local authorities and professionals working together, strengthening the neighbourhood identity.Preparations over two years to create a much requested community house in 2021 saw an increase in local engagement and interaction, and the resulting converted building itself is a manifestation of the joint neighbourhood effort, with a façade designed through collaboration with 39 local teenagers working with artists. An extension to the community house is now planned, reusing materials of the old Japanese house exhibited in the Japan pavilion at last year’s Venice Architecture Biennale.

- In the summer of 2018 an architect, a theatre director and a sound engineer met at an artistic research conference and started a dialogue. Since then they have collaborated from time to time. In this session we will explore something they have tried to touch upon with these words: elsewhere, somewhere, where. The presentation re-iterates an experiment from Alliances & Commonalities 2020, creating a second temporal layer and documenting the evolving sensory and social space of the artist-researcher community. It continues a cross-disciplinary dialogue on the issues of public space, participation, oral history and locality.

- This presentation has sprouted from a two-year cross-disciplinary dialogue around the issues of public space, participation, oral history, agency of the audience and locality. The aim of the research has been to construct a material device for addressing these issues. Elsewhere is the first iteration of this device, re-oriented by the pandemic condition.The research explores the importance of a physical meeting between people. The pandemic has made meeting physically difficult. Due to covid-19 pandemic restrictions, this project has reiterated in the light of social distancing, lock-down and closed borders, interestingly reflecting on how meeting in other ways can still engender a genuine encounter.

ENHEAR : a way of being, a state of mind, a field of enquiry

- The term Enhear invites an approach to research, art practice, sound studio and world that is comprehensively aural. It proposes listening as both act and role; listening as a present tense, continual and continuous co-creation of the inter-relational spaces we all share. Drawing on the specific expertise, and orientation of the sound engineer in film and media-based production, the research unfolds as a series of interrelated experiments and reflections, exploring enhear via a diverse range of artistic approaches, collaborative methods and pedagogical practices. Each sub-project brings particular attention to the auditory perspective, a radically underutilized element within the visually dominated context of film and media. This project contends that consciously incorporating attentive and inclusive listening practices into the lifecycle of creative processes will make considerable artistic, ethical and practical contributions to film and media-based productions; further utilizing the expertise, raising the profile and expanding the practices of the sound engineer.

- Carolina Jinde och Ester Martin Bergsmark undersöker vad en expanderad förståelse för lyssnandet kan bidra med när det ges en mer central roll i filmskaparprocessen. Via överlappande beröringspunkter i deras respektive forskningsprojekt, Enhear och Voice-under, experimenterar de med arbetsflöden inom filmproduktion för att lustfyllt destabiliserar traditionella filmproduktionsprocesser. De har utforskat metoder för att arbeta med icke-linjära processer och letat förutsättningar för att låta ett audiellt anslag brottas med bildval, skådespeleri och med den narrativa stommen. I syfte att generera modeller för icke-linjära processer har de till exempel förlagt arbetsmoment som inom konventionell filmproduktion tillhör postproduktion till utvecklings- och preproduktions-fas. Ljud design har använts till scenografi på inspelning, audivisuella manus har varit viktiga delmoment och mood spheres snarare än mood boards har skapats för att ge för-förståelse till berättelsen.

- Artistic researchers Carolina Jinde and Ester Martin Bergsmark explore how an expanded understanding of listening can contribute to the filmmaking process, if and when given a more central role. Through their coinciding projects, Enhear and Voice Under, they experiment with workflows, playfully destabilizing traditional production processes within film production.The project has generated many insights into the potentials of interdisciplinary collaboration in film making and reveals creative potentials of working with more non-linear processes in film making. The researchers enhear a broadened understanding of imagery and the voice under of their work challenges the traditional position of the image as the carrier of truth.

- Carolina Jinde har arbetat som ljudtekniker inom film, TV och radio i drygt två decennier. Sedan tre år tillbaka är hon doktorand på Stockholms Konstnärliga Högskola med inriktning ljud på avdelningen Film och media. Forskningsprojekt: Enhear. Genom att framhålla lyssnandet som utgångspunkt i kreativa processer vill Carolina synliggöra ljudarbetets förlösande potential. Hon utforskar såväl praktiska som affektiva metoder att poängtera ett audiellt perspektiv för skapandeprocesser inom film- och medieproduktion. Via sitt konstnärliga forskningsprojekt söker hon rucka på invanda rutiner och stereotypa arbetsflöden för att därigenom inspirera till nya arbetsflöden och rutiner.

- Carolina Jinde presents enhear from the perspective of her current position as associate professor in sound. She invites you to encounter existence from a listening perspective and to consider how modes of production efficiency and output are expressions of power relations and to reflect upon how these relations shape creative processes. During the presentation, Jinde will share work from her practice both as a sound creator and as a teacher.Enhear is a site for collaboration; a tool for developing an idea together and a practice of attending, with awareness and sensitivity, to the present time, space and situation. It suggests an approach to the world that is comprehensively aural, bringing awareness to the shared-ness of space and offering a kind of sensorial sanctuary –– away from the incessant production and consumption of images.
