  • Cystamine-configured lead halide based 2D hybrid molecular crystal : synthesis and photoluminescence systematics
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: APL Materials. - : AIP Publishing. - 2166-532X. ; 6:11
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We have synthesized and studied a specific family of disulfide bridge based 2D organic inorganic hybrid perovskites using the cation, cystamine [2,2'-dithiobis(ethylammonium), abbreviated as SS] in the three lead halide (X = I, Br, and Cl) based systems, and explored their unique photo-physical properties. Green, blue, and white emissions are noted in I, Br, and Cl based systems, respectively. The experimental observations are compared with the results of first principles DFT calculations. The role of the halide ion (X) in the [Pb-X-4] cages on the luminescence of the disulfide bridge based hybrid system is elucidated, and the corresponding systematics are analyzed.

  • Evolution of hydrogen by few-layered black phosphorus under visible illumination
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Journal of Materials Chemistry A. - : Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). - 2050-7488 .- 2050-7496. ; 5:47, s. 24874-24879
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Recently, a new class of two-dimensional black phosphorus (BP) with a visible direct band gap is predicted as a potential candidate for photo-catalysis applications. Here, we present the first experimental evidence of hydrogen (H-2) evolution from aqueous solution by using BP (nanosheets and nanoparticles) under visible light illumination. Our experimental results describe that liquid phase exfoliated BP nanosheets and BP nanoparticles exhibit suitable energy level alignments for electron transfer and further proton reduction reactions in the solution under visible light illumination. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations predict that the H-2 evolution activity of bilayer BP is independent of edge or center positions, which is unique in BP as compared to those of other 2D materials.

  • Zero-Dimensional Lead-Free Hybrid Perovskite-like Material with a Quantum-Well Structure
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Chemistry of Materials. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 0897-4756 .- 1520-5002. ; 31:6, s. 1941-1945
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Low-dimensional perovskites are an emerging class of materials with high stability and excellent optoelectronic properties. Herein, we introduce a novel, lead-free, zero-dimensional perovskite-like material, (1,3-propanediammonium)(2)Bi2I10 center dot 2H(2)O, for optoelectronic applications. This material exhibited good moisture and thermal stability under ambient conditions. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis revealed a quantum-well structure having the inorganic Bi2I104- clusters periodically arranged in the crystallographic "c" axis separated by a distance of 5.36 angstrom, sandwiched by independent layers of organic cations. The density functional theory calculations showed that the oxygen in water molecules has a significant contribution to the band edges of the material. The photodetector device fabricated using this material showed an efficient charge separation at low voltage (1 V) due to the good electronic conduction between the Bi2I104- dimer units.
